Behind the scenes in Dubai, are human rights abuses, Shariah law, females being raped, and honor killed, foreigners who work there have their passports held,and they are treated like animals. It is a homophobic, racist country, and they hate Christians and Jews. It is a big facade of money and glitz, but Islamic law lurks behind every large tower built on the sweat of underpaid laborers who live in “labour camps”. Dubai is now what it seems, and all these people shipped in like lobster, seem stupid and useless in this very tense and hard economic time. Shame on them.

It seems like all the same people who attend these parties are the same ones who attend the global warming benefits. No one politicians have yet to really take the issue seriously.
Nowhere else but Dubai would such overblown festivities take place for really no purpose. It really is the Vegas of the Middle East.

I couldn’t agree more with you, Trent. Sounds like an amazing party, but really.. why couldn’t the guests pay for their own plane tickets?? It’s sad that so much money is spent on and for these celebrities (and BILLIONaires) who don’t really need it at all since they themselves have their own fortunes.

1,000 bottles of Veuvre Cliquot champagne, 1.7 metric tonnes of lobster, 4,000 oysters, 3,000 kilos of smoked salmon and 5,000 portions of the best sushi??

just like i thought with the Olympics (though i enjoyed them), it’s ridiculous how much money a government will invest in such lavish celebrations when there is still so much abject poverty in the world, and even in their own country. You can’t tell me there aren’t a million infrastructure projects that could benefit the people, instead of this crap that benefits tourists and celebrities. Although tourism IS good for the economy, i wonder how occupancy rates will look now that the world economy has suffered so badly over the last few months, especially since Dubai has yet to really establish itself as a tourist destination. Lawd knows they’re trying, but there’s only so much you can do when the normal folk don’t have the money to spend.

in other news, Mischa Barton showed up and looked pretty damn good in that dress. You win some, you lose some, i guess, hahahah.

for all that $, kylie couldn’t have selected a better concert wardrobe? yuck. i guess if you have the $ and want to waste it on lavishness, go ahead. but, there are so many other more worthwhile causes to spend such a large sum of money on. makes me feel sorry for the rich and aimless.

How have I not seen any coverage of this event on TV? I have to try to find some more visuals of this party…
All I can say is that I hope those dolphins are being treated well and cared for with the highest standards of animal husbandry and veterinary care, and I hope their seafood is as good as what all the invitees got ;-)
And I hope somebody bought carbon offsets to compensate for all the global air travel generated by this colossal lavishness.
