Madonna Thankful For Work Distractions
Madonna is going on the record for the first time since she and soon-to-be ex-hubby Guy Ritchie were granted a “quickie divorce” from the London High Court last Friday. Talking to the Associated Press over the weekend, Madonna expressed her gratitude for having work requirements distract her from her personal relationship woes:

Madonna’s marital breakup is tough, but she says she’s grateful that her heavy workload “provides a distraction that keeps me going.” “I’m sad about my personal life, but I feel very blessed and very lucky that I have the opportunity to do what I do in my professional life,” Madonna told The Associated Press in an interview Sunday. “It would be horrible if I was just thinking about getting a divorce and had nothing to do.” Last week, Madonna and Guy Ritchie were granted a preliminary decree of divorce after eight years of marriage. Among her current projects is promoting her documentary “I Am Because We Are,” which explores the impoverished African nation of Malawi, where more than 1 million children are orphaned by AIDS. The film has its TV premiere on Sundance Channel Dec. 1.
Madonna has always been married to her work first. It will always be her first love. That’s just the sort of person she seems to be. While I am very sad that her marriage to Guy Ritchie couldn’t last, I fairly confident that Maddy will be able to live out the rest of her years happily on her own terms. I doubt she will ever marry again, after all, she is sure to have enough work in the coming years to keep her happily occupied and distracted.

This makes me a lot happier to hear this. Good for her. I am sure it is hard. I am happy she is in as good as place as one can be in during this kind of situation!

Me too..but I’m sure she was not the easiest person to be married to, but that is irrelevant I guess. I hope she does find someone who can handle her and three children, and love her regardless of her past. She does deserve it. I was definitely hoping this marriage would last.

I wonder if Madge will ever let herself simply be a family woman. She is not young anymore. I am not the only one wondering.

Nope you aren’t, Andrea. She is a family woman, I think. But she has to continue her career. She’s not the type to just quit. She won’t ever quit. She has this need to keep going and going. I’m surprised that you are saying that about her, since you are also a woman. Should a woman just quit because she’s 50? I don’t think so.

I appreciate her candor. And I don’t ever recall reading or hearing a quote from her in the past about her ever being ’sad about her personal life’. Awww, that IS sad. I feel bad for her whole family, especially her kids.
I think it would be stressful to lose a spouse, experience a public betrayal by a sibling, and reach a milestone age, all in the same year.
On the other hand, look at everything she has accomplished this year… she beat a record held by Elvis Presley, she’s planning a girls’ school in Malawi, and got out from under Warner Bros., all while reaching a milestone age.
As for the whole A-Rod thing, I really don’t know what to think about all of that except that I really hope, for the sake of all the kids involved in both families, that the adults involved weren’t careless with any of their behaviour.
But then again, Madonna said it best when she said “I’m not your bitch, don’t hang your shit on me”. So hopefully she can just bury herself in her work and use these experiences as creative inspiration for another fabulous new album sometime soon!

She hasn’t had a great album since Bedtime Stories. Ray of Light was good, not great. CoAD, eh. American Life was a disaster. And Hard Candy, well let’s just say that is the beginning of the end.

She obviously doesn’t read the tabloids because if she did she would have found out how sickened people are by her constant lack of pants.
