Thanks, Y’All!

The TV Guide
Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Just want to send out lots of love and thanks to all y’all out there today. This year has been another great one for me and it is due, in large part, to all the wonderful things made available to me by this blog. David and I have had a great year together and the new year looks even better. All of my family and friends are happy and healthy and despite the scary economic times that are plaguing our country right now, I am happy to report that the people that I love most are hanging in there and are managing fairly well. I am THRILLED beyond belief that we elected Barack Obama as our next President … I think I may be thankful for that most of all. But really, I am thankful that so many of y’all continue to allow me to write this amazingly fun blog day after day, month after month, year after year. It is a gift I don’t know that I will ever be able to repay. So … Happy Thanksgiving, y’all:

I hope y’all have a great day today. XOXOXOX

Lynne Spears Is Thankful, Britney Spears Is Gettin’ Down To Biz

It all gets underway tonight
Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Lynne Spears is talkin’ to the press again this week and in a new interview with the UK program Good Morning Television on ITV talks at length about her daughter Britney Spears and some of the trials and tribulations the girl has suffered, only to break thru and emerge happy and healthy once again. Case in point, Britney is set to perform at the Bambi Awards in Germany tonight before she takes her performance promo tour to France (where she will perform on Star Academy), England (where she will perform on X-Factor and reportedly at G-A-Y nightclub) and then New York City (where she will perform on Good Morning America) … then she’s got a documentary, an album, a new music video AND tour to come. Here is a promo pic that was snapped on the set of Brit’s new music video Circus and some excerpts of Lynne’s interview with GMTV:

Lynne Spears certainly has plenty to be thankful for. In the past year, she has watched her famous daughter Britney crawl back from the brink. Just how did the 27-year-old singer rebound from her pair of forced hospitalizations and a long string of erratic behavior, including her quickly annulled Vegas wedding in 2004 and her infamous head-shaving in 2007? “With a lot of love and care and help,” Lynne said Thursday, speaking to the U.K.’s GMTV via satellite from New Orleans. “Sometimes you have to just settle down. You have to stop, think. And there’s a lot of people that care about Britney and love Britney – and Britney’s doing great now.” And while the singer still hasn’t regained custody of her two sons, Lynne had nothing but praise for her daughter’s parenting skills. “Oh she’s a wonderful mother – she’s funny, she’s extremely affectionate,” said the Spears matriarch, who was promoting her memoir, Through the Storm. “[At] home, where there’s nobody around, she’s very normal.” Britney – fresh off the success of her first single, “Womanizer” – is currently in Europe promoting her new album, Circus. And she’s scheduled to go on a worldwide concert tour next year. “I think Britney’s just ready to get started again,” said her mom. “I think this is when she’s most in her element.”

Ready or not (and I sincerely hope she’s ready), here she comes. It all gets underway tonight … Britney will take to the stage at the Bambi Awards for her first live performance since the 2007 MTV VMAs and will set in motion a musical comeback that will (hopefully) set the world on fire and allow her to soar to the heights of success and fame that she once enjoyed back in the day. This week will be a crazy whirlwind for our dear Britney … her schedule is jam-packed with appearances and performances — and we’re about to see if she can pull it off. My heart and my gut tell me that she can, I just hope they’re right. It’s on now, bitches. Can she really do it this time?

Spencer Pratt Speaks, Honeymoon To Be Featured On ‘The Hills’

The real deal
Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Spencer Pratt, newly wedded to long-time girlfriend Heidi Montag in a surprise elopement ceremony in Mexico last Thursday, is going on the record for the first time since the nuptials were announced this week. Speaking to Us Weekly magazine, Spencer laughs off reports that his marriage to Heidi is not legal. Additionally, MTV has announced that portions of the Speidi wedding and their subsequent honeymoon will be featured in an upcoming episode of The Hills. Could this be the shot of new drama that a 5th season of The Hills is in desperate need of to hang onto viewership?

Spencer Pratt is laughing at reports that his recent wedding to Heidi Montag was fake. “We had a beautiful ceremony here at One & Only Palmilla officiated by a minister and photographed by the hotel photographer,” he says in a statement to Usmagazine.com and The Associated Press. “We’ve never been happier.” Pratt and Montag are still in Mexico. Mexico will marry American citizens and perform elopements. Other couples — including Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and Jewel and Ty Murray, who recently wed abroad — can legalize their unions before, or in the case of elopements, after a foreign ceremony in the United States. Adds Pratt, “Like other elopements that happen outside the country, we’ll take care of the legal details when we get home.”

This from MTV: After all the moving in and the fallings out, the first proposal and the post-engagement lull, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag eloped last Thursday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Now that they’ve made it official, what will their marriage mean for the show that has chronicled their relationship over the past four seasons? Will the next season of “The Hills” feature footage captured during Speidi’s wedding ceremony? What have Heidi and Spencer been up to since they tied the knot? To find out, we reached out to executive producer Liz Gateley. While she couldn’t tell us everything, she did say that the couple’s married life will figure prominently on the series’ upcoming fifth season, and that cameras are still down in Mexico, documenting the couple’s honeymoon. There’s still no word on when new episodes of “The Hills” will be ready for air, however. “MTV is currently filming Heidi and Spencer in Mexico, as we were expecting to capture them on vacation,” Gateley told MTV News. “Fans will be able to see the exclusive footage from the ceremony in an upcoming episode, and we will continue to follow the newlyweds’ relationship as it plays out in real life.”

