JarEdina and Tracy, I’m of the same mind. I certainly don’t hold any ill-will for the girl and I wish her well, but this supposed “comeback” is over-managed and over-orchestrated. Her health problems are real and she should be leading a quiet “normal” life in order to build stability for herself BEFORE attempting a come-back. Boxing her in and throwing her back into public is exactly what she doesn’t need. I pity her for that reason, but I have no pity for her oh-woe-is-me, bird-in-a-gilded-cage attitude. She being told and made to act that way because they want to use public sympathy as a marketing tool, and for no other reason. I pity her because her comeback is just more exploitation when what she probably needs most is peace, quiet and contemplation. And she is a sort of pop idol and pop culture idol, but she isn’t the queen of anything. Madonna earned her title of Queen, we can talk about Brit in 20-30 years…

Ok you know what? Britney is adorable but FORGIVE ME if I don’t have a bag full of sympathy for the girl. She’s got millions of dollars. She doesn’t have a clue what it is like to worry about how you are going to pay your rent or put food on the table for your family. Yes I know mental illness is unfortunate but most of us have bigger problems than Britney will ever have. And given the situation of the economy right now, I will skip this pity party for one of the richest girls in the world.

I just don’t get all the Britney lovers on here…I don’t hate her, but what contributions to pop music has she actually made? Yeah she’s got fun, danceable tracks..but they aren’t legendary or classic. Glad she has it together now but she’s a mess who did no promotion for Blackout and was lazy–besides that, Britney’s voice is pretty awful. I don’t consider myself to be a hateful person towards her, but I feel sorry for the 10-15 yo or around there who have this idea that Britney is the Queen of Pop. Gross.

Pop culture icon of our generation? Wait, what? Whatever. Even Madonna never pulled shi* like Brit Brit…she knew how to hide her feelings, which might not be good, but still. This could be fun to watch but Britney is not a pop icon. She’s a pop culture icon. Big difference. I don’t think her songs will be remembered a hundred years from now, sorry. Madonna, Janet, etc…theirs will. Their pop classics were actually great.

Um, some awards shows are pre taped but the BET and Mtv awards are not. Maybe people are just lying. The whole reason Brit won those VMA’s was because she agreed to open up and let MTV film her. thats how they got so much access to her.
