First Look: Rihanna, ‘Rehab’

Co-starring Justin Timberlake
November 18th, 2008

You may recall that last month Rihanna teamed up with Justin Timberlake to shoot a new music video (her 87th) from her latest album Good Girl, Gone Bad. Ri Ri and JT trekked out to the SoCal desert to film sultry scenes for her new single Rehab … here are a few screenshots from the finished product:

I was under the impression that JT would be providing vocals on the track but it turns out that he does not … he merely provides his hot bod for use in the video. After the jump, watch Rihanna’s new music video Rehab in full …

The colors are pretty spectacular and the vid is kinda a’ight but I guess I was expecting more. I’m not a huge fan of pop ballads so I guess this one is OK? I dunno … what do you think? Do y’all like this vid? Who here thinks Rihanna needs to get over the Good Girl album and release some new material already?

I know when the album came out and I heard he was on this track, I was really excited… then I listened to it and all he did was say “now ladies gimme that” quietly in the background… lame. For the video though I guess there is never a bad time to watch JT being hot

  2. Mr. Gyllenhaal Says:

On the last day of TRL on MTV Justin said he wrote this whole song. I never knew that, did anyone else? Just wondering if anyone else saw that? So he doesn’t sing but he wrote it!

  3. Nancy Says:

I literally laughed out loud when i saw this.
first off, rihanna’s outfits are rediculous, it’s too much. i liked the vibe of the video and JT is a hottie, but her acting was actually funny, and i couldn’t get past the weird wardrobe picks. Also, was that a hat and leather gloves she was wearing? in the desert? leaving JT???

JT should have nixed the leather jacket too, on second thought. but he was working it.

  4. Nicole. Says:

i cant stand the outfits shes been wearing lately. the colours in the video are alright….but really…this video would be nothing without JT.

  5. Cristina Says:

I actually liked the video, but reading Mr. Gyllenhaal’s comment makes perfect sense to me because as soon as I heard the song, it reminded me of Justin Timberlake’s “What Goes Around.” Justin does contribute a few words in the bridge.

Typically, Rihanna’s voice sounds to me like she’s whining and I have no tolerance for it, but I like this song!

  6. Rach Says:

I agree with you Cristina it reminds me of what goes around, but it also reminds me of still on my brain aswell.
Yeah i read he wrote this when the album came out like a century ago. I wonder who he wrote the song for cos the lyrics are amazing or do you think he just wrote the song cos he felt like it.

  7. Janice Says:

Yeah, it’s okay. Like you said, the colors are amazing. And no doubt, Ri Ri & JT are hot.

  8. cheryl Says:

Like the black/white mixed race thing. We need to see more interracial stuff.

  9. liza Says:

love the video…or maybe i just love JT….he is really hot and looking very sexy.

  10. Nicola Says:

Woot, it’s one of my fav songs to sing to on the album :)

  11. nae Says:

i’ll take whatever i can get of JT. mmmmm!!! =]

  12. LaLaLa Says:

    wooooooot JT
he should release stuff again its been 2 years too long:(

  13. JarEdina Monsoon Says:

JT is still ‘hot’ but in a cute way. He’s so full of himself that it makes me sick. Ruins all fantasies. And RiRis is starting to bug me. Disturbia is a terrible song. Awful!

  14. Sarah Says:

Hmm Im a HUGE fan of Justin, and a fan of Rihanna and I always loved this song, its always been my favorite since the first time i heard it when i bought the cd, but i thought justin had a little more vocals, perhaps im wrong but i could of swore he sang a little in it in the song, i guess ill have to listen to it from my cd again. and the video…was absolutely one of the worst videos ive ever seen!! both of them make great videos separate, what the hell happened!?! they shouldnt of even of made it, there was hardly a storyline to it, it didnt follow the song and it was ridiculous, i could of made a video better than that!! whoever directed it, did a horrible job, honestly, im really dissapointed, it was a pain to watch.

  15. chase Says:

    UGH.

    I agree Trent!

she definitely needs to get over this album and release some new material already!

It’s so annoying its been like what? 6 songs + off the album?

    ANNOYING.

  16. Scott Says:

Seems to me that whoever dreamt up this concept was a little too inspired by the Posh and Becks photo spread in W last year.

  17. ty Says:

okay, first of all…yes, justin wrote this song. if you listen to the words, the song was actually written for Britney Spears. listen to the words closely. Britney was supposed to record this with justin and timbaland but it never happened because of her problems at the time.

also, this is Rihanna’s 7th single off this album, wtf. her singles were Umbrella, Shut up and Drive, Don’t Stop the Music, Hate that I love you (featuring Ne0Yo)Take a Bow, Disturbia, and now Rehab. wtf?! lol…she needs to give this album a rest now. i think she’s only releasing these songs because she’s low on $$. remember that story that she only had like $200,000 in her checking account? if not, look it up. so she needs to sell more records to make $. i think her money problems are far from over, but i think she’s milking this album for all it’s worth.

honestly, i think this album was a fluke. i mean, if you look at all of rihanna’s other albums they didn’t do as great as GGGB. i think she just had hit after hit by luck. maybe she’ll have the success she’s had in the future, but this video is boring =( personally, i don’t like the girl and think she’s a bit overrated. her voice is great and she makes good music, but that’s about it. she’s not really a great entertainer and she can’t really dance. rihanna is definitely not the new britney…their styles aren’t even the same.

  18. Vanessa Says:

Justin did in fact, write Rehab, along with Timbaland.. So it makes sense that he’s in the video, even though he doesn’t provide any vocals for the song.

  19. Brittny Says:

I love this song, but she seriously needs to start putting out new music. This was one of my faves at the beginning of 07.

  20. April Says:

Rihanna rocks..her hits are definitely not a fluke!?!?! Haters….probably blinded Britney lovers (bleh)

This song sounds good to me!!!!! I like the music and her voice sounds great as usual.

  21. Stephanie Says:

whew, time for some new music, girl…this was my favourite song of summer 07. thats saying something.
as for justin writing this song, the instant i heard it i thought “THIS SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND!”
so being the huge nerds we are, me and a friend downloaded the karaoke version of Rehab, and sang the words to What Goes Around Comes Around…it all matches up perfect, its so weird. i still want to marry him though :)

  22. WithLove Says:

This songs sounds like He wrote it about who else…. Britney considering it feels like he’s still hurt about their breakup it makes perfect sense sounds like What Goes Around which is also about Britney Hello!

  23. Tracy Says:

Justin doesnt need to do anything but stand there. He is so ridiculously gorgeous. Yum.

  24. Sarah Says:

i love this song and always have!

  25. nicole Says:

yesssssssssssss!! thank you! hahaha. i felt like this song sounded JUST like ‘what goes around’ when i first heard it… and i kept telling everyone i knew that liked her album, and they all just looked at me like i was crazy! haha.

  26. zahra Says:

i’m not very impressed at all, the vocals were kinda mediocre. i thought this was going to be some amazing duet, but this was song and video was very dissapointing.

  27. Mer Mer Says:

    1. Yes- I agree with you pinksters…that Riri’s outfits were ridiculous.

    2. JT was manwh0ring it and I love every second of it.
