There Will Be ‘Bond’
Yesterday afternoon I met up with a friend for a quick dessert date at Susina Bakery in LA before meeting up with Steph and Alek for dinner at Pink Taco (yes, dessert came before dinner but if you had seen the apple crumble placed before me, you’d understand). From there we met up with Jordan, Darion and his friend Peter at the ArcLight Theater to see (at last) the new James Bond film Quantum of Solace:

While I was a bit worried by some of the bad press I’ve been reading about Solace, I was pretty confident that I’d still like the movie myself. Thankfully I dismissed the negative reviews and went out to see the film because it was a pretty kick-ass Bond movie. Right off the bat, the action gets underway and over the course of the film the audience is treated to action scenes that take place by land (both car and on foot), by sea and by air. I fully stand by my contention that Daniel Craig is the best James Bond ever. He just becomes the role so fully. Sean Connery may have been the best 007 back in the day but now, Daniel Craig totally owns the role. I really liked Casino Royale and I think I liked this movie better. The pacing moved along perfectly and the story, which bordered on being too complicated, held together nicely to round out the film. I like the idea of a new, unheard of shadowy organization that will, most likely, plague Bond in future films. I really hope that Daniel Craig will continue to play James Bond for years to come … he is just so great in the role, I’d love to see more. He’s deffo made me a fan of the franchise (a feat I never thought would be accomplished after Pierce Brosnan took on the role). This film rocked, I think action movie fans will really enjoy it.
No big plans for today … a meeting in town, dinner, the usual. I hear that rain is coming to SoCal — sadly apropos for this time of the year.

I can’t wait to see this. I am sorry but Pink Taco is so gross! I hope your tummy didn’t hurt after eating that garbage:)!! I have to voice my disdain for it. It is way over-hyped.

I agree, Daniel is the best Bond yet. I like that he made him the character a little less suave Lady’s Man a little more selfish a-hole. I think it actually makes the whole Bond persona more believable.
Not to mention, of course, that he is totally hot. Y’all can keep Brad, Jake, Matthew and all the rest. I’ll take DC over them any day!

Sorry but Daniel Craig is NOT James Bond. These are no longer James Bond movies they’re 2nd rate Bourne Identity moves. Maybe not a bad thing this film has done better than any others but pah its just become another Hollywood movie. The “English” has gone out of it – 24 meets Bourne – just give these movies a new name.
If you ever read the books or read about Ian Flemming, you’d know that infact Pierce Brosnan actually holds up more to the type he envisaged as Bond certainly not DC. In what way is he James Bond – apart from that voice -that’s pretty sexy but nothing else. Sean Connery looks younger than DC – infact bring him back ;-)
please no more DC. Bring back a real James Bond !!!

i love me some daniel craig any day of the week, but this movie was so disjointed. the action scenes were very impressive, but the script lacked majorly. i guess that’s what happens when you don’t base the movie on a fleming novel.

Pierce Brosnan all the way, baby! He IS Bond. Although I think DC is hot and very brooding and masculine, Brosnan fits the type to a T. The role was made for him and he was set to take over in 1985, but NBC uncanceled Remington Steele and he was forced to pass on the coveted role. His BOND movies have grossed together the most of ANY of the Bonds too.

Pierce was a very gentlemanly Bond but Craig is just so sexy and masculine!!

I agree Trent. Daniel Craig is a great Bond for this day and age. Back in the day it was Sean Connery. Although I have to say that Man with the Golden Gun is one of my favs. Probably because Christopher Lee was a great villan.
But DC is such a MAN, powerful and sexy, and those blue blue eyes. Sigh…..

I completely agree, Trent.
Daniel Craig is the best bond, and there is no doubt about it.
He is masculine and raw/organic, and that makes him impeccable in his performance!
Daniel Craig fully embraces the sinister aspect of being a 007 agent, albeit similar to his predecessors in terms of his womanizing ways. But he differentiates himself as the new and true Bond because of the masculinity and rawness he puts into his role!
