Madonna & Guy Ritchie HAVE NOT Reached A Settlement
This past Saturday we learned that the British newspaper The Sun was reporting that Madonna and Guy Ritchie have reached a settlement in their just announced divorce which led some to believe that the split might be a mostly amicable one. Today we have word from Madonna’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, that no such settlement has been reached. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the divorce is gonna turn nasty but it does seem to imply that some wrangling back-and-forth might yet come making the divorce proceedings a bit more complicated than was previously believed:
Madonna’s divorce settlement with her estranged husband Guy Ritchie has yet to be finalized, the singer’s publicist said Sunday. The Sun and The Mail on Sunday reported that the two had struck a deal over their finances and how to split their property. The Mail also reported that they had agreed to a custody arrangement for the couple’s children. In a brief e-mail message sent to The Associated Press, Liz Rosenberg said she would not be commenting on media reports that the pop star and her film director husband had reached or were about to agree on how to share the couple’s multimillion dollar fortune and custody of their children. “I will not be commenting on the various reports regarding the divorce or of the settlement which has not been finalized,” Rosenberg said. A statement from Guy Ritchie’s representatives in London also declined comment.
As much as I hoped that this divorce would be a friendly one, it makes more sense that a settlement would not be agreed upon so quickly. Madonna and Guy Ritchie shared an immense fortune … now that they are parting ways, I’m sure both parties will work diligently to ensure that their interests are protected. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around the legal protection that is in place to safeguard Madonna’s interests. I mean, I’m sure Guy is well lawyered up but you just know that Madonna has got her booty well-covered. Again, I’m still hoping for an un-nasty divorce from these two but these sorts of mega-divorces seem to have a way of getting out of hand.

I thought it was really cool of him to bow out so easily and without asking for more. I knew it was to good to be true. I hope he doesn’t get all greedy! We know who really earns all the money in that family!!

God Madonna looks horific in that picture. I have always thought she was very ugly but this picture makes her look like shes in her 60s

I doubted the first reports…he seemed to “settle” for quite a small amount taking into account her entire fortune.

I read that there is no pre-nup, so Madonna may be looking at dishing out much more than 20 million, as reported!

Eh, I’d be shocked if it ended friendly. I mean, I’d love it if it did, but first she hires Sir Paul’s attorney, then there are reports that he called her “granny” and said she was “past it”? Of course, she’s allegedly name-calling, too. I dunno. Doesn’t sound too hopeful. :( I hope that if she ever gets seriously involved with someone again, it’s with someone who’s neither physically nor mentally abusive.
