Why so serious?
Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Put On Their Game Faces

A few Twilighters seemed miffed at my joking post yesterday about Robert Pattinson and Kirsten Stewart lookin’ gloomy at the Rome International Film Festival this weekend where they were on hand to promote their new movie Twilight. So, to make up for that egregious offense, here are a couple new photos of the pair posing for promotional portraits shot by Elisabetta A. Villa at the St.Regis Grand Hotel on Halloween in Rome, again, to promote their new movie together:

To their credit, they look very serious and preternatural in these photos … which go well with the tone of their love affair in the movie Twilight. Thus far, we’ve only really seen bits of the couple’s chemistry in the meager commercial spots and trailers that have been made available to us. I’m curious to see exactly how the romantic interplay between Bella (Kristen) and Edward (Robert) plays out over the duration of the film. While I generally enjoyed the books overall, there were portions that I felt were far too schmaltzy … will that still be a problem in the movie or will there be a huge dose of realism added to their interactions? Lest anyone think otherwise, I am really intrigued by this new movie … I’m curious to see how the books will come to life. Even if R. Pattz and K. Stew shun any notion of hair brushing, I deffo think they will be able to bring their beloved characters to life.

Calls himself a "running joke", manages to finish the run in under 4 hours
Ryan Reynolds Runs The New York Marathon

Yesterday we saw a few photos of Ryan Reynolds talking to members of the media at a press conference ahead of today’s New York Marathon run … and today we have a couple pics of the man himself in action. Sweat dripping, arms pumping … Ryan sure does make runnin’ look gooood:

I understand that Ryan, who was numbered 14778, managed to complete the 26.2 mile run with a final time of 3:50:22. Sounds like a respectable time to me … and if you also consider that the man looked hawt while running this marathon, well, it sounds like a win-win situation to me. It’s unclear just how much money Ryan managed to raise on behalf of Team Fox (named for Michael J. Fox which seeks to raise funds for Parkinson’s Disease research) but I’m sure he managed to pull in some much needed funds. Well done, Ryan … we all knew you could do it! Woot!

The TV Guide
Night At The Museum

Last night, David, his sister Eden and I made our way to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to see the new exhibit titled Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913–2008:

It was my first visit to the LACMA museum so it was quite a treat for us. David is always interested in doing cultural things so I figured … what the heck. We also made our way into the Broad Contemporary Art Musem to check out the fun exhibits there. I don’t know why but I am in LOVE with Jeff KoonsCracked Egg sculpture on display there. It’s brills! If you live in the SoCal area and haven’t been to the BCAM at LACMA you gotta get there … it’s a fun exhibit. Here are a couple photos of us outside the LACMA building posing in the Urban Light outdoor exhibit and a pic of us with Eden’s friend Amanda who we met up with for dinner afterward:

We met up with Amanda at Stanley’s in Sherman Oaks, CA. To be honest, we were all wiped … we bailed on plans to hang out with anyone afterward and just came home to crash. This afternoon we are going to try and capitalize on the amazing weather outside … we’ll see how long we manage to last ;)

Weekend Hotness
Hot Dude Of The Week: Dave

Wee … time again for us to gaze and gawk at the Hot Dude of the Week. I’ve been on a blonde streak lately so it would make sense that a hawt blonde get chosen as this week’s hot dude … say hello to Dave:

OOOOH, artsy! Generally, we tend to focus on dudes in skimpy undies, flexin’ their muscles with ofttimes serious faces. This week, we’re goin’ for the more artistic B&W vibe with Dave here. It’s a nice pic, I think … Dave‘s got a hot bod which he’s not gratuitously showing off — shirtless masculinity, plain and simple. I’m down. I’m sure it won’t be long until we get another speedo-clad hunk of man meat but, for this week at least, we class it up a bit. Enjoy!

Make it so
Patrick Stewart Gets Honored By Trinity College

Early last month we learned that Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers was awarded the Honorary Patronage award by the Trinity College Philosophical Society and today we learn that English actor Patrick Stewart (who y’all may know expertly played Jean Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation) with The Samuel Beckett Award by the Trinity College Historical Society:

As I understand it, The Samuel Beckett Award is bestowed on folks for their Outstanding Contribution to the Arts and I can think of no more deserving person than Patrick Stewart. Even absent his amazing run as Capt. Picard on ST: TNG, Stewart has given many amazing performances, not the least of which was his portrayal of Macbeth on stage on Broadway earlier this year. I am a huge Patrick Stewart fan and am happy to highlight achievements like this. He rules, y’all!

Er, at least, I think it is
It’s Britney, Witch!

