Danity Kane Undergoes A Reorganization
Diddy steps in to make some changes

The MTV reality series Making The Band 4, which follows the adventures of the Bad Boy acts Danity Kane, Day 26 and Donny Klang, aired a live season finale episode last night which was a continuation of last week’s shocking episode. At the end of last week’s ep, P. Diddy threatened to kick some folks out of the pop group Danity Kane. In last night’s conclusion ep, we all learned what came of Diddy‘s threats:

In order to keep the drama unspoiled for those of you who have yet to see the ep I’ll keep the SHOCKING developments behind the cut. After the jump, find out who if anyone was kicked out of Danity Kane — and why …

So … the future of the fairly successful Danity Kane is now in doubt since it was revealed last night on live TV that Aubrey O’Day and D. Woods have been ejected from the group:

On Tuesday night’s live season-three finale of “Making the Band 4,” Diddy confirmed the rumors that Aubrey O’Day is no longer in Danity Kane. He also kicked out D. Woods, leaving only Aundrea Fimbres, Dawn Richard and Shannon Bex in the group he so carefully put together before our eyes four years ago. “I would rather be hated every damn day of my life for being real than loved for being something I’m not,” O’Day defiantly told Sway on the special that aired Tuesday night. Diddy, who spoke to the girls and the audience via satellite, had some advice for tabloid target Aubrey. “Check this out, baby girl,” Diddy said. “See, your attitude is gonna have you in a dark and lonely place. … What you need to do, at the end of the day, is humble yourself. I got love for Aubrey. I don’t have any beef with her,” he added. “I just want to work with the young lady that I signed, not the person that fame has made her.” “I don’t think any of us has been happy for a long time,” admitted D.Woods, who Diddy said had gotten “caught up in the wrath” of Aubrey. MTV News reached out to a rep for Danity Kane to see where the future of the band stands now that Aubrey and D. Woods are no longer in the group. It’s being reported that D.Woods has plans to work with another group, the Girls Club. O’Day, who recently made her Broadway debut in “Hairspray,” has not announced what she will be doing next. “Tonight is a representation of the end of a chapter in my life; it’s not the end of the book,” O’Day said in a backstage interview before the finale. “I will do everything possible to make my mark on this industry, and Danity Kane and Puff provided me with this amazing opportunity to go out and really touch people’s hearts. I think the way that we were able to inspire people was something that I will never be able to achieve in that way again in my life.” On Tuesday, it was also confirmed that there will be another season of “Making the Band.”

Dawn, one of the remaining members of Danity Kane, spoke with US Weekly and revealed why she thinks that Diddy decided to give Aubrey and D. Woods the boot:

“Puff did not like [O'Day's] image…where her image was going for the group,” Dawn Richard – one of the three remaining bandmates – tells Usmagazine.com exclusively. “It wasn’t a personal thing,” Richard continues, saying her sexy look (the singer posed topless in Complex last month) was alienating young fans. “We had just did a signing with Dollhouse Teen, which is for 13, 14-year-old young girls,” Richard says. “So we can’t do that one day and then the next day do an obnoxious cover…. [Diddy] wants the fans, and he says he can’t do that if we can continue to go in the direction that we were going.” … As for D. Woods getting tossed? Diddy said she got “caught up in the wrath” of O’Day. But not to worry, Danity Kane fans: the group will go on. “Well Puff told me specifically that Aubrey is no longer in Danity Kane and Danity Kane will move forward without her,” Richard says. And to find the girls’ replacements? “He has not said anything per that,” Richard says. “But I think in my heart that he is gonna do another show.”

