Last night’s ep of The Hills felt to me like the most contrived episode of the series that has ever aired. Now, there have been a lot of Hills eps where the “reality” didn’t seem so real and I may have questioned the honesty of some storylines but last night’s ep really takes the cake. To call it laughable would be an understatement:

Essentially, the crux of last night’s ep dealt with a rumor that Audrina Patridge heard from a “friend” of hers named Dino (who has never appeared on the show, mind you) that detailed a supposed “hook-up” between Lauren LC Conrad and Justin Bobby. When this ridic rumor actually spilled out into the real life tabloids and media (Audrina even went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to cry on national TV before she even spoke face-to-face with LC about the matter), I honestly didn’t pay it any mind — there was no way I was gonna buy any rumor that LC would deign to even touch Justin Bobby if she didn’t have to. Apparently, the producers of the show figured The Hills audience would be stupid enough to believe the storyline and featured it last night. After the jump, if you still care, find out what went down between who on last night’s ep titled You Did This …

This whole thing is so stupid that I feel insulted that I even have to talk about it. It seems SO CONTRIVED that Audrina would take the word over some guy we never even heard about over that of her best friend — actually, that she would even entertain the notion that LC would even dream of slumming with Justin Bobby is stupid. In the 4 season history of the show, I’ve never felt like I was being force-fed a storyline like I did last night. AND to top it off, Audrina couldn’t even act out her fake drama in any believable fashion! It angers me to think that the producers of the show would treat their audience like this. There wasn’t a thing about last night’s ep that I liked … except for the scene where LC told Audrina she would never hook-up with Justin Bobby because he “digusts” her. That was the sole believable part about last night’s ep.
I dunno, y’all … my interest level in the show has nose-dived and it doesn’t look like it’s gonna get better anytime soon. Next week’s ep features Nana Pratt? Seriously? That’s the highpoint? As I said before, I’ll stick with the show til the end of this season … beyond that, I’m not sure.
What did y’all think? Did we like? Dislike? Not even tune in? Any ideas who that creepily sandwiched in lady sitting between LC and Audrina was? Script-writer, perhaps?

Christine – Fair enough – you make some good points. And I’m not about to get into deep character analysis with the characters on the Hills, haha. But to one point, LC despises Justin because she seems to despise to boyfriends of all of her female friends as they come between her and her overbearing friendships. Granted, she has made a few cracks about his hygiene, but I don’t think she’s above a drunken makeout session. I mean, just look at Jason. She definitely cannot argue that he taste is far superior to the likes of Justin Bobby. But I agree nonetheless that it is very possible Audrina is just fame-whoring it out in an attempt to make herself more interesting on the show. In my opinion, it worked – whether for better or worse.
i think that was the best JB has ever looked LOL
Trent I so agree with you, this show is way to fake.
i actually really like the episode! i felt so sorry for holly in the aftershow!! heidi and spencer are so selfish i cant stand them. and holly is still sooooo nice! after everything they have done to her.
I actually thought that this was the best episode this season! Audrina is an idiot!! How many times does everyone have to tell her that nothing happened??!!! The girl is so insecure!!! Geez….I even like Justin-Bobby this episode! I loved how he told Audrina off!
the best part of the show hands down was when holly brought up to heidi that she thought she had an office. and then heidi like half pretended to make a sentence to explain her stupidity. hah
last nights episode was so bad it was funny
“I thought you had an office?” LOL
and seriously? nanna pratt? really?
blah
although this ep was the one time when i though justin bobby sounded smart
Did you see when Audrina got up after their bar fight to walk away from the table and when she faces the camera she is smiling. I rewound and paused it to be sure. What an idiot. Maybe she should be more concerned about the fact that her eyes dont touch the bottom of her lids.
I hate to say it, but i also think the show is getting way too fake….like Trent said, the whole thing just seemed so forced.
I did like the part when Holly asked Heidi about her office though…hahaha classic
HUGE editing error: when Holly visited Heidi at work, Heidi had on outfit #1. When Heidi gets home and talks to Spencer on same day, she has different hair and outfit. OOPS.
The only thing real last night was Audrina’s serious lack of self esteem and her huge bundle of insecurities.
oh, i think they did it….drunk, did it, regretted, agreed to deny, deny, deny. (been there done that – not proud, but true)
I enjoyed it, obviously Audrina really believed it and if I was Lauren I’d be freaking peeved too!
It was so entertaining, a great episode!
My roommates commented on Holly visiting Heidi without calling, but it looks better on TV having people meet in person than talk on the phone so I’m sure the producers just convinced her to stop by
Audrina shouldn’t have gone blabbing to the media about everything especially since she has no proof of what lauren did.
Honestly, I also really enjoyed watching this episode last night. Something DIFFERENT finally happened, and I was thouroughly entertained.
I think that Audrina completely over-reacted to this stupid romour. Anyone with a brain who watches the show would know that Lauren and Justin would NEVER EVER touch eachother. Audrina was completely out of line spreading this around, going on national television and totally running with this fake story. Justin made such a good point (for once) stating that Audrina freaking out did not just affect her – it has affected both LC and JB. They both deserve an apology from Audrina not only for accusing them of this, but then for not believing them when they told her it wasn’t true. I lost so much respect for Audrina in last nights ep.
I actually really liked last nights episode. In contrast to everyone else, I think this was the first REAL thing we’ve seen happen all season. Maybe that’s what is throwing everyone off. lol.
p.s. JB looked extra HOT last night. If that’s poor hygiene, sign me up!!
I liked this episode. I’m a huge fan of Lauren. I only wish I handled myself as well when I was her age!
Well I can’t even see this so called far fetched episode because for some reason about 4 weeks ago, MTV.com and MTV.ca stopped allowing access to the online episodes for Australians! WTF
Does anyone know where I can see the last 4 eps without any issues? Thanks!
Love love love Pink is the new blog!
MWAH
im not sure if we’re supose to believe heidi returned from work after talking to holly, bc her hair and dress have changed… but knowing the Hills we are.. and they no longer even care about continutiy in their editing.
and yea i enjoyed tonights ep, fake or real
Jo – I agree that Lauren isn’t always the easiest person to get along with, but to say that she hates all of her friends’ boyfriends is a bit of an overstatement – she hates Spencer because he’s the world’s biggest douche, and until it didn’t suit her to anymore, Audrina hated Spencer too. Spencer is a poor excuse for a human being and everyone hates him…so I don’t see why Lauren’s feelings for Spencer are reflection of Lauren’s character or of how she is with her friendships. As for Justin Bobby, Audrina spends at least as much time complaining about him as she does discussing the good things he does, so it’s not hard to see why Lauren would be justified in disliking him, as well…other than those two, I can’t really think of any other boyfriends her friends have had that she’s disliked. I don’t think that makes her overbearing.
Uhh, I really can’t stand this show, but what I hate more is that I faithfully tune in every week. But whateves, the whole thing is fake so I don’t find the farfetched drama the producers are able to conger up. It keeps the show more interesting!