Britney Spears, who has of late been very open and forthcoming with her fans on everything from spending time with her children to rehearsing for her new music video, was curiously shy this Halloween weekend as she made her way out of Drew Barrymore‘s Halloween party. Dressed as a witch (I think), Britney hid behind her conical hat as she departed from the Halloween fête:

You can see that Brit Brit was rockin’ a witchy black wig while her two friends wore white wigs but it’s evident that she wasn’t really interested in showing off her costume:

Honestly, with all the openness that Britney has been sharing on her official website in recent weeks, I can understand how she might want to lay low every once in a while.

A fighting chance
NBC Gives ‘Kath & Kim’ A Full Season

Good news for fans of the new US version of Kath & Kim … despite getting pulled off the air in Australia after only 2 airings there, Variety reports that NBC has decided to give their version of the Aussie comedy a full season of eps. Kath & Kim are here to stay … at least for the foreseeable future:

NBC’s “Kath & Kim” has become the latest frosh [series] to score a full-season pickup. Peacock announced the back nine order Friday afternoon. Reveille and Universal Media Studios are behind the skein, which stars Molly Shannon and Selma Blair. “Kath & Kim” is based on the Australian laffer of the same name. Peacock has aired four segs so far, averaging a 2.6 rating and 6 share among adults 18-49. Show has also averaged 6 million viewers. “Kath” has retained all of its “My Name is Earl” lead-in in those two measurements, and has built by 4 percent with adults 18-34. In announcing the pickup, NBC Entertainment exec VP Teri Weinberg said the net has “incredible confidence” in the show’s auspices and that NBC believes “it’s a perfect fit with our Thursday night comedies.”

While I admit that I am not totally wowed by the US version of Kath & Kim, I have been tuning in weekly and have been enjoying the show thus far. Again, it’s not as riotously funny as the original but it does provide some good chuckles and manages to keep me coming back for more. This week’s episode was the first ep of the remake to be directly based on one of the original Aussie eps. Based on the original episode Money, this week’s episode was an American re-telling of that ep. I’m not sure if NBC plans to continue basing their eps on old eps but it’s an interesting idea. Additionally, this week’s ep featured an appearance by an actor named Mike Naughton who is a childhood friend of my friend Mark back home in Detroit:

Mike tends to show up randomly in TV shows (like The Office and Friends) and commercials … it is always a treat to see him on TV. It really sounds like NBC has put a lot of faith and money in Kath & Kim and they aren’t ready to throw in the towel just yet. I’ve always said that, with enough time, the show may be able to find its audience. With a full season of eps on the way, that might actually happen. I know I’ll keep watching. Are any of y’all tuning in?

Ouch!
Ken Paves Gets Bashed Bloody

Celebrity hairstylist to the stars and all-around BFF to Jessica Simpson accidentally got his face bashed by an over-eager paparazzo as he tried to lead his BFF Jess thru a scrum of paps as the pair tried to make an exit from Madeo restaurant last night. Leading the way for Jess to get to her waiting car, Ken‘s face made unfortunate contact with a pap’s camera, causing his face to split open and start gushing blood … EEK!

Jessica Simpson watched in shock as her BFF/hair stylist Ken Paves had his face busted open during a crazy paparazzi crush on their way out of Madeo late Saturday night. Ken was escorting Jess out of the restaurant, when the sea of snappers swarmed — and in the madness, one guy hit Ken near his eye with a part of a camera. With blood trickling down his face, Ken still managed to get Jess inside their waiting ride. Their driver then whisked the group to a nearby hospital, where Jess accompanied her friend inside the building.

Aww … poor Ken :( On the one hand, it’s pretty crappy that celebs and their friends can’t make the simple walk from a restaurant to their car without getting injured but, in actuality (and thankfully), this sort of thing doesn’t happen too often. It really looks like it was an accident but cameras should not be that close to people’s faces. I am deffo of the mind that people who seek fame have to take some ownership of the attention they receive but no one should be physically injured in this way under any circumstances.

"My only showbiz connections are Jon Voight and Heidi from 'The Hills'"
‘Quality, Value & Convenience’ From John McCain

John McCain made a very funny appearance on Saturday Night Live last night where he participated in the show’s opening skit and later appeared during the Weekend Update. Spoofing Senator Barack Obama‘s half-hour infomercial which aired on 3 major networks earlier this week, McCain appeared with Tina Fey (as Sarah Palin) on a late-night program airing on QVC, the 24-hour cable shopping network:

LOL! Now this skit was hilarious! I gotta give McCain props for really getting in on the fun. While I thought Sarah Palin’s appearance on SNL a couple of weeks ago was pretty lame, I think John McCain really nailed this guest appearance. I totally died when Cindy McCain made her cameo … seriously, she could get a job on the real QVC should things not go McCain’s way on Tuesday. One of the best lines of the skit, “I’m a true maverick … a Republican without money.” I gotta say, I’m really impressed that he was such a good sport:

Well done! Tina Fey killed as Palin again. I loved it when she “went rogue” — LOL! I am very impressed with this week’s SNL performances :)
