52-year old La Toya Jackson was snapped doing a bit of shopping on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, CA this week lookin’ pretty damn good for a woman of her age. I distinctly recall that there was a time when Toy was THE black sheep of the Jackson family, right around the time that Michael Jackson was comfortably resting on his laurels and Janet Jackson was at the height of her fame. Now, Michael is a sad (scary) shadow of his former self and Janet, well, is no longer at the height of her fame … and La Toya is lookin’ pretty damn fierce, if I do say so myself:

Now, I have no idea what La Toya is doing these days so that she can afford to shop on Rodeo Drive (actually, I don’t see any bags so mebbe she was window shopping?) but it’s so nice to see an uncrazy Jackson for a change. I had hope that Michael‘s children might grow up to redeem the family name but that is looking less and less likely. I never would’ve dreamed that the hope for the family’s sanity would rest on the shoulders of La Toya Jackson but … it looks like it’s turned out that way. You go, Toy Toy!

OH man … trainwreck Amy Winehouse is at it again. After taking a few months off from all the crazy, Amy has recently reemerged to resume her wacky ways … right in time with her husband Blake Fielder-Civil‘s release from jail to rehab. Bright and early yesterday morning, Amy came out of her London home with gifts of cheese on toast and bottled drinks for the assembled paparazzi outside her door in order to trade them for use of a cell phone. Why an artist who is capable of making millions of dollars on her singing talents does not have a phone of her own is beyond me but there you have it. After the photogs allowed her to use their phone to call a friend, Amy allowed them to photograph her at will, showing off a rash that she developed on her arms after being released from the hospital (you will note she is still wearing her plastic hospital bracelet). Oh and she brought the paps flowers as well:

Seriously, the girl is tragic. Her husband, on the other hand, appears to be taking his sobriety seriously … after all, he has commit himself to a rehab program in order to get out of jail early (he was sentenced to almost a year in jail for attempting to pervert justice in the UK). It looks like rehab was a good choice for him because clearly he is not being confined to his rehab facility … apparently, he is allowed to walk free and clear as if he weren’t in custody at all. Let this be a lesson to all y’all … if you ever get locked up in jail and you are offered the chance to serve out your sentence in rehab, you should do it. Doesn’t it look like fun? In any event, Blake is basically free and so is Amy …

Brad Pitt was on hand for a premiere screening of his new movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at the Bruin Theater in Westwood, CA last night. Arriving a half-hour before the event was to start, Brad caused a bit of a stir amongst the assembled paps who were there to photograph his every move … when they started to crowd around to photograph him, Brad‘s hired security detail sprung into action. BUT, the overeager security guard did NOT push back the photogs … instead, he pounced on Brad Pitt himself and roughed him up a bit:

In a bizarre incident at Monday night’s Los Angeles premiere of his movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Brad Pitt was grabbed, pushed and spun around by a plainclothes security guard who had been hired to protect him. Pitt arrived half an hour early for the screening at the Bruin Theater in Westwood, where paparazzi promptly descended upon him. But instead of shooing the photographers away, the security guard instead went after Pitt, spinning him around and pulling him backwards – all while clutching in his teeth what appeared to be a brochure for a karate studio. A shaken Pitt had words with the guard, broke free and waited out the ruckus in an upstairs bathroom area. No news yet on the security guard’s fate.

HMMM. Mebbe it was the cheap porn’stache that threw off the security guard. I mean, when Brad first showed off his new facial hair, even we goss lovers weren’t entirely sure it was him. In any event, I don’t suspect that this very zealous security guard will be getting much work in the future “protecting” celebrity clients. I think it’s pretty much assured that he will never work for the Brangelina brood in any capacity. Glad to see that Brad managed to survive this scuffle with his own security guard in one piece. I understand that afterward, Brad was happy to smile and wave to the folks who came out to see him at last night’s screening event.

Yesterday morning we woke to the news that Britney Spears‘s youngest son, Jayden James, was rushed to the hospital over the weekend (it was initially reported that the little guy suffered a seizure but it was clarified later in the day that JJ had only suffered an allergic reaction to something that he ate). Today we get to see new photos of Brit Brit taking her little boy home from the hospital last night after he spent the previous night in their care for observation:

Britney Spears’ two-year-old son Jayden is out of hospital and back with his family, according to a post on the singer’s Web site. “A source close to the Spears family has told us that Britney and family have left the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center,” says the update. “Jayden is fine.” Spears was photographed outside the facility Monday evening, cradling her youngest son as they entered a waiting SUV. A source tells PEOPLE the boy was hospitalized overnight after suffering a “terrible allergic reaction” to something he ingested. The health scare came in the midst of a family vacation in Louisiana. It is Spears’ first trip out of California with the boys since she lost custody early this year.

I cannot for the life of me begin to understand what a parent must go thru when one of their children is hurt and needs to be rushed to the hospital. It has to be one of the hardest things a parent has to go thru … no matter the severity of the injury, I imagine it must be terrifying. I’m extremely happy to know that Jayden was able to recovery quickly and that he is doing OK after his scary incident. Here’s hoping that Britney and her family can enjoy a relaxing time together in Kentwood, LA for the duration of her visit.
