Woot! A new day has dawned here in America … and the World … and while there is still much to celebrate, there is also much work to get done in the aftermath. It’s also time to get back to the goss ;) Yesterday I created a photo album of friends and Pink readers proudly showing off the I Voted stickers (or handmade signs) that they were given after they voted yesterday and today we get to see a whole bunch of photos of celebs showing off their I Voted stickers, too. Americans came out in record numbers to vote yesterday and those numbers included celebs … here are a few of them who exercised their right to vote yesterday:

Depending on where the celebs live, these photos were snapped in NYC and here in LA. Here is another batch of celebs who came out to vote yesterday:

I’m pretty sure that some of these celebs were voting for President for the first time in their lives and it seems pretty safe to assume that the lion’s share of them added to President-elect Barack Obama‘s historic win.
I’ve been getting emails and messages from around the World of folks cheering on Obama‘s victory as news of his election as the 44th President of the United States of America made headlines around the world. Here are a few of the UK papers splashing the news across their covers:

David tells me that newsstands all over NYC are selling out of copies of The New York Times, etc. so I would suggest that y’all snap up your local newspapers — wherever in the country you are — and put them away for posterity. I’m just sayin’ ;)
Madonna was in concert in San Diego, CA last night and was on stage when news of Obama‘s win was announced … she happily broke the news to her assembled audience and talked a little bit about the momentous nature of the win while on stage. After the jump, check out video of her impromptu speech …
OH yeah, we all know that Maddy was a huge proponent of Obama‘s campaign for the White House, she looked pretty ecstatic on that stage :) I, personally, am a little politicked out. I’m very sad that Prop 8 may yet still win (as of this morning they were still counting ballots, 3 million absentee ballots have yet to be counted) but I’m hopeful that the struggle for EQUAL RIGHTS for ALL AMERICANS will come one day soon. I’ve always believed that marriage rights for all will come to this country on a national level not a state-by-state level. I look forward to the day when the Supreme Court rules that EQUAL RIGHTS should be enjoyed by all Americans much like they did when they outlawed segregation in this country. BUT … that is a conversation for another day. Today, we revel in our new President-elect and we carry on towards a hopeful new tomorrow.

I’ve got my L.A. Times and last week’s L.A. Weekly in hand. Now I’m waiting for this week’s L.A. Weekly’s publication. They’re deffo going into plastic and storage.
GObama!
Obama’s win is bittersweet because of Prop 8. This victory shows how far we’ve come but the passing of Prop 8 shows that we have a LONG way to go.
in reference to the first picture of Ryan Phillippe, I should have sent you an e-mail with pictures: I met him last saturday night at Truman State University where he spoke to a crowd of about fifty about voting for Obama! He only met with people who Volunteered for the Obama Campaign, and I’ve never been so happy to do things for free.
Good luck with Prop 8 :( although I hear another one that passed was to stop gays from adopting in Arkansas. That sounds horrifically unfair. I have a relative from Wisconson who is gay and she adopted her son who is my age, and I’m pretty sure he’s just fine. I’ve not met him, though.
Yeah the UK papers are stuffed with “YAY OBAMA” material. Heres to improved relations between our two nations ^__^
Congratulations to my US neighboors for electing Obama.
We had our Canadian Election a few weeks ago and it was a total snore compared to yours.
[...] here: Celebs Voted! Posted in Online Business on Nov 5th, 2008, 10:45 [...]
Prop 102 passed in AZ too! Very sad I think. I just don’t get it! I mean AZ is conservative but California isn’t. I don’t know what to think now that AZ is going to ammend the constitution saying marriage is between a man and a woman. That is going to take quite a while to change! BULLSHIZ!!! Close minded people SUCK!!
That’s a terrible pic of Obama on the daily mirror! They could have picked one of him smiling lol
Who is the celeb in line in the last pic?
I was at that Madonna show last night and it was amazing. Madonna knows how to put on a show and it was great how she kept bringing up Obama. The crowd went nuts, it was great.
Annie — er, it’s Lo from ‘The Hills’ so … mebbe it was a stretch to call her a celebrity ;)
I was on the floor at the Madge show last night and it was pure magic! I loved the Obama shirts she and her dancers wore at the end.
Mr. Gyllenhaal, actually the majority of California is pretty conservative, if you look at the distribution of people that voted No on 8, they were mostly on the coast. LA county actually voted Yes on 8….which is contrary to most.
I just assumed Cali was liberal because you guys are such a blue state. I guess Arnold did get elected! Either way, it sucks!
Trent,
what did Hayden Christensen just drive Rachel to the polls and go in and watch her vote? He’s from British Columbia.
Im happy he won. He had my vote. Im in FL and im very upset with ALOT of ppl here.. Our pop 2 (for only men and woman to get hitched) yeah it passed. I felt so sick when my hubby told me. One day… One day
OMG lol – I thought the celeb in line (in the last pic) was the guy – but didn’t know who he was. ha ha, I was thinking “it’s not David Schwimmer…” too funny! :)
Heather — unless Hayden has become a naturalized citizen then yes, he prolly just accompanied Rachel to the polls. I know that Heidi Klum was able to vote yesterday because she became a US citizen earlier this year.
Ibought a copy of the National Post with Obama on the cover, it actually does a great job covering not only the election but facts about past presidents and it breaks down what the future holds for Mr. Obama. I want to keep if for my children so they can kick ass at history assignments!
Madonna was AWESOME last night!!!!!! (thanks for the email on her opening act, trent ;D )
we knew that obama won before the concert even began , so that set the night up fabulously. you could tell madonna was stoked the whole time :)
Somewhat random, but last night, when NBC called the election on their live-stream, I started checking all the other network websites to see if they had called it.
Fox News’ website had a big banner saying “Obama Wins”, or something to that effect. Next to the words was the most horrible picture of Obama, in which his face was half obscured my a frickin’ CELL PHONE.
Passive Aggressive much? Like with all the glorious promo pics of this man floating about, they could not find one where his face was not obscured?
Ha ha, made me laugh. I think they have since put up a better pic.
