‘Lipstick Jungle’ Has NOT Be Canceled

Contrary to previous reports
Monday, November 17th, 2008

Good news for fans of Lipstick Jungle … it turns out that reports of the show’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. Brooke Shields spoke to reporters yesterday and refuted claims that Jungle has been canceled. You may recall that last Thursday the Hollywood Reporter (among other outlets) reported that NBC dropped the ax on both Lipstick Jungle and My Own Worst Enemy … according to Brooke, those reports erroneously lumped Jungle into Enemy’s cancellation:

Despite reports, Brooke Shields says her NBC drama Lipstick Jungle hasn’t been scrapped. “They thought that because My Own Worst Enemy has been shut down that the same thing had happened to us, and it’s not true,” she told reporters at Sunday’s Kidsfest in NYC. “They’re not breaking down the sets,” she added. “We’re still working. We still have more to do, so it’s erroneously presented that we’ve been canceled, thank God. “Our bosses are saying, ‘You’re not canceled, don’t worry. We’re just trying to figure out how to make this make sense.’” Shields said fans have already sent in tubes of lipstick to Jeff Zucker, president & CEO of NBC Universal, to show their support. “It’s been insane,” she went on. “I think that the public outcry has been crazy, and it’s kind of wonderful.” Is she optimistic for the show? “I actually am,” Shields said. “I mean, we’re basically No. 1 if you look at DVR. And you look at all that. So the public is watching it. “The problem that they have is it’s not the same day live,” she continued. “They just need to figure out how to reconcile advertisers’ money because the advertisers don’t want you fast forwarding commercials. If the show gets canned, she said she’ll be heartbroken. “The family atmosphere and the excitement of being all together and working — that’s the perk,” she said. “I think they would be remiss if they decided not to continue next season.” Co-star Kim Raver (who also denied that the show’s been canceled) said she would take the cancellation “really hard. “The main thing is that me and Brooke and Lindsay [Price] have such a great time, not to sound corny,” she said. She added, “I think on Monday there are emergency meetings as to what’s going to go on. But I know the executives are really pushing it and believe in it.”

Yay! It looks like it’s time to pull the spork out of the Lipstick corpse and nurse the show back to health. Let this be a lesson to Jungle fans, y’all gotta tune in so that the ratings will go back up and NBC won’t be able to cancel the show. I, too, need to start tuning in … LJ sounds like an amazing show … here’s hoping it will enjoy a long life ahead.

The Victoria’s Secret Angels Invade Miami Beach

Feast your eyes
Monday, November 17th, 2008

Here are a few hawt photos of the Victoria’s Secret Angels (Adriana Lima, Karolina Kurkova, Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr, Selita Ebanks and Alessandra Ambrosio) as they strutted their stuff on the runway at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, FL on Saturday night. Contrary to what you may think by looking at these photos, the ladies were modeling articles of clothing … behold:

Alls I gots ta say is that VS really does know how to sell underwear … and how. Even I can fully appreciate the hot sexiness of a fashion show like this. From what I understand, the audience was comprised of a who’s who of celebs but the real stars of the night were the Angels. All hail.

Kristen Stewart’s ‘Twilight’ Promo Tour

There and back again
Monday, November 17th, 2008

Last week I posted a few photos of Twilight stars Taylor Laughter (Jacob) and Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria) at an in-store appearance at a Hot Topic store in Seattle, WA and today we get to see a few pics of Twilight protagonist Kristen Stewart (Bella) at one of her only two in-store appearances at a Hot Topic store at Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, Virginia (she also appeared at a Hot Topic at Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ). It would appear that K. Stew wasn’t all that excited about meeting and greeting the throngs of rabid Twilight fans who queued up to meet her:

In her defense, they have been runnin’ the poor girl ragged over the last couple of weeks. Just this weekend, she met up with some of her co-stars in Toronto, CA to make an appearance on Much Music there.

But, thankfully for Kristen, she has been allowed to return to her home in SoCal for a hot minute … here are pics of her grand arrival back home yesterday:

But, no rest for the weary, I’m afraid. The Hollywood premiere of Twilight is this week and with the movie opening in theaters on Friday, I’m sure she still has much promoting left to do.

