Celebs Open Their ‘Hearts’ For UNICEF

Helping Gucci raise money for children affected by HIV/AIDS in Malawi
Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Various celebs made their way to The Plaza in NYC last night to attend an event to celebrate the Gucci launch of their new Tattoo Heart Collection — which is a limited edition collection of accessories that will benefit UNICEF’s campaign to aid children affected by HIV/AIDS in Malawi. Here are a few pics from the event’s red carpet arrivals last night:

SMOKING-HOT songbird Rihanna teamed up with Gucci’s Frida Giannini last night at the brand’s Fifth Avenue store for the worldwide launch of the limited-edition Tattoo Heart Collection to benefit UNICEF. Twenty-five percent of sales from the handbags, shoes and accessories ($410-4,995) will benefit children affected by HIV/AIDS in Malawi and Mozambique. Items will be on sale through Jan. 31.

Madonna was in the hiz last night for the Gucci event (despite the fact that she just signed on to be the new face of Louis Vuitton for ‘09) lookin’ pretty good … except for pretty much everything she was wearing. I mean, I love me some Madonna, but I think she’s wearing that Hawaiian grass skirt wrong. Rihanna, who is featured in the Gucci ads to promote the Tattoo Heart Collection, was lookin’ pretty fierce in her pretty dress. Blake Lively and Penn Badgley looked like they just showed up for the free eats. After the jump, check out three of Rihanna’s Tattoo Hearts Collection promo pics …

Pete Wentz Talks Genitals To ‘Elle’ Magazine

Baby Simpson-Wentz still ain't here yet
Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Father-to-be (who isn’t a father just yet) Pete Wentz is featured in the new issue of Elle magazine where he talks very candidly about his sexual development (or lack thereof) … he also talks a bit about those infamous cameraphone P33N pics of his that made their way to the Internets a couple of years ago. Here is a new pic of Pete from this new issue of Elle along with a portion of his interview with the mag:

There were some smooshed little girl hearts littering the landscape last May when Pete Wentz, the bassist-songwriter for Chicago’s punky pop quartet Fall Out Boy, married Ashlee Simpson and soon after announced she was carrying a miniature headbanger due to drop any day now. The compact 29-year-old Wentz, with that trademark heavy eyeliner that made him look a little like Ranger Rick’s emo son, was off the market, and only one woman would be able to touch that bartskull tattoo on his pelvis … There would always be sweet memories of unwisely doffed jeans, cameraphone photos, and playful onstage boy-on-boy kisses, likely to disappear now that former preacher Joe Simpson is Wentz’s father-in-law. But no girl pop singer can stand between a swooning fan and her music—a good thing, since Fall Out Boy has just released its latest record, Folie à Deux.

ELLE: Do you remember your first sexual yearnings?
PETE WENTZ: They were for Cheetara, the girl from ThunderCats. She was really fast and had this baton that would extend.
ELLE: Are ThunderCats actually cats? Were your first sexual feelings for an animal?
PW: No, they’re aliens from the planet Thundera that land on a planet called Third Earth. I could get so nerdy on you.
ELLE: Did you have any odd misconceptions about sexuality as a youngster?
PW: I wasn’t sure where the girl’s genitalia sat compared to males. I wish I’d had GPS in high school because I had no clue where I was going.
ELLE: You did realize it was located in the groin area, right?
PW: Yeah, but I guess on a man it feels like it’s closer to the belly button. On a girl, it’s farther down. I’ll be honest: I was a superlate bloomer, and I was kind of a prude. I always wanted to be able to keep the number of people I’ve had sex with very low, because I never wanted to have to tell my future wife, “Oh, yeah, I was with 30 people.”
ELLE: You’re saying you wanted to keep your number under 30?
PW: Absolutely. I’m a bit of a tease. I’d make out with a lot of people but not go beyond that. Girls who actually don’t get you who were sure they could get you appreciate you on a different level. The ones who you don’t do it with keep calling you back.
ELLE: If you could have a do-over with any event in your life that involved a woman, what would it be?
PW: I wish I had never taken naked pictures of myself on a phone to send to a girl. It’s the worst thing ever.
ELLE: Well, admittedly, like millions of others, I’ve seen these photos. But if a picture of your penis is going to get leaked online, you could do much worse than yours.
PW: Oh, thank you. I appreciate that. But at the time, I wanted to find a cave and hang out there for the rest of my life and be a cave painter and eat dirt.
ELLE: I don’t want you to think I lingered on the photo, but I did notice that you looked groomed down there.
PW: The manscaping? Honestly, I felt slightly overgrown in those pictures. If I had taken them for public consumption, I would have done it differently—groomed a little closer, better lighting.
ELLE: So-called guyliner: What are the most common mistakes associated with it?
PW: Wearing it to the point where people only recognize you as “that guy who wears eyeliner.” I don’t really wear it anymore because of that.

