‘SNL’ Presents: The Vice Presidential Debate
The way it was meant to be

Saturday Night Live opened last night’s episode with a skit parodying the Vice Presidential debate that took place between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin at Washington University in St. Louis, MO earlier this week. Here, for your viewing pleasure, is the SNL skit in full which featured Jason Sudeikis as Biden and the AMAZING Tina Fey as Palin. Do try and keep from LOLing yourself to death:

I mean, Tina Fey killed it — again! At this point, she doesn’t even have to try anymore … she just … is. Hahahahhaha. This is an absolutely hilarious skit, hitting all the high (and low) points of the debate that we got to see earlier this week (and Queen Latifah really held her own as Gwen Ifill, well done). If Fey does not win some sort of award for her Palin portrayal, then there is really no justice in the world. I absolutely loved this skit, what did y’all think?

Can we please get a skit to show how crazy Joe Biden is. My god…PLEASE. Do some research kids. This SNL shit is getting out of hand.

    McCain 08!

  2. karen says:

um, actually, it’s still freaking (i mean *freakin*) hysterical. tina fey is brilliant — completely spot on. as long as palin keeps providing new material — i mean, there have been times, especially in the couric/palin spoof, where fey just uses palin’s own words. the only part of this whole thing that is not funny is that palin might end up in the white house. i have to say, though, that the part where biden says there should be “no distintion” for same-sex couples and then says, “absolutely not,” when asked if he supports gay marriage is hysterical, too. on a side note, do the republicans not have a speech coach to teach candidates how to pronounce nuclear? first W and now palin? or is correct pronunciation elitest? (at least mccain can say nuclear.)

  3. emily says:

I’ve done plenty of research and I’m pretty sure Sarah Palin has the edge on crazy, but thanks Alex!

Hilarious skit, and I am hopeful, as is Tina Fey, that she doesn’t have to play Palin for much longer.

Girladvenger, it seems to make more sense to vote for who will lead our country the best, not for who you “relate to” more. But thats just my opinion. Remember how W ended up in the White House? Cause everyone “related” to him and wanted to go get a beer with him. That turned out awesome right?

  4. Aud says:

I think Tina Fey better watch out because people are going to vote for Palin thinking she’s Fey.

Fey as Palin = Hilarious; Palin as Palin = Spooooooooky

Mark Wahlberg Talks To Animals was tooooo FUNNY! Andy got his voice down! Lovely!! Why doesn’t he host SNL? That would be a hoot!

  5. gaby says:

i watched it earlier today…oooh man, i feel off the chair laughing! she’s jsut a comedy GENIUS. and jason did a good job, too! great, great skit…keep em coming!

  6. lauren says:

I cannot believe how perfectly she gets all of Palin’s mannerisms… the leaving the “g” off of every word, the weird midwestern accent, the strange grimacing smile, etc etc. God she is brilliant. Palin, not so much. Plus, I think her as the VP choice really shows how low McCain has fallen, from actually caring about this country to just grasping at cheap political straws that he hopes will dominate the headlines for a few weeks. I can’t wait for President Obama.

  7. Sarah says:

We were killing ourselves laughing last night at that. Tina’s Palin is absolutely spot on!

OH. And. Unrelated to Tina, but still…What’d you think of the new Killers tracks, Trent? They didn’t perform Human the best ever (though it sounds better than the actual recording), but I’m really digging Spaceman!

OMG for the first time in a long time SNL is giving people a reason to stay in on a Saturday night. These political spots, especially the ones with Tina Fey are so spot on and so funny it’s incredible. Tiny Fey just IS Palin. The Biden loving McCain thing was hysterical and I absolutely love how there is already a drinking game for Palin! Too funny, hats off SNL you finally seemed to get your groove back!

