Beyoncé Does ‘V’ Magazine
"When I'm onstage I'm aggressive and strong and not afraid of my sexuality... I'm just a different person"

Beyoncé (aka Sasha Fierce) is on the cover (all three of them) and in the pages of the new issue of V magazine and in her coverstory interview talks about the other side of her personality that comes out when she is on stage. A fitting topic, considering B is getting ready to embark on a 110-date world tour very soon. Here is Beyoncé‘s V mag cover (one of three) and a portion of her interview:

She’s known as the sexy, strong, fierce singer famous for her stylish outfits and curvy figure. But Beyoncé sheds her tough outer skin to reveal a softer side in a new interview as she begins the exhaustive preparations for her 110-date tour starting next year. “When I’m onstage I’m aggressive and strong and not afraid of my sexuality. The tone of my voice gets different, and I’m fearless. I’m just a different person.” And the name of that different person? Her alter ego, ‘Sasha Fierce’, whose name is the title of the second CD of her new 17-track double album. “It’s a way for me to differentiate what I do onstage from who I really am – It’s a way for me to not lose myself, to keep my life in perspective, because it’s really hard sometimes to stay on earth when you’re a celebrity. There’s so much going on, and so many people give you whatever you want and say everything you do is great. At this point, I kind of have it down. I know boundaries, and I can look at somebody and say I don’t want them in my circle. I’ve been doing this for twelve years professionally, and I’ve learned. it’s easier now. Fame is a lot of work, but it doesn’t consume my life. I’m not obsessed.” The singer tells V Magazine (www.vmagazine.com) that her new tour will be “stripped down, but also bigger” than 2007′s appropriately titled ‘Beyoncé Experience’ … “It’s funny because right before the show I’m under the stage making sure my double-stick is in the right place, my pack is turned on, and my shoes have the stickies on the bottom so I don’t slip – all of these things that are so not glamorous. Then I take my last slip of water, clear my throat, close my eyes, and tell myself: ‘You are fierce. You are fierce. You are fierce!’ And the second I take that first step and hear the crowd, I kind of transform. By the time I get up to the stage, I’m in the zone. It’s like I’m ready for war.”

Okay … I’m not trying to hate but she does sound a little bit crazy here. I mean, I get that she feels she has an alter-ego when she gets on stage but to talk to that alter-ego and name it … and then utter “you are fierce, you are fierce, you are fierce” is a bit odd. I am so amused by the famously wealthy. After the jump, check out a few pics from Beyoncé‘s V magazine spread as well as the alternate magazine covers …

You can’t tell from these pics but Beyoncé was rockin’ Barack Obama painted fingernails on two of the magazine covers. The girl may be a bit wacky but you gotta love the Obama lurve. The photos are bit ZZZZZ but don’t tell her that. She’s fierce.

I didn’t think anything she said was odd. I’ve never been a big fan of hers but she seems smart to me and sounds like she takes what she does seriously. It’s totally understandable given who she is as a celebrity why she does this. Celebrities have to put on a certain persona to perform at a level that people want to see. I’d imagine it’s hard to be motivated every single time she’s performing. It makes sense that she’d have pep talks with her self. Why is that anymore weird than people projecting themselves all over blogs?

I’ve kept alter-egos before, so it doesn’t sound crazy to me.
On the other hand, this feels just a wee bit fake to me… as if she is trying to piggback off Rihanna’s weirdness.
On the other hand, Rihanna copies Beyonce all the time. Am I shocked? No.

She did NOT come up with an alter ego. I am so sick of reading misinformation and just plain stupidity. This is the story:

From her very first performance in the nineties when she was a little girl in elementary school, it was noticed by her teachers, family, and friends that Beyonce became a completely different person when she was on stage. She was louder, wilder, and bolder. A few years ago, her cousin Angie named the person on stage, who was so obviously different from the shy, quiet, and introverted Beyonce. Angie gave the name “Sasha.” Beyonce just recently added the word “fierce” to that name.

It is not a publicity stunt, it is not “wacky” or crazy. It is who she is, and she’s honest about it. And every performer has something that they do to pump themselves up before a show, for example, Ciara does “don’t drop the pizza” before all of her shows. When did it become crazy to five yourself a pep talk befire a tough task I do it all the time before I take exams. Come to think of it, I go by a nickname too. Well, I guess that makes me crazy too. BTW, the Sasha disc is the best disc. Single Ladies, I’m a Diva, Video Phone, and Ego are awesome. If you don’t like it, don’t listen. If one does not like her, they should stop reading stories about her and commenting. Or is that a concept that is too hard for some to grasp?
