Peace The Spork Out, Sarah Palin*
It is with a heavy and sad heart that I have to report that Tina Fey’s impersonation of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been retired. While I would be ecstatic if the real Sarah Palin retired from politics, I am very sad that Tina Fey has decided stop portraying the governor in her insanely hilarious way on Saturday Night Live. It is time to raise our glasses, pour one out for the faux (and IMHO superior) Sarah Palin and peace her the spork out:

Tina Fey’s hilarious turn as Sarah Palin put Saturday Night Live on the electoral map like nothing else in recent memory — viewership is up nearly 70 percent this season. But will Fey continue to moonlight as the gorgeous governor, who could be a parody-worthy public figure for years to come? “I have to retire just because I have to do my day job,” reveals the creator and star of NBC’s 30 Rock (which experienced a 20 percent ratings uptick for its Oct. 30 season premiere). “I think [Kristen] Wiig would do a really good job.” As for whether there’ll be an official Palin torch passing, she says, “Maybe we could get a real torch. Or I could give Wiig the Palin wig.”
While saddened by this news (I would *love* to see just one more SNL skit of Tina’s Palin reacting to the election outcome this week) I can absolutely understand Tina’s position. It prolly ate at her soul a bit every time she put that wig and those glasses on. And, to be honest, I’m really looking forward to not having to deal with anything Palin-related for a very long time or, you know, FOREVER. No offense to the fine folks in Alaska but, y’all can have that entire family. Please keep them up there … or sell them to the Russians, whatevs ;) Tina Fey is a genius … much love, props and kudos to her for giving us such comedic gold during this presidential campaign. I’d deffo vote Fey for VP once Obama completes his two terms in office. Wouldn’t a Hillary Clinton/Tina Fey 2016 campaign be awesome?!

Umm, it’s HIS Blog, so where exactly should he post HIS views??? No one said you had to read them. That’s the beauty of this country. Freedom to click or not! LOL!
November 6th, 2008 at 9:17 am
I agree with Rhonda, if Trent wants to write his views he certainly should be able to do so on his own blog.
‘m in Canada but how could you avoid getting caught up in the election? I loved seeing Tina on SNL again but I’m so tired of all things Palin.
November 6th, 2008 at 9:18 am
LOL! Tell me Sue, where should I plug my views? Also, please tell me what I should believe, what I should wear today and what to have for lunch. Thanks!
November 6th, 2008 at 9:18 am
maybe you should find another blog to read then sue? anyways I love Tina Fey..maybe she’ll be doing Palin in 2012? wow I really shudder at that thought

LOL at Sue! Seriously, laughing out loud! Hey Sue, go get your own blog!!!
November 6th, 2008 at 9:31 am
I’m a Republican that loves Trent and his blog. He has the right to put whatever he wants on here.
Tina Fey as Palin was genius! Hopefully her retirement of Palin will be the end of Palin on SNL….we don’t need anymore for sure!
November 6th, 2008 at 9:41 am
I’m a gay Republican who reads and enjoys Trent’s blog. While I have much love for Palin and was rather disturbed to see her so lambasted in the media – much to the exclusion of anyone on any ticket – Fey’s impression of her (despite its singlemindedness) was hysterical. And say what you will – Palin was a good sport about it. As for what Trent can and cannot post, OMFG, get a grip. This is his blog, and unless I missed something in the morning’s paper, free speech hasn’t been repealed. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. Put a cork in that whine, Sue.

Umm sue? Are you Serious? If you don’t like what Trent has to say.. Read a different blog…. GO TRENT!
November 6th, 2008 at 10:17 am
I really hope the results of the election didn’t bring out the hate in people. Get a grip, Sue. Your hate is not wanted here. NEXT!
November 6th, 2008 at 10:32 am
You Betcha Sue…I have the perfect site for you. E news is full of angry conservatives leaving nasty comments under every political topic. You would fit right in……best of luck with your hatred……
November 6th, 2008 at 10:36 am
Sue, as a Republican, you aren’t exactly making the party look good.
As for Trent not posting his thoughts on his blog… maybe you think he should go to another blog and post his political views in their comments?? Do you have a blog SUE???
November 6th, 2008 at 10:53 am
I love Sarah Palin, and I loved Tina Fey’s renditions of her. I hope we see a whole lot more of both of them in the future!
November 6th, 2008 at 11:08 am
Poor Sue, so lost. And also (per Palin), it’s good that she has freedom of speech to voice her political views on someone else’s blog! lol
November 6th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Hey Trent, did you see the O’Reilly/Carl Cameron segment (on Fox News!) about how Palin thought Africa was a country and not a continent? What a tool.

