‘SNL’ Presents The Second Presidential Debate
Last night, NBC aired a special half hour episode of Saturday Night Live in order to capitalize on the current election year. I’m not sure why but tomorrow night’s ep of SNL will be a repeat (they are reairing the season premiere with Michael Phelps as host) so last night’s new ep was a way for SNL to poke fun at the second Presidential Debate that took place earlier this week. Here is SNL’s version of the second debate between Senator Barack Obama and John McCain:

LOLOLOL! If you watched the actual Presidential Debate then you know that this skit hits all the funny high points. I think the Tom Brokaw bits are the funniest but the impersonations of the two candidates are pretty dead-on. Last night’s ep of SNL only featured this skit and a Weekend Update with Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers (which was marginally funny but not amazing … as usual). I have loved the SNL versions of all the debates thus far … and you?

I thought it was great, especially the debate portion – and I was just thrilled to watch some semblance of SNL while I wasn’t struggling to stay awake!

I think weekend update has been really funny so far this season. I wonder who is taking over for Amy when she leaves?

This is HILARIOUS. I am so glad to see SNL make a big come back and revive their ratings! The constant wandering of John McCain all over the damn stage bothered me SO MUCH when watching the debate on Tuesday!!! LOOOVE these SNL skits, “my friends”!

Trent I can’t believe you didn’t think Weekend Update was that great! Really?? Really Trent?? OMG are you serious???!!! LOLOLOL’d so hard at that part!

Funny, but could have been more funny. They practically wrote their own sketch when doing the actual debate… and the snl writers missed so many funny parts.
McCain’s wandering was good, though.

Rhonda’s comment cracked me up. HA! ‘McCain’ dosey-do’ing- in the background while ‘Obama’ was speaking was hilarious. SNL’s doing alright!

The Obama guy is dead on with the way he talks, I think he was great. The McCain guy didn’t move around enough while talking though.

I loved how they did McCain with his high shoulders and square arms. He always looks like he’s gonna just bust into doing the ‘Robot’!!

kelly, mccain had his arms broken when he was a prisoner of war, and thats why his arms are like that.

I thought the debate segment was pretty funny, and for once, not particularly mean. They captured both men’s idiosyncrasies well, but kept it fairly lighthearted. I was bored to tears during the Weekend Update, though.

i know exactly why his arms are like that. but thank you.

Fred Armisen needs to work on his Obama. He has the same delivery as him, but thats about it.
At first I wasn’t convinced that Hammond did a good McCain, but he was hilarious here!