LOL … Pete is awesome. I’m glad that he is finally able to talk about those P33N pics and offer a bit of jest. I understand the poor guy was really pretty destroyed when those photos leaked to the web … and I have to agree with the Elle interviewer, as far as P33N pics go — his aren’t too shabby ;)

Oh and about that baby that his wife Ashlee Simpson is supposed to be birthin’ … yeah, it ain’t here yet … so, to pass the time, Pete made his way out to a Borders bookstore in SoCal yesterday to pick up a few things to help him pass the time:

LOL … so while Ashlee was back at the hospital (or wherever she is these days) jumpin’ around to get her baby to come out of her, Pete’s been bizzy shopping for books/DVDs/CDs. Love it. Hopefully we’ll be hearing of the baby’s birth soon … all this waiting is driving me crazy.

‘Sherlock Holmes’ Filming Moves To Liverpool, UK

Checking in with RJD and the Jude'stache
Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Filming on the new Guy Ritchie-directed big screen adaptation of Sherlock Holmes has moved to Liverpool this week as new scenes were shot yesterday. Here are new pics of Robert Downey, Jr. (as Sherlock Holmes) and Jude Law (as Watson) doing their thing on set this week:

Altho these photos aren’t quite as exhilarating as the pics we saw last month of RDJ leaping from tall buildings in a single bound, it’s always nice to see the man in action. It is also very nice to see the Jude’stache in action as well. No word on how much longer the movie will be filmed in the UK but I suspect they’ve still got a bit of work left to get done before they can call it a wrap. The guys are lookin’ good tho … of all the celebs rockin’ the porn’stache these days, I think Jude is my fave.

Rihanna & Chris Brown Get New Matching Tattoos

And she's talkin' about it
Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Rihanna and Chris Brown have been spotted sportin’ some matching new ink on their hands recently and it was speculated that the tats, while identical, were only temporary. Well, according to Ri Ri herself, the tattoos are permanent tribal designs that ChRihanna got done in New Zealand and represent strength and love … interesting, no?

Got ink? Rihanna certainly does. The singer showed off a new tattoo on her right wrist Wednesday, as she chatted with reporters at a UNICEF event. “It’s tribal,” she said at the charity’s annual Snowflake Lighting Ceremony in New York’s Grand Army Plaza. “It represents strength and love.” Rihanna also revealed that she got the exotic-looking tat while in New Zealand for a recent tour date. “It’s their traditional way of tattooing,” she said of the Maori-inspired geometric design. “I always wanted [one].” But even for a tattoo enthusiast like Rihanna, this particular method had one big drawback: “It hurt like hell!” The “Disturbia” singer has a number of other tats – including a cluster of stars on her neck. (Boyfriend Chris Brown has a matching set.)

Yes, boyfriend Chris Brown does have a matching set of star tattoos … and now ChRihanna also have matching tribal tattoos as well. Some people just give each other promise rings, these two seem happy to make their commitment to one another more permanent. I really hope these two do stay together forever cuz getting matching tattoos seems a pretty big step. How long ’til they tattoo their names on one another?

‘24: Redemption’ Premieres

The stars of the '24' season 7 prequel walk the red carpet
Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Kiefer Sutherland, Robert Carlyle, Gil Bellows and Cherry Jones were among the celebs who came out to AMC Theatres – Empire 25 in NYC last night for the world premiere of 24: Redemption, the 2-hour TV movie prequel that will bridge the gap from season 6 to season 7. You may recall that earlier this month, Kiefer and some of these same celebs made an appearance at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA at a photography exhibit to promote the TV movie and last night they did a bit more promo work in NYC … clearly, these folks want you to watch this movie when it debuts on FOX this Sunday November 23 at 8PM ;) Here are a few pics from the red carpet last night:

From the press release: The wait is finally over! The highly anticipated two-hour television event takes place in Africa (shot on location) where Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is working at a school in Africa. He is called upon to stop a ruthless warlord from drafting innocent children into his murderous militia. At home, it’s inauguration day for President-elect Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) while malevolent mastermind Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight) fans the flames of the international crisis. Setting the stage and raising the stakes for the upcoming season, Bauer faces decisions and sacrifices that will change his life forever in the heart-pounding 24: REDEMPTION.

Trust me, you do not want to miss this TV movie. I was very lucky to be able to preview 24: Redemption in full last month and, as a diehard 24 fan, I loved it. The movie is a bit of a depature from the usual 24 fare but it really does set up the next season very nicely. Having seen the TV movie already, I’m even more excited for the next season to get underway … I suspect that y’all will feel the same after you watch the prequel movie when it airs this coming Sunday night. Jack Bauer is back, bitches! Finally!!!