I disagree that Palin was unfairly lambasted by the media. She was UTTERLY unqualified. Some of the stuff that’s come out in the last couple days in totally mind-blowing: she thought Africa was one big country, she couldn’t name the three countries in North America (even though her state is surrounded by one of them!), etc etc. Watch this report, on FOX NEWS of all places. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWZHTJsR4Bc. Craziness.
But I digress… I too will miss Tina Fey as the far superior Sarah Palin! Also.
November 6th, 2008 at 11:20 am
We’ll have to agree to disagree, Lauren, because frankly, well…I’m not even going there. The bottom line is that it’s over.
November 6th, 2008 at 11:32 am
i agree with aidan. and lauren, i think the new president elect is, as you put it, UTTERLY unqualified.
trent, sometimes i do think you put a little too much political stuff on here. but, it is your blog and i can just skip over things i don’t wanna read.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
I love your blog, Trent, but only when it pertains to gossip. I visit your site to escape the real world, and I hate when you use it to voice your political views. Sure, I can visit other celebrity blogs, but I’d rather not be forced into that. I know it’s your website, but, I hope you will take into consideration that some of your readers visit to get away from politics and negativity, and immerse themselves into the fabulous world of the rich, famous, crazy, and unpredictable celebrities!
November 6th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Since this will probably be the last relative post in a while (we can hope): Trent, have you had a chance to make it over to palinaspresident.com? A coworker forwarded it to me yesterday and I couldn’t help but laugh! Not very PC, but sooo funny!
November 6th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Um, while this blog is known for its celebrity gossip, Trent started it with tidbits about his personal life as well. To ask him to change what he has always done is just plain stupid and incredibly insensitive.
Besides, how could one avoid all of the political talk if it meant a great deal to them.
I think I hear the Republicans calling you, Denise and company. They need your help after waking up yesterday to tremendous losses. Enjoy.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
I like to read about tidbits of Trent’s personal life, and I understand that politics affect everyones lives, so I know that they will always be part of his blog. I’m just voicing my opinion that I like to come here to escape, and really don’t like to be faced with political views all of the time. Whether or not I agree with them is irrelevant.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
I love that Trent talks about politics alongside the gossip of gossness!
We need more people who care about the system and use their voice to stand up for what they believe in.
That should earn our admiration whatever party we belong to.
The entire point of a two party system is that we balance each other out & pleeze its called the UNITED States.
sheesh!
Personally, I’d really enjoy hearing your take on even more political and news events Trent!
November 6th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
I’d like to come here and not read a comment about how much you hate some of the stuff posted here.
It would be a dream to see someone NOT complaining about what someone does on their own blog.
November 6th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
I totally agree with you Margie but some people just cant be happy unless they are complaining about something.
November 6th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
wait hahahahah theres GAY REPUBLICANS!?
LMFAOOOOOOO HAHAHAHAH. oh good god.
anyway people who don’t like obama: can you please stfu and go to some other obama hating blog to be with your fellow kind? please and thanks
god let us have our damn moment in peace.
November 6th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
Wow Laynie, could you even be more of a douche bag?
I love it how you tell people who don’t like Obama to shut up, yet your statement about Republicans being gay is hypocritical and demeaning.
ANYWAYS… I hope Hillary runs again in 2012! Even though I voted for Obama, I really hope Hillary gets it in 2012 but that’s just my opinion. I heard Sarah Palin is running in 2012 as well.
November 6th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
As much as I loved Fey’s Palin, the fact that the real one wasn’t that much of a stretch was scary.
And so SNL will suck once again. But I would rather sacrifice a funny SNL for a Palin-free administration.
Sweet Jesus, Sarah Palin is no longer politically relevant!
I just feel bad for the wolves in Alaska. You know she’s going to take it out on them.
November 6th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
hahahaha wow guys. it says EVERYBODY’S business is my business – pretty sure that covers politicians. you rock trent :)
November 6th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
While I was going for Mccain, I wasn’t a fan of Palin.I also wasn’t a fan of the SNL/Palin thing, besides the fact that SNL hasn’t been remotely funny in a very long time. I think Obama is a brilliant man and I truley hope he makes a difference, but I don’t think he’s the right man for the job. To me Obama is just another celebrity and thats why he won.But well all have to see.
Trent, love the website
November 6th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Sue, I hope that comment was meant in its singular form and directed at Palin. She is of course the same person that didn’t know Africa was a continent. And when the GIANT hint that NAFTA stands for North American Free Trade Agreement, she couldn’t name the countries that are signed into this treaty. Geez, I knew what Nafta was at the age of 10 and I knew Africa was a continent (and not a country) from before I could remember. I am glad we don’t have someone like that with our nuclear codes. So I hope and pray that last comment was directed at Palin.
November 7th, 2008 at 12:39 am
HAHA. Hey. I as an Alaskan WHOLE-HEARTEDLY am glad that she did not become VP (as many other of my AK buddies will agree) and sadly will continue to be stuck with her up here.
Perhaps I should move?
November 7th, 2008 at 7:47 am
oh tara! i really do feel for you right now :(
