Capello wants him on the England team for experience and to mentor the young players. It looks like Capello had a hand in him choosing Milan instead of training with Arsenal like he did last year. I saw the last England match at Wembley and the reaction Beckham got was incredible.

To the person who said England is “over him”, did you watch the last England match when Theo Walcott came off for Beckham? Beckham got a huge ovation as he came onto the pitch because he is a top professional and actually LOVES playing for his country (unlike others).

One of the reasons Capello keeps putting Beckham in the squad is because fans will rush out to see him, and they get excited when he’s on the pitch. (which is exactly what he said in a recent interview).
So I guess not all of England is “over him”!
As for the rumors, I think it’s unlikely that he would be “loaned” to ACMilan. What Beckham probably wants is to play in Europe during the offseason, because he needs to be fit enough to play competetively for England, and MLS is not at the same standard of play as the rest of the world.
What Beckham needs to do is train with a European team (like he did last year with Arsenal), but the catch 22 is that unless you actually PLAY against other teams, training doesn’t tell you where you’re at.

I think he thought that he would be guaranteed a place in the England squad even with him playing half way across the world and in an (i’m sorry) inferior league.

By playing for Milan he expects to regain his place, but to be honest I doubt it will make much difference to Capello as Beckham is past his prime wherever he’s playing.

Sorry for the rant but most people in England have been over him for a few years now.
