‘Milk’ Premieres In Hollywood
Sean Penn and his Milk men James Franco, Emile Hirsch, Josh Brolin among others came out to the Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts And Sciences building in Beverly Hills, CA last night for the Hollywood premiere of his new film Milk (the biopic of San Fran’s first openly gay elected politician Harvey Milk). You may recall that Milk already premiered in San Francisco, CA last month but it was high time for the party to make it’s way to LA. Here are a few pics from last night’s red carpet arrivals:
Sean Penn was almost 20 minutes late for the Beverly Hills screening of his new movie, Milk. Living up to his reputation for not being a huge fan of the press, the Hollywood star arrived at the screening at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences at the last possible minute, ignoring TV crews. Sean’s young co-star Emile Hirsch seemed to be following in his footsteps – the Speed Racer star spoke to just a handful of reporters before disappearing inside. However, their co-stars Josh Brolin and James Franco were more willing to chat about the movie, which is based on the true life story of Harvey Milk (played by Sean), San Francisco’s first openly gay leader, who was slain 30 years ago. James said making the film had been a thrill. “It was incredible to be able to shoot in the exact places where this history was taking place, it was inspiring just as an actor and a special thing, a unique experience,” he said. The film is generating plenty of Oscar buzz, but director Gus Van Sant was reluctant to talk of possible Academy Award nominations. “I hope there’s such a thing,” was all he’d say. Stars who attended the LA premiere included Winona Ryder, Vanessa Redgrave and Elizabeth Banks. Relatives of Harvey Milk were also at the screening and Sean’s wife Robin Wright Penn was there to support her Oscar-winning hubby.
I’m very bummed at the timing of last night’s premiere. I was invited to attend but was unable to make it because of my flight home to Detroit. In any event, I deffo plan to see this film as soon as I can. Harvey Milk was a pioneer who paved the way for gays and lesbians to be represented in political office. To think that all these years after his death we are still fighting for equal rights for the GLBT community isn’t surprising, it’s just a shame that he can’t be here to join the struggle.

I’d love to go in SF but prob won’t make it..i hope it doesn’t get violent. We need to show that we have class and dignity while we do fight for our rights’. We are NOT second class citizens!

I know this has nothing to do with the topic at hand…but I used to go to perez at times and it was alright. But I love this site so much more it blows his cheesy ass out of the water, and this place doesn’t show favortism to the extreme that he does/…cheers to whoever the site admin is your doing an awesome job!

Perez is just a bad seed and his site is not fun anymore. Just lame! Agreed with Tyler. I choose Trent’s site because it’s got less ads, better pictures, and it’s easier to navigate. Perez needs help with grammar hahah….I think Trent has some narcissism but it’s ok I don’t mind seeing where you had dinner or what movie you saw it, but it’s funny. So self indulgent us gays are.

The way Trent posts is funny and he judges news but not to the extreme Perez does. Perez has like 4 favorite artists and he praises them and bashes the rest.
PRIME EXAMPLE:
He bashed Britney the entire time she went down her spiral in 2007, and I mean the dude was brutal, she had fucking bi-polar disorder. I would come on here now and again and Trent would post the news and maybe poke a joke about her outfit, ya know. But now that she is better and back on her game, guess who doesn’t post news about her anymore?

And Im done now, sorry for whoring the page, but regarding the topic I am going to the state capital tomorrow to protest prop 8 and equal rights for gays.
Fuck the mormons and Busta Rhymes who poured millions of dollars into the campaign for prop 8. Such ignorant asses.

Tyler, he (Perez) won’t post any news about Britney and A LOT of other artists anymore. He mentioned about a year ago, that he was sued by one of the record labels (don’t remember which one!), and will no longer talk about the artists under that label. He thinks he’s “getting back” at them that way. :) Trent, I just love Trent. His was one of the first blogs I started looking at, and have remained solid with him since.

There’s one in my city, but I have to work. But I whole heartedly support equal rights for all! I love that my work (one of your fave stores, Trent) offers full health benefits and life insurance to team members AND their same-sex domestic partners. Shop the bullseye, bitches!
