First Look: Robert Downey, Jr. As Sherlock Holmes

Elementary, my dear readers
October 10th, 2008

Earlier this week we saw the first pics of Jude Law rockin’ his new mustache for his role as Watson in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie … today it’s Robert Downey, Jr’s turn to show off his new look. Here is our first look at RDJ on the set of the new Guy Ritchie-directed film based on the famed Arthur Conan Doyle character which is currently filming in Central London … behold:

Despite the fact that these photos do not feature Sherlock Holmes with his trademark pipe, I really love these pics. I just know that RDJ is gonna make a great Sherlock. I’m really looking forward to the interplay between RDJ and Jude Law. I never pegged Jude as sidekick material but I think it’s gonna work. What do y’all think?

Not looking so good in my opinion! I will wait to see. I will take Guy Ritchie thou…He can be my Watson anyday:)!!

He looks fine in the outfit, but he certainly isn’t as polished & refined as Sherlock Holmes. If this is to be a modern take with modern dialogue then maybe…

  3. Green Is Good Says:

I’ve always liked the Sherlock Holmes stories and films. I’m looking forward to this movie!

After Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brent,I do not think Robert Downey Jr can be a good Sherlock Holmes.I’m spoiled by the other great actors. And even when the two others did SH at different eras.Nobody can be as good as those two particularly RDJ.Of course, he has the drug addiction affecting SH down pat.It will natural for RDJ to look spaced out and out.

I’ve always pictured Sherlock to be taler, more prim and proper. It is almost as if RDJ fits the role of Watson better.I hope his great acting skills can make up for not physically fitting the role.

It looks like “Charlie Chaplin” all over again!…costume wise.