Paris Hilton, Benji Madden Each Flying Solo

Dunzo for shizzle
Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Yesterday we first learned from a couple of sources that the fairytale romance betwixt Paris Hilton and Benji Madden was over and today People (as well as US Weekly) magazine is also reporting the same news. Altho neither rep for Paris or Benji offered official comment, People is citing a “source close to Hilton” with their report that the couple have truly called it quits. Here are a few pics of both Benji (at Bardot nightclub) and Paris (at Crown Bar) out and about in SoCal last night … alone:

Paris Hilton and Benji Madden’s romance is over. The pair split a few days ago after more than nine months of dating, a source close to Hilton tells PEOPLE. “She is saddened by the breakup but they’re just too different and they wanted different things in life,” says a source close to Hilton. “He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break.” Reps for both Hilton and Madden could not be reached for comment. On Nov. 15, Paris was photographed getting cozy with ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos at nightspot Mokai in Miami. The Hilton friend says the two were simply engaged in a close but friendly conversation. “In no way are they romantic, nor do they want to get back together,” the source says. And on Tuesday night, Hilton and Madden partied separately in L.A. – Hilton danced on top of a couch at Apple Lounge, while Madden was spotted at hotspot Coco de Ville with Nicole Richie, who dates his twin brother Joel Madden.

Honestly, I never really saw these two together … when I first heard the news that they were dating, I immediately discounted the report as rumor and conjecture. When it became obvs that the couple were actually dating, well, I didn’t really have much to say about it. The couple did stay together longer than I thought that they would but I had a feeling they wouldn’t be able to make it last (it is a bit curious that the couple started dating right before her MTV show started filming and are breaking up right as it is about to end). Benji is an amazing guy … seriously, one of the downest people I’ve ever had the fortune to know. I hope that he will be able to find true love for reals … and I have *no doubt* that Paris will be able to find a new love interest without any difficulty. Do y’all think this is a good thing?

Britney Spears Talks To ‘OK!’ Magazine

More openness from our very own 'Pop Princess, now, Queen of Pop'
Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Britney Spears is featured in the new issue of OK! magazine in a new interview where she opens up about a various range of topics from her childhood, to her feelings on being a role model to … soccer and David Beckham. Here is a scan from this issue of OK! (courtesy of BreatheHeavy.com) and a partial transcription of the interview:

You landed your big break on The Mickey Mouse Club aged 11. Have you ever felt that you lost your childhood?

I only did the show for two years, and for six months out of each year I was at home all the time. I had a wonderful childhood I was probably in my tenth year of school when I left to record my album – so I did the whole prom thing and played on the basketball team. There are some kids in show business who are always in New York and constantly going to audition, but I was fortunate it wasn’t like that for me.

When did you decide that you wanted to be a performer?

It was when I was on the Mickey Mouse Club that I realized I had a major love of music. We were involved in concerts and were in the recording studio, and I was like: “I want to go for this!” When the show was canceled, it was sad, I just wanted to get back out there again. That’s when I went to Jive records and they signed me.

You once said it’s scary to be a role model. Why is that?

Because I make mistakes. If I do something wrong, I don’t want teenagers to feel like they should go out and do that as well. If you’re a role model, that’s what happens.

You mean it’s a lot of responsibility?

Yes, I don’t like that. I’m just human.

Do you feel as though the public doesn’t get to see the real Britney?

Everyone reckons I’m naïve. When I’m on stage, they definitely see the real me. When I’m not performing, they just have me down as some girl with blonde hair. Someone once asked me, “Do you think that because you’re blonde, you have more fun?” I was like “No, not at all!” Its just this is how I look and what works on top of what I do’ You should be happy for a person, not just assume they are a certain way.

In trying to be successful, can you be over-ambitious?

Yes. I think I have that problem. I honestly do. I’m such a perfectionist sometimes. It has its good points, but then it has its bad points because you’re never satisfied. I don’t think you should ever be completely satisfied as then you’re putting a limit on yourself. You should be happy with the person you are on the inside, but on the outside you should always be trying to strive for more.

And does that make you happy?

You end up driving yourself crazy because you’re never pleased with the finished project. You’re always like ‘Well if I’d done it like this, then it probably would’ve been a lot better’.

If you have to choose between career or family, what would come first?

I would choose both. Why not? But, of course, If it really came down to it, family!

What about getting older? Is it possible to age within pop business?

Yes, definitely. Madonna is proof of that.

Soccer is getting bigger and bigger in America. Who is your favorite player, and are you any good at the sport?

David Beckham – he’s a cutie. I am not a very good soccer player, so I have to get someone to help me. Maybe he can …

Do you like being challenged and trying new things?

Oh Definitely!! That’s why every award show I attend, I do a different performance. I always change it up a lot, and it’s good for the fans too as they got to see me more. I’m always trying to set myself new goals. You have to do that to be on top.

How do you hope to be remembered?

That I was just able to put a smile on people’s faces. That saw me in a movie and they left the movie theater feeling good, or they saw me dancing and it inspired them.

She sounds great … it’s really amazing having her back to this cognizant point again. I am really loving all this new stuff we’re getting from her directly. It’s a relief hearing her speak for herself again. BritneySpears.com has offered up a few screencaps from her new MTV documentary Britney Spears: For The Record as well as a new video clip where Britney talks, in her own words, about her upcoming new album Circus. After the jump, check out the screencaps from both …
