Britney Spears Thrills The Audience In France On ‘Star Academy’
Britney Spears was the featured performer on the French competitive reality TV program Star Academy last night and she managed to bring the house down! Performing her single Womanizer in front of a packed house of rabid French fans, Britney performed the second of three live appearances that she has scheduled in Europe this week (the first was in Germany on Thursday night, the last will be in the UK tonight). Here are a few screencaps from her live performance last night:

Britney Spears wowed French fans on TV on Friday when she performed her new hit Womanizer on talent show Star Academy. A night after making her first major comeback performance since the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards – at the 2008 Bambi Awards in Germany – Spears was in Paris for her TV turn. Wearing a flashy red corset dress, she sent fans wild with a lip-synced performance. Spears will complete her whistle-stop tour on Saturday night when she performs on TV talent show The X Factor.
Two down, one more to go. Last night’s performance in France was very much like the one she gave in Germany except for the obvs costume change and amped up energy level. The more stoic crowd in Germany make Brit’s performance feel more stunted … last night’s raucous crowd gave her the electricity she needed to turn in a more vibrant performance. I suspect that tonight’s performance on X-Factor will feature the same Womanizer routine, possibly with yet another costume change. After the jump, check out video of Britney’s performance on Star Academy last night …
Again, I felt like there was more life in our dear Britney in this performance than the one she turned in in Germany … but it still feels like she is warming up to the whole live performance thing again. Some folks are still finding every single excuse to harp on Britney, finding fault wherever they like, but I absolutely commend her for taking things slow, being careful to ease back into live performing again. She has all the time in the world to prepare herself for more elaborate performances … I think it is very wise for her to not overdo it right off the bat. I am very much looking forward to seeing her performance on X-Factor later on today.

She looks stunning! And you are so right, the crowd really dictates the performance. I cannot wait for her tour. Her fans are anxious and are so excited, surely she will be electric on stage. AH!

She looks great!! I always cared for this girl, Im a lot bigger than she is and always felt some kind of parental concern for her and understood why she could fall like she did. It is so good to see her back on her feet and looking great even though she still has a lot to deal with, she is working on it and it looks.
It seems she felt a little uncomfortable with the dress but a good performance nontheless. It is not easy to get back on that horse but she´ll feel comfotable again and I´m confident she´ll be able to perform like she used to, with all that energy and charisma that was so particular to her. Go Brit!

This performance was much better than the one in Germany (Phew!). However, I don’t believe it was because the audience was more receptive. If anything the audience is dependent on the performance, not the other way around.

AMAZING! Brit is definitely back. I thought it was great to see the performance in Germany, but this one I thought was miles above. She seemed so much more comfortable and into it. I loved her swishing her skirt around and really getting into it with the audience. So great to see!!

Amazing, much better than The Bambi Awards, which Means The “x factor” will be hotter, and then GMA yay!!!!
Can – not – wait.

That was not good.. does she even know how to dance anymore? I commend her for the strides she’s made in the last year, but her movements were just as stiff and uninspired as the disastrous VMA performance.
Hopefully she will improve.

remember when people used to feel obligated to insist that they didn’t lip sync? I’m glad people just openly do it now haha. buuut i kinda think that if she can’t perform better than that everyone should’ve chilled out and waited longer for her to release her album… still love her though.

Eek, it looks like someone about had a wardrobe malfunction… someone fire her tailor. Otherwise, I can’t help but smile when I watch Brit performing like this again.
