Britney Spears Performs, Collects Award At The Bambi Awards
"Not only as a phoenix but as a bird of paradise"

Britney Spears was one of the featured performers at the 60th Annual Bambi Awards in Offenburg, Germany last night and, by pretty much all accounts, managed to pull off not only a successful live performance but a wholly entertaining one as well. Performing her hit single Womanizer, Britney turned the stage at the Bambi Awards into her own three-ring circus. Additionally, our dear Britney was honored, by trophy presenter Karl Lagerfeld, with an award of her own being named the Best International Popstar. Here are a few screencaps from Britney‘s performance last night:

Ahead of her highly anticipated visit to London this weekend, Britney Spears has cemented her comeback with a knockout performance at the 60th annual Bambi Awards in Germany. The superstar performed alongside Pink and Leona at the star studded bash, where there was a random array of award recipients including Lewis Hamilton and Meg Ryan. Britters collected an award herself for Best International Popstar and designer Karl Lagerfield was gushing when he presented the star with her award. He told her “I admire you, not only for your art but also for your energy, for your comeback not only as a phoenix but as a bird of paradise. And it’s great.” Britney’s extravagant circus inspired performance was a hit with the crowd with the superstar looking back to best in a madonna-esque outfit Earlier this week it was confirmed Spears will play two concerts at the O2 in London next June as part of her forthcoming world tour.

Woot! She looked great! The performance was well executed, well staged and perfectly timed … stage one of her European promo tour went off without a hitch. Collecting another award for her accomplishments was just the icing on the cake. Lagerfeld is right in saying that Britney is more than just a phoenix rising from the ashes … she has always been so much more than that. And it was so nice of Madonna to lend her that outfit to wear ;) After the jump, check out a few more photos of her performance, a few photos of Britney in the press room posing with her trophy and (prolly what you’re really interested in seeing) video of Britney‘s full performance …

Look at the determination, not to mention her rockin’ ass:

She really does look like she’s back to her old self:

And here is Britney‘s circus-themed performance of Womanizer (Remix) in full:

I know it’s a bit much to hope for but I would really love it if Brit‘s performance in France on Star Academy tonight and in London on X-Factor tomorrow night were different routines. As much as I loved this performance, I am hoping for new routines to come … not sure if we’ll get that but here’s hoping! What did y’all think … did she kill it or what?

I liked it but it seemed like she was just walking around the stage, just like in the VMAs, only this time she didn’t look like a deer in headlights and she probably had lots more fun. Additionally, for me to be a great Britney performance, it doesn’t necessarily has to has live singing (that’s just too much too ask for if it’s not a concert), but it definitely has to have the awesome choreography and this one just didn’t do it for me. Maybe if she would have been the one to be inside the giant ball it would have had some kind of unexpected circus-y element. I think she’s not still quite there yet, but like lindsey said: “We can’t expect too much too soon, right?!” Overall, 3/5 stars for effort.

it makes me so annoyed when people say, “she copied Madonna!” get over it.

its not like Madonna owns that outfit or the first to wear one like it. And I believe she was barely singing live because I can hear her voice in some parts. Britney can lipsynch really well…

and, the crowd, did in fact, look dead.
they looked completely too old for her performance. It is equivalent to her performing at the Golden Globes

  3. Sasha says:

Yeah i know what your saying Nicole and dont get me wrong she is usually great at lip-syncing but i suppose its what everyones been saying that she just wasn’t into it 100% it was only at the end that i noticed it and sometimes during the performance she wasn’t singing or lip syncing at all. But is till loved seeing her back on the stage though and i think she looked gorgeous :)

  4. chase says:

P.S. I believe people need to give her some slack. After all, this is her first performance in YEARS. She’s barely putting her feet in the water. I’m sure she’ll feel more confident tonight. And those hideous boots made her incapable of dancing, jeez! I know Britney is used to dancing in heels, but those things are just ridiculous.

  5. Nicole says:

She lip-synced and she is NOTHING like she used to be. She’s a HAS-BEEN. I found her more entertaining as the hollywood trainwreck. Granted, it was not as bad as the VMA performance (which is not saying much) but it was still a bore. I don’t cut slack. Either perform well, or don’t bother. Maybe she should focus on being allowed to have her children and putting some effort into that album before she tries displaying herself on stage again… and WHAT was Karl Lagerfield thinking? I bet CoCo Chanel is rolling over in her grave right now.

