Josh Brolin did pretty well playing Dubya; reminded me a lot of his cowboy character from No Country for Old Men... over all, i don't doubt that 'W.' will have the effect Oliver Stone desired

Trent, Trent, Trent...

As much as I love your blog, sometimes I think you don't do your homework. You're not that young not to know that Ellen Burstyn is hardly "unsung." I'm in my early-30s and know that not only did she receive an Academy Award, she was nominated a total of FOUR times, the last in 2000 for Requiem. She's won a slew of other awards too. She's had her time in her prime, and now she is making great movies in her golden years. I'm sure she'll get the gold again before she retires, but the way you worded the article - you would lead one of your readers (who may not be in the know about Ellen) that she's never won an award. Tsk! Tsk!

I didn't think I wanted to watch it just because it is another hollywood person trying to influence the rest of us with his propoganda but after reading COCO's review I want to see it now. It does sound interesting.

Ooh! I saw this last night at a special premiere. Its REALLY LONG! I thought it was interesting though. It definitely shows a more human side of Bush. I have always been of the opinion that he surrounded himself with corrupt men, while not necessarily being corrupt himself, just under qualified. This definitely portrayed that method of thought. Cheney is portrayed as a complete a$$hole and Carl Rove is a power hungry little pip squeek. So pretty close to my personal opinions of the men. Watch for Thandie Newton's dead on portrayal of Condi Rice. WOW! Considering there aren't a lot of stellar performances this year, I would not be suprised to see some awards recognitions for this film. I can't wait to see what your opinion of it is!

I've been looking forward to this movie for a while. I agree with you, Trent. While Oliver Stone has made some really great movies, an equal amount are bombs. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out - although with W's approval rating swirling ever further down the toilet of public opinion, people may get pretty excited about it.
Oh, and I definitely agree with your feeling about Ellen Burstyn. Requiem For a Dream is still one of those movies I have to mentally prepare myself for. She was so amazingly tragic... esp. in the shock therapy scene...