Despite all assurances from everyone involved with last night’s episode of Making the Band 4 — from Diddy who did the kicking out to Aubrey who was kicked out — I am having a tough time totally believing the realness of this development. DK managed to release 2 #1 albums in succession and they scored a major hit with their song Damaged this year alone. Watching the way that this season of MTB4 played out, the ejection of both Aubrey and D. Woods seemed very odd to me. Diddy sends the ladies on a celebratory vacay in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico after they completed a successful tour and then he calls them into a meeting and kicks out two of the members. It just doesn’t make sense. The DK members promised with tear-filled eyes that all of this is “real” … I’m not 100% convinced — especially when it was announced that there will be another season of Making The Band. Will there be a reconciliation? Will there be auditions for replacements? In either event, Diddy and MTV are counting on the fact that fans of the show will be watching. That being said, I can see the point that Aubrey has been taking her image into racier territory than the rest of the group. From the start, I always felt that Aubrey has set herself apart from the rest of DK and, to be honest, I always thought she’d be the one to leave of her on volition. The bottom line here is that DK has been changed forever. Is it a huge mistake on Diddy‘s part to make such sweeping changes or will the group find new life in a new incarnation? Will Aubrey and D. Woods be able to find success elsewhere? Does anyone really care either way about any of this?

I love Dawn! I think that out of everyone that she is the most marketable and can transition from Pop to R&B seamlessly. However, when I first started watching Making the Band 3, I loved Aubrey! I rooted for her not to be kicked off and I just loved her style and personality. Then all of a sudden she’s lubed up with baby oil and has these huge implants and duck lips. I find that to be a betrayal to her original fans, I’m not sad that Aubrey is not in the group any more because honestly I don’t believe that there will a group.

Other blog sites have been reporting for quite some time now that Dawn has been signed to Bad Boy as a solo artist and that she has been secretly touring as the aforementioned solo artist. The bottom line is that Danity Kane is through and that this is all a distraction to ensure that Dawn coming out as a solo artist is not seen as back stabbing.

okay, now i feel better that i know what happened. haha but i have to agree with you, though, on the case of Aubrey. she was a little too racy and knew that she wouldn’t be in the group much past this year. but with D, that came as a surprise. i didn’t much like her either, though, so it’s cool. my fave has always been Shannon and that other girl with brown hair (haha i don’t even know her name!).

I’m with Diddy on this one. I really miss the original Aubrey. :| Aubrey 2.0 makes Pamela Anderson look classy.

Those pictures of Aubrey topless and licking a nasty stripper pole really put me off about her. She acts like a total skank, which unfortunately is getting her the wrong kind of attention. She parties constantly and her fashion skills are severely lacking!! I dont care much for DK…but i hope they do well without her. She will be sorry she acted like trash, mark my words.

I smell Aubrey getting her own reality show, while DK ‘moves’ on. BOOM! Double the media.

I have loved Aubrey from the beginning, Ioved her when she was cute and seemingly innocent and I love her now as “Ivory.” There is no way that DK will be able to stay standing without her, all the other girls are so vanilla. However, I do trust that Diddy knows what he is doing – MTB and DK jumped the shark at least six months ago. I do look forward to Aubrey’s future career of posing for Play Boy and her TV comeback on VHI1′s Celebrity Rehab.

I completely agree w/u about how Aubrey’s future will play out! Is it just me or did Aubrey look like she was on something during the finale. Her behavior was very strange!

  8. Gretchen says:

    If this is real.
Then DIddy made a grave mistake. If Aubrey is as wonky as she seems to be, then Diddy should have insisted she get help. Not toss her from the group. To do it so publicly could send Aubrey into a a serious tailspin!!
    Remember Anna Nicole?!

Aubrey got attention yes but not the kind of attention that Diddy liked. Actually http://aubreyoday.us posted an interview from a Day26 member Brian. Brian said: “I’m going to tell you something about that. I love Aubrey. She’s a very talented woman and she’s my sister. But the Aubrey you saw in the season finale is not the Aubrey we are used to seeing. I’m not trying to bash her. She’s a talented young lady. But she went out there and she handled the situation the most unprofessional way possible. There’s a lot that went on behind the scenes and the cameras only are going to show what they want to show. You didn’t get to see everything. There was a lot building up to Aubrey getting kicked out but you didn’t get to see it.”

That’s really sad. Also to much too sooon – and more money more problems. Yes “Damaged” went platinum and their last album as a 5sum went #1.But also Aubrey became a mini mogul in months. She started a clothing line” Heart On my Sleeve”, “HairSpray” and she’s now working on a solo album after her DK demise. This reminds of when Ginger left the Spice Girls in ’98. Ginger lloked tried and done and over it. And Aubrey looked the same.