  6. La Princesa says:

I think she’s singing live in some parts. With this remix, how can sing it all live anyhow?

Besides, WHO CARES?!?!?! She entertained us. Period!

  7. Tiffany says:

Wow. Where’s the AMAZING part you guys are talking about? She walked on the stage, wiggled a bit, moved her head and dressed like Madonna. Yeah. Best. Performance. Ever. NOT :-/

  8. Missy says:

    That was mediocre at best.

  9. Sasha says:

Woah your all being a bit harsh on the girl i mean you have to remember this is like her first performance since the vma’s and its not surprising shes going to be crapping it right? wouldnt you be? and that is a tough crowd to perform to aswell i think everyone needs to cut her a bit of slack remember it was negative press and comments that drove her to her breakdown! Instead of slating her we should be embracing the fact that this women is back on the right path again. I’m right yeah?

  10. cer says:

to be honest i believe that if anything the outfit is sort of an homage to madonna, no? i mean, i’d like to believe so! she was great and that smile at the end, so precious!!

  11. Belle says:

I thought she did well, but it seemed like her performance didn’t really fit the venue and the tone of that awards show. Granted, I didn’t see the whole thing, I’m just basing it off that one clip. I also think it’s a little weird how they mixed the “I got your crazy” parts into that performance. Something about mentioning “crazy” on repeat while she performs seems a little…uncool.

  12. Monica says:

I think she looked phenomenal but she needs to show us what she does best and that is the hot dance moves. This felt more like a little taste of what’s to come rather than a “It’s Britney Bitch” type of comeback performance. She is a superstar and although she still definitely knows how to own the stage, I kept waiting for the awesome dance-break. Give the people what they want Britney – you can do it!

  13. diana says:

The fact that near the middle she visibly claps right in front of her chest, when there is no sound but voice/music in the song, and it did not make a sound whatsoever in the song?

    wow

    what skill

Hardly any of us could get up and do a job as good as she did performing up there,

but to be a showgirl pretending to be a singer isn’t very authentic

  14. marge says:

great performance! the crowd was a tad tough. was that lip sync though? yeah, i agree the smile at the end was Brit!!!

  15. Sarah says:

Sorry but although she looks great, the performance wasn’t that great. I just feel like we are too easy on her. If she is going to put together an album, tour, etc, she is expected to give great performances and if you took away that amazing set and her energetic dancers, she HERSELF was just okay. She barely danced, the dance moves themselves were beginner’s level and she didn’t exude much passion. We let go that she doesn’t sing live. Then when she barely dances we are like, well it may be too much too soon. I just feel like, don’t come back unless you are absolutely 100% ready to give to your fans what they deserve – an amazing performance.

  16. PixieBassline says:

    *DISGUST*

  17. calirific says:

I agree with sarah. It seems very palinesque to be proud just because she didn’t mess up. that’s not really something to be proud about. Maybe it’s not all her fault, maybe the tragic state of the music industry coupled with the fact that her VMA performance may not have lead people to invest in her much and for that she didn’t get the best choreography. i’m sure it must be hard to have to make it look amazing, but if it were any upstart musician it would have been the end. If she’s ready to come back then great but give 110%. no matter what you say without fans she wouldn’t have a job, the least she could do is honor them for their devotion, cause lord knows brit fans have been super devoted over the years when they’ve had no reason to be.

  18. hmmmmmmmmmm says:

WOW! The back up dancers were GREAT! The costume and set designers were GREAT! …but was britney there? cause I didn’t notice her.

  19. Ashley says:

Oh, I have such mixed feelings. I was scared for her, and I kept waiting for her to break out into a dance routine, but she didn’t. I still love her, and she looks great, and so was that smile! But I’m just hoping that X Factor will blow everyone away (haters!) and just wow.

  20. Lex says:

i hope when she tours she at least sings a few songs live!!
pink can still sing live when she is being spun from the ceiling.
i think lil brit can manage… her dancing isnt even particularly rigourous anymore anyway!

    p.s. i love britney anyway.
