Sarah Jessica Parker Gets Involved In The Political Process
Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker reported for duty at the NYC Headquarters of the Obama/Biden campaign last night to man the phone banks for a few hours in order to make calls on Obama’s behalf to undecided voters. Not content with just showing up for the glitzy Hollywood fundraisers, SJP rolled up her sleeves and got down in the trenches with other committed Obama campaign volunteers:

I think it’s very impressive for someone like SJP to put her money where her mouth is (in this case, literally) and actually work for a campaign like this. It is very easy for celebs to just show up at fundraisers, donate money and be on their way but you gotta respect the celebs who care enough to actually put in an modicum of effort to work on a political campaign like this. I’m happy to report that my BFF Sarah will be donating some of her time this Sunday to volunteer for the Obama/Biden campaign in her Dearborn, MI neighborhood. The presidential campaign is getting down to the wire and folks are really stepping up in the last days to try and make a difference and bring much needed CHANGE to this country. It’s not too late for YOU to get involved in your neighborhood:

Click HERE to find out how you can get involved in the Obama/Biden campaign in these few remaining days. Having worked on previous political campaigns for the Democrats, I can assure you … it’s an insanely rewarding experience. Can’t volunteer? Click HERE to make a donation to the Obama/Biden campaign and receive a One Voice can Change the World t-shirt! Get involved, make a difference :)

SJP is so awesome. She is really a down-to-earth girl who seems quite honest and sincere. Love her!

This is great but all I ever hear on this website is about Obama. What about being impartial? I know who you are voting for but just saying. That doesn’t give away who I am voting for by the way so no one needs to say nasty things. JUST GET OUT AND VOTE PEOPLE!!!

where is the link sign up and donate for McCain/Palin
October 31st, 2008 at 11:02 am
Nowhere, b/c McCain is using public funds.

Messiah,
You can use your powers of personal responsibility and find out how to do that for McCain/Palin.
Trent’s obviously been pretty pro-Obama for a while now and has that right to his opinion as do you.

Trent…we get it…you are voting for Obama. You move to California so I guess you have to be like all the other celebrities and jump on that train, and no wonder the celebs are voting for him…they make all the $ so you guys will be well benefitted with Obama, while us regular people will get completely screwed. Don’t believe the hype people.
It’s fitting that Obama picked Biden, they’ve both been accused of plagerizing their speeches.
I want results, not just a fancy speech!
GO McCain!

you are guys are hilarious. This is Trent’s blog – not CNN. He doesn’t have to be impartial. Everyone has the right to their opinion and Trent has the right to his.
Do you find lawnsigns offense, too? come on. vote for who you want for whatever reasons you choose and leave Trent alone.

The world trembles at the outcome of these elections. It sucks that we (other countries) have no control (and rightly, really) over who will be in charge of the world’s superpower. Hopefully the cheating rumours aren’t true, people will vote for who is CLEARLY the better candidate. Otherwise I can see McCain having a heart attack after winning (through cheating), and Palin being in charge. *shivver*
Hence the world, trembling at the outcome of the elections. Except the terrorists. They are hoping McCain wins. Surely that says something? ;)

This is Trent’s blog, which means he can write about whatever he wants to. He has no responsibility to be impartial. So stop getting mad because he’s voicing his opinion.
Jennifer – wow. quite an accusation there. I’m one of those “regular people” and I’m supporting Obama. I’ve been following this election religiously for the past two years. I’ve looked into all of the candidates. I know their positions. I know what they want to do. I know what they’re capable of. I’m not voting for Obama because of the hype. I’m voting for him because, based on all of the knowledge I’ve obtained, he’s the best candidate for the job. Also, your logic doesn’t really make any sense, since Obama’s proposing tax cuts for 95% of the population. So, those celebrities you refer to are the ones who are going to lose the tax cuts made to them under the Bush administration. I can accuse McCain of being a terrorist – that doesn’t make it true. If you’re going to say they plagiarized their speeches, please provide some evidence. & maybe you should take some time to look at the websites for both candidates. Obama lays out detailed plans; McCain lays out vague language. Perhaps you should stop eating up the garbage the conservatives are feeding you & do some research instead of just repeating tired protests that carry no weight.

I’ll wear my Barack the Vote tshirt proudly over the next few days :)

Go McCain!!!

Moniker=slang term for a nickname. I think you meant modicum? I’m not trying to be an asshole I just have a slight obsession with grammar and the like…it’s a sickness really. Also, go Obama!
October 31st, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Great post, love SJP, love Obama. Not to be the nitpicky grammar freak but I think maybe you meant that SJP is putting in a “modicum” of effort, not a “moniker.” :)
Oh, and Jennifer, I would venture to say that Trent being an intelligent, gay man has more to do with his choice than the fact that he lives in California. Not to stereotype, but how many people want to vote for someone who wants to take away their rights? And I am quite sure that he was a Dem. long before he moved to Cali.

Quinn, sorry I wasn’t trying to piggyback. You posted while I was typing.

Qunn, Ashley — thanks ;) I amended the post :)

Trent, I agree with your sentiments about SJP–it’s nice to see a celeb actually do something besides just wear the t-shirt.
And to all of the people who have a problem with obama-related content: just SCROLL DOWN!! I personally find The Hills irritating as hell, so when I see Hills-related content, I just scroll down. It’s that simple. Seeing the Obama logo is not going to give you Obama cooties. Geez.

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.” Adolf Hitler…
“CHANGE” obama
MCCAIN PALIN 08
October 31st, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Seriously? SERIOUSLY?! You’re going to compare Obama to Hitler. What is wrong with you?
October 31st, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Messiah is a short sighted asshole, that’s why he would compare Hitler to Obama….
October 31st, 2008 at 1:52 pm
what the hell messiah,
so apparently your pro mcccain and hitler,
and come on i chose obama in this election, but if there were mccain blogs and just cause trent is obvs. voting mccain don’t be an asshole to him and everyone with diff. opinions on this site
October 31st, 2008 at 1:58 pm
Guys- ignore Messiah…
He/she is obviously trying to piss people off by being a complete dumb ass.
Great post Trent. Its always cool seeing celebs helping out at HQ’s!
October 31st, 2008 at 2:06 pm

ignorance is bliss
October 31st, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Good for her…I did some phone banking…you really do feel like you’re doing your part. Great job SJP…other celebs should follow your example…don’t just wear the shirts / buttons / stickers, actually do something! =0)

hear hear SJP and Trent! I can’t wait for PRESIDENT OBAMA!!! *knock on wood* To not feel despair and fear and shame about who’s in charge of the country will be awfully nice.