It’s unclear just how much of the actual wedding ceremony will be featured on The Hills … I understand that the wedding was a complete surprise to everyone. Either MTV was in on the secret (totally plausible) or Speidi will have to re-enact portions of their wedding ceremony so that it can be filmed by/for MTV (equally plausible) — after all, many of things we see on The Hills are scenes that have been re-enacted or re-shot for airing on TV. Incidentally, why the hell does the Associated Press care about the Speidi wedding … anyone? Anyone?

You know … it’s funny … just as I was complaining that The Hills has started losing its appeal for me (in that I have been considering taking a pass on the upcoming 5th season) they have to go and pull this number. I gotta admit, I kinda have to watch all of this drama unfold on TV … I like, so hafta … right?

The Beckham-TomKat Bunch Take Manhattan By Storm

One big happy family
Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Thanksgiving is a time to be with family but it is also a time to be with friends as well … here are a bunch of pics of very famous friends Les Beckhams (David, Victoria, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz) and TomKat (Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri Holmes-Cruise) hanging out together ALL OVER NYC yesterday after the Beckham clan flew cross country to spend Thanksgiving in the Big Apple. From hanging out at the TomKat NYC home to catching a performance of Katie’s play All My Sons on Broadway to a big ol’ family dinner at Il Cantinori, the Beckham-TomKat Bunch really took over NYC yesterday:

The Cruises were among the first to welcome the Beckham clan to America, but for more than five months the two families have not been photographed together. But any rift between Hollywood’s biggest celebrity families appears to be healed as the couples celebrated Thanksgiving eve. David and Victoria Beckham and their three sons were pictured with Tom Cruise and his older children Connor and Isabella. Tom’s wife Katie Holmes and their two-year-old daughter Suri were absent from the gathering. But after meeting Tom in downtown New York the Beckhams left their sons with a babysitter while they went to watch Katie in her hit Broadway play All My Sons … Later, the whole clan – Katie included – headed off for dinner at Il Cantinori. Thanksgiving is one of the biggest holidays in the American calendar, traditionally marked by a family celebration, so to be spending it together perhaps marks a resurgence of the close friendship the Beckhams once enjoyed with the Cruises. After initially being pictured constantly together – be it shopping, eating out or publicly supporting each other’s work – the relationship between the two families apparently soured. This was rumoured to be because the Beckhams had refused to consider joining the Scientology religion – a subject close to Tom’s heart. There were also reports Katie and Victoria were caught up in a feud over a Vogue front cover. The fashionable friends apparently fell out after the former Dawson’s Creek actress became jealous after Posh was asked to appear on the front cover of the top magazine.

To be honest, I never really bought the whole idea that the Beckhams and Cruise-Holmeses were feuding. These people are hella bizzy all the time and I suspect it’s very difficult for them to all coordinate their schedules in order to hang out together. As much as I like to give them grief sometimes, I really do love seeing these two families when they are hanging out together. I suspect it’s difficult for the rich and powerful to make “normal” friends so it makes sense that they were gravitate towards other rich and powerful folks. I can’t even imagine what sorts of mindless banter they have to talk about across the dinner table … what do YOU suppose these ridiculously wealthy/famous people will talk about and give thanks for at the Thanksgiving dinner table today?

Celebs On A ‘Mission’ This Thanksgiving

Giving back to those in need
Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all! I hope that all y’all are able to spend some time today with loved ones on this happy occasion or, at the very least, are able to enjoy a relaxing and lazy day whatever you choose to do today — wherever in the world. I am in Connecticut for a few days to spend time with David’s family … so posting today will be light.

Here are a few pics of some of the celebs who made their way out to the Crossroads of Hope Mission in Los Angeles, CA yesterday to generously donate of their time in order to help serve food to those in need. This annual event usually takes place outside but because of the massive rain that pummeled LA yesterday (in buckets, I saw it) the event had to be moved indoors:

Thousands of less-fortunate people had a happy Thanksgiving a day early as celebrities and elected officials made their annual trek to Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles to help distribute holiday meals. Acting legend Kirk Douglas and his wife, Anne, again hosted the annual holiday meal at the Los Angeles Mission. An estimated 2,500 to 3,000 people c2owded into the Mission, which was moved inside because of the rain. “We’re going to be tight,” said Al Rossi, one of the mission’s directors. As celebrities filed into the Mission’s dining room, dozens of photographers crowded around, lighting the room up with a strobe of camera flashes fit for a red carpet. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa spooned mixed vegetables onto plates while super model Cindy Crawford scooped mashed potatoes on his left and Kirk Douglas handled other traditional Thanksgiving fixings on his right. Several younger celebrities showed up, including “High School Musical” star Corbin Bleu, who has volunteered at the Mission before. “I’m a very blessed man, and at this time right now it’s just important to be able to give back what God has given to me,” Bleu said. Actors Wilmer Valderrama, Neal McDonough, Nora Zehetner, Joe Campana and model-turned-actress Natasha Alam carried plates out to the event’s attendees. “It’s taking actors back to their roots,” Campana said. “It takes you back to your waiter days.” In addition to the free meal, homeless attendees received free foot exams and health checks.

As always, I am so impressed that these celebs made the effort to give so selflessly of their time in order to help those who are less fortunate. Some of the celebs who came out this year came out last year and the year before that. It’s a very cool thing to see that some celebs are aware of how fortunate they are and they seem willing to give back year after year. These volunteers really show what the Thanksgiving spirit is all about. It’s a great sight to see!