Don’t forget to get your entries submitted for the Twilight Prize Pack contest I’m runnin’. Click HERE for deets on how to enter … you’ve got one week left to participate :)

Guess Who’s Bringin’ SexyBack Now

Back for good
Monday, November 17th, 2008

Here’s a fun game to play on this bright and shining morn … can YOU guess which hottie actor, who hails from the US neighbor to the North, was snapped roaming the streets of LA last week while sportin’ a thrashed t-shirt with a huge gaping hole in the back?

Rumor has it that this actor, recently reunited with his beloved ex-girlfriend, is single once again due to another break-up with said former (and again current) ex-girlfriend. After the jump, find out who it is …

The Beckham Boys Cheer On The LA Lakers

As well as the LA Laker Girls?
Monday, November 17th, 2008

David Beckham and his sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz made their way out to the Staples Center in downtown LA this weekend to take in a LA Lakers basketball game. Here are a few really cute pics of Becks and his boys sitting courtside at the game … it looks like little Cruz (who is prolly Vicki B’s fave kid, for obvs reasons) had to call out his papa for spending too much time checkin’ out the cheerleaders (which we know, Becks is wont to do at Lakers home games):

OOOH, you just know that cute little snitch is gonna tell on Becks’s ass. But seriously, how adorable are these pics of David Beckham and his sons. They each seem to have an aspect of Becks’s personality — Brooklyn has his fashion sense, Romeo has his affinity for hair coiffing and Cruz is just cute like him. I love it when the Beckham men hang out together.

Britney Spears Has A Secret

And she wants YOU to be the first to know
Monday, November 17th, 2008

Britney Spears has launched a new widget today where fans can sign up to be the first to know … a secret:

Now, I have *no idea* what the secret could be but in about 2 weeks, we’ll be finding out so I suggest all y’all Britney fans sign up to be alerted when our dear Britney does make her announcement.

Yesterday was a pretty exciting day for overzealous Britney Spears fans … her new album, Circus, which isn’t due for release until December 2 leaked it’s way onto the Internets yesterday afternoon/evening (you may recall that some images from the CD booklet also leaked this weekend). Apparently, someone got a hold of a promo copy of the album and started to distribute the songs one at a time thruout the evening:

Unfortunately, I cannot divulge where these tracks were leaked to but I’ve been getting lots of emails from Pink readers who have the tracks so the songs are out there. I think it’s important to remind y’all that we all still have to buy the album when it comes out on December 2. This album may be some of Brit’s best work ever and she needs to be rewarded with our money ;) As far as I can tell, every single track from the album — including the bonus songs Rock Me In, Phonography and Amnesia — have been leaked. The only songs that have not been leaked (to my knowledge) are Trouble (the US iTunes exclusive bonus track) and Quicksand (the UK iTunes exclusive bonus track). But, again, I urge y’all to save your pennies for December 2 so that we can all buy the album and make Circus debut in the #1 spot on the Billboard album chart. OH — and don’t forget to sign up for the Britney Secret announcement … I know I’m dying to know what it could be.

Peace The Spork Out, ‘Total Request Live’

MTV bids adieu to its most successful countdown show
Monday, November 17th, 2008

MTV aired its final episode of its world-famous countdown show Total Request Live last night, very appropriately enough, live from its Times Square studio in NYC. Musicians of many genres (but with a distinct affinity for the pop music market) made appearances or performed on the live program last night as original TRL host Carson Daly (and his subsequent subordinate VJs) counted down the Top 10 TRL Music Video of All Time one last time …

… bestowing the honor of Top TRL Music Video of All Time to Britney Spears’s debut video Baby … One More Time. Here are a few pics of some of the pop stars who made their way into the MTV Studios in Times Square for the TRL Finale event and a run-down of the show overall:

