Barack Obama’s Grandmother Passes Away At 86

Madelyn Dunham succumbs to cancer one day before Election Day
Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Very sad breaking news to report … the Obama campaign has just confirmed the news that Barack Obama’s maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, passed away at the age of 86 after a long bout with cancer. This news is especially sad considering that Mrs. Dunham was not able to see the outcome of her grandson’s bid to become President of the United States of America, dying on the eve of Election Day in this country:

As of yet, there is no concrete information to pass along at this time … only that Madelyn Dunham has died, losing her battle with cancer. As some of you may know, Obama’s maternal grandparents helped raise him while his mother was living overseas in Indonesia during his youth. I cannot imagine the sadness the Senator and his family must be feeling at this moment. I will update this post with more information as it becomes available but I think it’s safe to assume that all Americans and indeed people around the world, are sending their heartfelt condolences to Senator Obama and his family.

UPDATE: This from the New York Times:

Senator Barack Obama’s grandmother, a central figure in his life who helped raise him during his teen-age years, died in Hawaii on Monday morning. Mr. Obama, who left the presidential campaign trail late last month to travel to Honolulu to bid her farewell, announced the death in a statement released by his spokesman upon landing here this afternoon. Her death comes one day shy of Election Day. “It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer,” Mr. Obama said in a statement. “She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances.” Madelyn Dunham, who turned 86 on Oct. 26, was unable to travel to see her grandson on the campaign trail. But from her apartment in Honolulu, she religiously followed his bid for the presidency, tracking his movements and his progression through cable television. “She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left this world with the knowledge that her impact on all of us was meaningful and enduring,” Mr. Obama said in the statement. “Our debt to her is beyond measure.” Mr. Obama released the statement with his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, who has been at Mrs. Dunham’s side while Mr. Obama has been campaigning for president. “Our family wants to thank all of those who sent flowers, cards, well-wishes, and prayers during this difficult time. It brought our grandmother and us great comfort,” Mr. Obama said in the statement. “Our grandmother was a private woman, and we will respect her wish for a small private ceremony to be held at a later date.”

So very sad. Again, my thoughts and prayers go out to Senator Barack Obama and his family at this very sad time for them. May she rest in eternal peace.

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Here is our first look at the first single and music video from the official soundtrack from the much-anticipated big screen adaption of the book of the same name Twilight. The song is called Decode and is performed by newish kids on the block Paramore:

Folks outside of the US can see this music video HERE. The music video offers a lot of movie scenes are sure to make the rabid Twilight fans happy … I’m not so sure about the song itself but, that’s just my opinion. The song may take a few listens for me to get on board but as far as how the movie looks … well, this video does offer some of the look and feel of how the movie may play out on the big screen. It deffo has the feel of the great Northwest … do y’all think the vid is a good one or can nothing measure up to the amazingness of Twilight overall?

Britney Spears Shows Off Her Halloween Costume

Witch was very cool, BTW
Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Yesterday I posted a couple of pics of a shy Britney Spears making her way out of Drew Barrymore’s Halloween Party this weekend as she hid behind her witch hat while driving away. Many other sites claimed that Britney was wearing a silver wig and that she was at a different Halloween party and, today, Britney took the time to call them out on their error. BritneySpears.com confirms that Brit Brit was dressed as a witch for Halloween and offers a new photo of Britney with her sons Sean Preston & Jayden James, her father Jamie Spears, her friend Courtney, her assistant Brett and her cousin Laura Lynn (along with her nanny) all dressed up in their Halloween costumes:

From BritneySpears.com: Look at these EXCLUSIVE pics Britney sent us of her and the boys from Halloween night. Brit, her friends Courtney and Laura Lynn, her assistant Brett and dad Jamie took the boys out trick or treating before heading home to get ready for Drew Barrymore’s party. Tomorrow I’ll be posting more EXCLUSIVE pics of Britney with the boys, and with the gals getting ready to hit Drew’s party! You’re gonna love these pics!!! … Oh and dear X17 and TMZ… those pics you posted over the weekend of “Britney” as a fairy… Yeh, sorry to disappoint but that’s not Brit.. It’s Courtney. You’d think after all these years of stalking Britney you’d be able to tell the difference.

C’mon, y’all … I knew that Britney was the witch with the black wig … I cannot believe that the “professional” tabloid folks got it so wrong ;) I guess we now know that Britters was playing coy over the weekend so that she could be the one to show off her Halloween costume. Oh and papa Jamie Spears is scary as hell in that clown outfit.

Additionally, the Australian version of Cosmopolitan magazine put our dear Britney on the cover of this month’s new issue. After the jump check it out …

Wii Know How To Have FUN!

The TV Guide
Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Yesterday was a quiet but bizzy day around here. David had an appointment in West Hollywood early in the afternoon so he and Eden went into town to take care of biz while I stayed at home to work. The day kinda got away from us and we weren’t able to reconnect again until dinnertime … but we made our way to Toast for some yum and then passed by Steph & Alek’s place for a quick hello and intro (Eden hadn’t had the fortune to meet the guys). It turns out that S&A went shopping and picked up a Wii video game console along with a Wii Fit — which we all had to take turns playing with (it turns out that David could find work as a tight-rope walker if he ever wanted to look for a new occupation). Unfortch in all the dumb fun, no one thought to snap any pics. We didn’t stay long tho because, for some reason, we were all wiped out. I’m not sure if it was the jet lag or the time change or what but each of us were ready to call it a night fairly early on.

Today is David and Eden’s last day in SoCal before they fly back to NYC tonight in time to vote tomorrow. We’re gonna deffo get out this afternoon to enjoy some of the sunshine before they have to jet.