  10. Jamie says:

I think they should do a skit on Obama and his terrorist associations or his racist pastor and throw in his inexperience for doing NOTHING as a senator, oh wait, he was technically running a presidential campaign so I guess that’s qualification enough to be a democratic presidential hopeful. While we’re at it, WHY should I have a first lady who doesn’t have respect for our country who also does not appreciate our accomplishment in the past.
If having a black president is the only way she could feel this country justified, what is she doing here?
If SNL, Leno, Lettermen, John Stewart and whoever else I missed had ANY balls, they have all the materials they want but unfortunately, to be successful in the entertainment industry, you MUST be a democrat so they will never go hard on Obama.
But I guess it wouldn’t be funny cuz it’s too damning and too real. So instead, they go after Palin, who may not be perfect (but far more so than Obama and Biden combined) but is a very respectable WOMAN who is there with her own rights and REAL accomplishments who seem to genuinely care about this country and it’s people. Mccain/Palin 08

  11. Dana says:

    @ jamie:

do you want to know why they’re attacking Palin? because in this world, it’s still seen as a man who should hold the power, and woman can’t hold up a high office. I’m sorry if hillary was on the Democratic ticket they would be attacking her JUST AS HARD. the the focus has been on HER, not McCain or Biden or Obama. she’s a woman and she’s being seen as dumb (and unfortunately she’s been giving them too much ammo, but she’s not for example the Queen of Jordan who is the ruling power, very intelligent and can run circles around palin) so they have to attack her in every shape and form. they did it pretty hard to hilarry so you can’t sit and say it’s about her being Democrat or Repblican or ignoring who, She’s a woman and unfortunately is inferior.

I respect who you are pulling for, as I am pulling for Obama/Biden, however I’m a woman and I can see that they’re only this because she’s a woman. If she was on the Democratic ticket this same thing would be happening.

    Dana:

They are not doing this because she’s a woman. They are doing this because Sarah Palin is absolutely ridiculous and unqualified to be VP or god forbid, President. She claims Alaska being close to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, for God’s sake!
I have to agree with you that attacks on Hillary were hard, but Palin is not getting attacked just because she’s a woman. She’s getting attacked because she’s managed to show as little intelligence and expertise as George W. Bush.

  14. Jamie says:

Dana, thankyou for being nice about this as you are an Obama/Biden supporter and I will show you the same respect.
It’s not fair to say the least, that Palin is shown as “weak” and “dumb”.
If you take all the harsh evidence against Obama, McCain, Biden and Palin, Obama has the most and damning skeleton in his closet and that’s a fact. But does he get bashed in the media for it? NO. Why, because he’s a Male, Democrat, who also, happens to be Black. Take all of the PC stuff out, and this is what you get.
It’s also fair to say, ALL of the candidates have said something that could be taken the wrong way, but instead the media only targets her. Yes, I do believe it’s because she is a woman and especially because she is a conservative republican (which has somehow become a synonym for nazi/antichrist party, courtesy of our un-biased media) and she has proven herself to be a serious threat to the democratic party.
I believe Hilary didn’t get a fair shake either but only AFTER Obama came into play. Before that, she was pretty much the media darling and nobody seemed to have a problem with her.
She’s a Clinton, had creds, likeability, charisma, everything …according to the media.
If Obama never came along, I do believe Hilary would’ve gotten a pass just like Obama has thus far.

  15. Nicole says:

Queen Latifah was my fav on this one, her neck pulls and whatchu talkin’ bout looks were THE BEST!!! She deserves BIG props!! Loves it!

  16. olivia says:

    Kim, you are kidding right???
Most agreed that Palin won the debate and some said they tied, GET YOUR FACT STRAIGHT.

  17. Nat says:

NBC pulled the video from You Tube — any idea where else I can watch it? :(

  18. Lady J says:

Olivia, where did you see that Palin “won” the debate? Just curious, because I saw on every news source I referenced that they “tied,” which is the pc way of handling the whole thing.

Also, Tina Fey is wonderful as Sarah Palin! she pretty much used all of Sarah’s own words. And the Biden impression was fabulous as well! People, SNL attacks both parties….it’s just that the Republicans are giving them more material to work with right now. Personally, I will never support a candidate that WINKS at the camera and SHOUTS OUT to third graders on National TV. She is an embarassment to intelligent woman everywhere. thank goodness she is just the VP candidate, and the vote really isn’t all about her.

  19. christine says:

i haven’t even seen any of the tina fey skits and i’m so over them. i guess it’s the only way SNL can get viewers these days.

  20. Dawn says:

Nat – check Hulu.com it’ll probably be on there.