It was like old times in MTV’s Times Square studio. There were superstars everywhere you looked, frantic stagehands darting about, and down below — packed against police barricades — screaming kids … lots of screaming kids. On Sunday night (November 16), after 10 years and more than 2,500 episodes, MTV’s legendary “TRL” bid adieu to the airwaves with “Total Finale Live,” a positively packed three-hour party that was as much about celebrating memories from the past as it was creating ones for the future. It was a livewire, unpredictable and — fittingly — star-studded send-off for a show that prided itself in being all those things. It was a night full of big-time performances, big-name guest stars and nostalgic trips down memory lane. It was the kind of proper, celebratory goodbye that most of MTV’s biggest programs (be it “Jackass” or “Beavis and Butt-head” or even “The Osbournes”) don’t actually get, which sort of makes sense, considering that “TRL” launched the careers of today’s biggest stars, reimagined the concept of live television and, whether you realize it or not, probably defined a generation. A who’s who of “TRL” alumni rocked stages both inside and out of the studio, starting with Beyoncé, who, backed by a cracking live band, poured her heart and soul into “If I Were a Boy” and then flipped the switch and tore through muscled up versions of “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “Crazy in Love.” Fall Out Boy (sans bassist Pete Wentz, who was with his wife Ashlee Simpson as she reportedly went into labor) followed her, braving the chilly New York night to shred on a flatbed truck parked in the heart of Times Square. Wentz even got some new-dad advice from Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden on the show. Later in the night, a trio of hip-hop heavyweights — Ludacris, Nelly and Snoop Dogg — performed their greatest “TRL” hits, then joined forces on the Doggfather’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” Former “TRL” mainstays the Backstreet Boys took a nostalgic run at “I Want It That Way,” and 50 Cent — who, in true Fiddy fashion, kept show producers waiting until the very last minute — pounded his way through “In Da Club” and his current hit, “Get Up.” (Backstage, he had some choice words for Kanye West and Donald Trump.) And though they didn’t perform, tons of other stars stopped by to pay their respects. Justin Timberlake chuckled as clips of his frosted-tipped ‘NSYNC past played on flat-screen TVs in the studio. Taylor Swift clutched a “TRL” yearbook that she got signed by everyone in attendance. Diddy — who appeared on the show more than anyone else — did a bit of hosting, a bit of joking and (of course) a bit of plugging for his new fragrance, I Am King, and the upcoming Notorious B.I.G. biopic “Notorious.” And, in a move that could only happen on live television, Kid Rock wandered around with a stogie and a glass of beer, then greeted a female admirer in the audience with: “Hi, baby, you’re much too young for me.” There were phoned-in congrats from Eminem and Christina Aguilera. Miley Cyrus geeking out in the “TRL” photo booth. More former VJs than you could shake a stick at. And plenty of video packages that recounted the most memorable moments from the show’s 10-year history — everything from Mariah Carey’s wacko striptease to Rudy Guiliani’s appearance on the show’s first broadcast post-9/11 — and goofy glimpses at your favorite stars’ first appearances on the show (a barely legal Xtina, a super-slim Slim Shady, a giggly Britney Spears, to name just a few). There were on-air bleeps and teary pre-teens and even a few “Oh wait, what?!?” moments — you know, the stuff “TRL” was known for. And, appropriately, there was also one last video countdown. Hosts Carson Daly and Damien Fahey guided viewers (and the screaming fans inside the studio) through the 10 most iconic clips in “TRL” history — everything from Outkast’s “Hey Ya!” and ‘NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” to Kid Rock’s “Bawitdaba” — a list topped with Britney Spears’ ” … Baby One More Time” (sadly, Brit Brit was not on hand to accept the accolades). The fact that all of this played out before a packed (and really squealy) studio audience — and on a massive screen outside in Times Square — only seemed right.

Sarah and I watched the TRL Finale event together last night (snug underneath some warm blankets cuz it’s cold as shizz here in Detroit, y’all) and we reminisced about how we hung out in front of a taping of TRL together on our first trip to NYC in the Spring of 2001. We even got a few seconds of screentime when the cameras zoomed in on us in the crowd. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to be inside for tapings of TRL on a few occasions, once with David early in our fledgling relationship (it was the ep where Nelly Furtado debuted her new single Promiscuous, changing her career forever). BUT, I have an all-time fave TRL moment of my own … which is, of course, being able to meet, chat with and take a photo with Madonna (incidentally, the time I met her backstage at TRL in the Fall of 2005 was the last time she was ever on TRL). Even tho I stopped watching the show ages ago (as, I suspect, have many other folks — which is why the show is being retired), it will always hold a special place in my heart. It was a very fun show and I’m going to miss it very much. I have to send out some personal LURVE to Tim Healy, the director of TRL for always being so kind and accommodating to me. It is because of him that I have been able to enjoy some of the coolest TRL moments that I’ve ever had.

After the jump, for old time’s sake, check out the Top TRL Music Video of All Time one more time so that we can say au revior to TRL in style …
