Miley Cyrus Flicks Her Tongue At Justin Gaston
Yesterday we saw photos of model Justin Gaston struttin’ his stuff on the runway at the Ed Hardy fashion show held at Smashbox Studios for LA Fashion Week on Wednesday night and we learned that his 15-year old “friend”, Miley Cyrus, came out to show her support. It turns out that Miley positioned herself in the front row so that she could give Justin some good-natured ribbing from the crowd by flicking her tongue at him (her mother Tish Cyrus also got in on the teasing). The New York Post is reporting that in addition to Miley’s tongue flick (which didn’t seem that scandalous to me), she and Justin were “all over each other” backstage which kind of disturbs me to think about. Here are a couple pics of Miley and her mother teasing Justin as he walked past them on the runway and the report from Page Six:
MILEY Cyrus had better be careful. The precocious 15-year-old Disney star showed up to LA Fashion Week Wednesday to catch her 20-year-old boyfriend, Justin Gaston, walking in the Christian Audigier show – and eyebrows rose at the pair’s behavior. According to an eyewitness, Gaston and Cyrus – who was there with her mother, Leticia, and her manager – “were all over each other backstage.” The heat extended to the runway where, every time Gaston walked, he would blow a kiss and wink at his teenage girlfriend, who in turn, “licked her lips seductively as he passed her.” The source also overheard a conversation in which Cyrus told a friend that “she was probably staying at Justin’s tonight and that they were going to skip the after-party and have a party of their own.” A rep for Cyrus said, “Miley had a great time at the show, but the whole sleeping-over thing never happened. Miley went home with her mom and manager. Leticia is very strict with her.”
While I question a bit the level of strictness that the Cyrus parents may inflict on their celebrity daughter, I must admit that it makes no sense for her parents to be so blasé about the relationship that has sprung up between a 20-year old man and their 15-year old daughter. I seem to recall how outraged they were when Vanity Fair published that photo of her bare back earlier this year (a photo they approved of when it was shot, I might add) and yet not only have no problem with Miley “befriending” a 20-year old man but publicly endorse their “friendship”. I sincerely hope all this gossy talk is just that … gossy talk. I cannot for the life of me rationalize how a 15-year old girl should be seriously involved with a 20-year old man. To me, it just seems so wrong.

That is just so disrespectful. While I personally wouldn’t want to go to a fashion show, that kind of behaviour is on par with yapping on your cell phone at the cinema. It’s disruptive to those who actually came to watch the show. Would they behave like that if he was in a play and not on a catwalk? Actually, they probably would. Effing rednecks.
And five years difference isn’t a big deal in theory, but when one person in the relationship is still legally a CHILD, it’s pretty disturbing.

Her parents are like most stage parents — they want their child’s fame, no matter what the cost. It cracks me up that they expect us to believe Miley is not sleeping with (being statutorily raped by) that man.

Justin doesn’t seem like the most mature guy, so I don’t get the big deal about the 5 year differenct. They both seem pretty childish to me, so it doesn’t place him on a much higher platform in my oppinion. However, I do think her actions at the show were disrespectful. I can’t believe her mother would do that just to be “friends” with her daughter- teach your child to be an adult by acting like one yourself.

I get where you’re coming from because I’m a little grossed out by it, too, but Hayden and Milo have a much bigger age difference and people are more accepting. Granted, Hayden is legally an adult, but only recently.

The parents come off as a more discreet version of the Lohans and the Hogans in my opinion. When the cellphone pictures of Miley first came out it was pretty obvious that the parents weren’t all that concerned about it. The fact that she is now getting cuddly with a 20 year old probably seems like good promotion for when her “not a girl,not yet a woman” style CD drops next year.

15 is still a child! There bodies are still developing for heaven’s sakes. I sure as hell never let my daughters hang out with 20 year old guys when they were that age. Not that they wanted to anyway. At 15, 20 seemed a bit too old for them. Actually, at 15 they were still pretty much happy to hang out in a group of mates than pair off.

Although the age of consent in California is 18, the lowest aoc in the country is 16, so Miley is still younger than the lowest aoc in the country. Also wiki says this about the California aoc:
“Any person 21 years of age or older who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who is under 16 years of age is guilty of either a misdemeanor or a felony, and shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years.”
So Hayden was still older than that, even if her partner was over 21.
Not to say the age gap there won’t be a problem either, but the legality isn’t quite the same. And even if she was 17 when she started dating him, she’s a legal adult now., so the whole thing is a moot point.
Also, I don’t know about any of you who are acting like it’s not a big deal, but I seem to remember maturing quite a bit between 15 and 17. It’s only a two year difference, so if you think there’s no real difference between 15 and 17, there shouldn’t be a big difference between 13 and 15, right?
And it’s naive (and slightly scary) to think a 15 year old will still be with her current boyfriend when she reaches her 20s.

Someone maybe a child emotionally, and act immaturely but that makes the whole thing worse. He is still physically a 20 year old man with urges, and the fact of the matter is no matter how “immature” he is those urges are still there. I feel like it makes it worse if he really is “immature” because immature boys tend to be the ones who pressure their young vulnerable girlfriends into sex as opposed to mature ones who can either say no to sex themselves, or not pressure a girl into sex.
Even if Miley wanted to have sex, he is older and should be responsible enough to put things into perspective (You know the fact that she’s still a CHILD).
However, this is all assuming they’re sexually active to begin with, which is what this “conversation” implies.

I LOVE Justin, I don’t care what you people say. My parents are very strict with me and love me and care for me very much, they love that I like Justin and that he likes me. And the age differance does not matter at all….it just matters that you love the person and that they love you back!

I believe age difference totally matters when they are this age. A 20 year old is in a completely different phase of life, compared to a 15 year old. 20 year olds are thinking about life plans, career and earning money to pay the rent. Miley’s age group are (supposed to be) concentrating on being ‘carefree’, before the hideous realities of REAL LIFE hit them. Miley’s parents are being extremely naive … if they are not already ‘doing it’, they are doing other things. All 20 year old guys think about and want is SEX! … I say enjoy being a kid for as long as you possibly can.
