Ashlee Simpson Still Pregs, Still In Labor

Prolly rethinking this "baby thing" right about now
November 18th, 2008

Jessica Simpson, big sis to pregs little sis Ashlee Simpson, paid a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday to tape an appearance and revealed to Ellen that Ash still hasn’t given birth yet. As you may recall, Pete Wentz canceled an appearance on CNN’s Larry King Live show on Friday night because, it is believed, that wifey Ashlee went into labor … and here we are 4 days later and still no baby — which means, doctors may have to induce soon:

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is so eager to finally give birth that she may induce labor, her sister Jessica Simpson says. “They’re going to have to. It’s already developing really quick,” Jessica said Monday at a taping of the The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ashlee – described by husband Pete Wentz more than two weeks ago as due at any moment – has already tried other ways to begin labor. “Different foot massages and stuff,” Jessica told DeGeneres in the show airing Wednesday. “I don’t know. I think she’s really just jumping around trying everything right now.”

If Jessica Simpson really thinks that Ashlee is “jumping around” trying to get that baby to fall out of her uterus then she is dumber than was previously believed. Hopefully she was just trying to be cheeky instead of moronic. Being in labor for days and days cannot be fun (not that the actual birthing of the baby is any piece of cake) and I sincerely hope that little baby Simpson-Wentz comes soon. Who knows, today might be the day at long last.

  1. Ashlee Says:

I took Jessica’s comment to mean that Ashlee is jumping from thing to thing, not literally jumping…perhaps I misunderstood your post?
I can’t wait for the pictures of little SimpsonWentz!

This has nothing to do with this…how excited are you for tonight?! Leslie & I can hardly contain ourselves ; )

  3. Winona Says:

I highly doubt she’s been in labor for “days” – after more than 24 hours in labor, wouldn’t a doctor decide that the baby isn’t coming out by natural means and perform a c-section? I hope both she and the baby are doing alright.

  4. Lori Says:

As someone who works in L & D I can tell you that due dates are only an estimate and that she probably has not actually been “in labor” for days. Due dates can be off by as much as two weeks.

  5. DivaPie Says:

My sister was in labor from approx midnight on a Thursday and despite numerous visits to the hospital in between, the Dr FINALLY gave her the pitocin to induce delivery by the following Tuesday evening! Sometimes it can be slow and drawn out, especially if it’s her first child which was the case for my sister.

All I can say is I wish health and happiness to the new arrival, whenever it happens!

P.S. Being active such as ‘jumping around’ or even having sex can speed up labor as well ;)

I love Ashlee and hope that baby comes soon! I know first babies can be late and many times the doctors have to induce. I am having my first in March and I hope it is not as late as Ashlee’s is! Good luck and can’t wait to see the little one and find out if it is a boy or a girl!!

  7. Jennie Says:

I have 1 child from the time my water broke until he was born was 5 hours and 18 min. everyone is different

  8. Zanne Says:

You really can be in labor for days but we’re not necessarily talking about the really hard labor. My contractions started on a Tuesday afternoon, stopped that night, started the next evening and my son was born on a Thursday morning. Only about three hours of it was really uncomfortable though so it’s really not such a bad thing. 1st babies usually are “late” but being induced is really horrible (unless the mother has a serious medical condition) b/c it’s so much more painful and 1/2 of all inducements end up being emergency C-sections. Physical activity (like jumping) is a much better way for a [low-risk] pregnant woman to get labor started. This natural childbirth public service announcment was brought to you by The Thinking Woman’s Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer! :) Good luck, Ashlee!

  9. Zanne Says:

BTW, Trent, I think you owe Jessica an apology for the “dumber than was previously believed” comment since we’ve established that pregnant women can and do “jump around” to get labor started! ;)

  10. kt420 Says:

she may be dumb but she got that part right…jumping around induces labor trent!!! :) :)

  11. It's Trent, Bitch! Says:

I stand corrected but she’s still kinda dumb ;)

  12. Joanena Says:

She should try eating a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs, that worked for me to induce labor!

  13. Trish Says:

It is fairly common for women, especially first time mothers to have regular contractions for days before the baby comes. It is call prodromal labor and prepare the uterus for the hard work ahead. With my first I had it for weeks, it was terrible. Hopefully her doctors are smart enough to let the baby come on its own instead of inducing, unless she is 2+ weeks past her due date. Babies know when they are ready and shouldn’t be forced out with drugs before that in normal circumstances.

  14. Christy Says:

My last I was induced it took from 6 am Fri to 7 am Sun to have my son ,unlike my 1st 45 min after I got to the hospital she was born. Each birthing experience is different and I wish Ashley well.

Jessica deserves no apologies. She has no freaking clue how labor works. You do not get induced becasue you are eager to become a mother. What an idiot!

The baby will make its way into the world when it is ready and no sooner! IDIOTS!

  20. Lynn Says:

Actually parents schedule c-sections ALL THE time to have the child on their terms. I know this because my hospital that I work at schedules them every day of the week for the parents convienance. 3 our of 4 deliveries at my particular hospital are via c-section… That doesn’t mean I support this particular action, but it’s pretty common now. And yes, you can be induced because you want your child out sooner, as long as you are 38+ weeks. I agree with Trish, but we live in a society that many feel they want things to occur on their terms. This is pretty obvious when you look at the stats on how many people get an epidural… Epidurals have a tendency (not always) to prolong labor, thus pitocin is used to create stronger contractions which means the epidural must be increased etc. It’s a terrible cycle. It’s good that Ashley is getting out and moving. Just like Trish said, this will help get labor moving along :o)

C-Sections and inducing are TOTALLY different, bitches! Leave it to celebrities to go around demanding to give birth on their schedule because they are too damn impatient. Get real! Let’s focus on what is important – the health of your child. If you need be induced, let the medical professionals decide.

  24. Michelle Says:

You know I hear a good way to induce labor is to have sex… maybe someone should let ole Petey know that so he can help his wifey. Not that if I were as big as a house and ready to pop I would want to get it on but hey, whatever works right?!

  25. Lauren Says:

I doubt Ashlee has been in labor since Friday. It’s possible, but rather unlikely. My guess is that they had a little false labor alarm, and Pete played it safe and canceled his engagement. It happens all the time because you are so darn anxious to give birth any extra twinge makes you think “this is it” Good for them for keeping anything going on to themselves. Babies are stressful enough without having to share them with the world
