‘Snatch It Up’ With Jessica Alba
Yesterday we saw the two campaign ads that Jessica Alba features in for the nonprofit organization Declare Yourself (which aims to get young people registered to vote), one of which showed Jessica wearing a Hannibal Lecter-like muzzle mask which was meant to illustrate the notion that “only you can silence yourself” by not registering to vote. Today we get to check out a short promo vid put out by Declare Yourself that carries on the “muzzle” theme and features not only Jessica but Heroes star Hayden Panettiere and 90210 star Tristan Wilds:
This vid is cheeky and far less threatening than the controversial poster artwork, I think. A few Pink readers commented that they were very turned off by the images in the Declare Yourself poster artwork … I’m curious to hear what folks think about this tongue-in-cheek vid.

Blah…I wanted to slap the thing on Alba’s mouth about 10 seconds into it! Hayden should’ve been the “host”…

I liked the disclaimer at the end. And that was about it.

Annoying beyond belief. How does she manage to make herself this annoying.

Enough with the sherade Jess, please go back to whatever you do to make end’s meat. You couldn’t convince me to tend to a crying baby so …STOP.

It’s okay. Hayden looked like she was selling lingerie, too.
But aren’t these ads too late when some states’ registering deadlines have already passed???
October 3rd, 2008 at 7:53 pm
LOL, okay, sorta strange…
But is it just me or did Hayden look like she was on a ladder or something? She’s almost a FOOT TALLER THAN JESSICA!

I’m so sick of Jessica Alba trying so hard to look informed when she truly is not.

I thought this was hilarious!!! Jessica’s over-the-top sales pitch killed me!!! LOL! I thought the ads were a bit creepy – but so is the thought of people not caring about who runs our country! I think it is great that she is so active with declare yourself! :)

Trent you should post Leonardo DiCaprio’s PSA that premiered on Ellen yesterday..it was fantastic!!

That was pretty funny. I think they should focus more on what they’re trying to accomplish, because only the bit at the end really does that.
‘I’m so sick’ of people beating down on Jessica Alba.

I agree that it is a shame if someone chooses not to vote. However, I think the print ads are in extremely bad taste.
The video takes a lighter tone, but I still think it is inappropriate.

This b*tch wont shut her mouth. She’s beyond annoying!!! She’s just using her image to proclaim her belief!
October 4th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Probably the best acting I’ve ever seen Alba do.

LAME LAME LAME LAME….
October 4th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Alba is annoying but I like Hayden. She seems very interested in the world around her at such a young age I do hope she doesn’t get washed up like Alba.

The Xtina Aguilera sewn-up mouth ads are a direct reference to a David Wojnarowicz “silence=death” AIDS awareness piece from the 80s.

I never thought she was a good actress (jessica), now im changing my mind.
October 5th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Yuck to both of them. But it is sorta funny seeing Jessica looking like she really believes she’s making a change doing these retarded ads.
