Brad Pitt May (Or May Not) Be In SoCal

Is he or isn't he?
Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Earlier this week Angelina Jolie surprised the folks at the Hollywood Film Festival by making a surprise appearance to honor her Changeling director Clint Eastwood. Ange managed to sneak her way into the country to appear at the gala this week but it was unclear if she snuck into town by herself or with her pretend-hubby Brad Pitt. Today we have new photos that claim to be of Brad Pitt upon arrival at LAX Airport yesterday afternoon …

… and while this guy looks like he could be Brad I’m not entirely convinced. It’s possible that Brad has lost a bit of weight while working on the new Quentin Tarantino film Inglourious Basterds which is currently being filmed in Germany but … I dunno. What do y’all think … is this really Brad Pitt as is claimed by the photo agency? If so, are we feelin’ the porn’stache?

Jason Statham Knows How To ‘Transport’ The Hotness

The third time around
Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Good news, y’all … action man Jason Statham is back again in the third installment of The Transporter franchise. After achieving marginal success with The Transporter and The Transporter 2, Jason is back in movie theaters next month in, you guessed it, The Transporter 3. It should come as no surprise that I am a big fan of the man and (some of) his movies (Death Race notwithstanding, yeesh!) largely because his flicks tend to offer amazing action scenes … oh and there’s the other matter of the man’s insane hotness. Here is a still from the upcoming movie Transporter 3 where Jason is doing what he does best … lookin’ good:

While it can be argued that Jason’s Transporter character Frank Martin is the hottest and best dressed dude who can kick your ass with both hands tied behind his back, I think there is something to be said for when Jason’s character isn’t dressed on screen at all. The Transporter films take great pains to make sure that Frank Martin is dressed to the nines, lookin’ sharp as hell (even after a sweaty fight) at pretty much all times … but they also take the time to insert some gratuitous half-nekkidness as well to give the audience a bit more excitement. Trust me, I’m a fan. I am really lookin’ forward to seeing this movie when it opens on November 26 not only for the less-dressed portions of the film but also because these movies are really very fun popcorn movies. The action, while ridiculous, is always fun to watch and even tho it’s TOTALLY unbelievable it’s always a good time.

Xtina Aguilera’s Latest Batch Of Promo Pics

Looks like it's goin' downhill from here
Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Earlier this week, Xtina Aguilera finally released the new music video for her new single Keeps Gettin’ Better to very little fanfare. After delaying the vid for some time after the single hit the airwaves, Xtina released (in my opinion) a pretty weak, unexciting vid. I was a bit bummed that the vid wasn’t very good, IMHO, especially since I quite like the song very much and have been diggin’ on some of the promo materials that she has been releasing in the past few weeks. Today we get a new batch of promo pics and, I have to say, these are the worst of the bunch. While I felt her previous promo pics were sexy and cute, I think these pics are neither of those two things:

Damn the red lipstick. It just makes her look cheap … I just don’t get it. The top B&W pic is the nicest of this batch but the slits in her top that expose parts of her breasts are just tacky as hell. These pics look more like the old Xtina that I’m not particularly fond of. I much prefer the less garish, more fun Xtina that we’ve been seeing around lately. I’m really not trying to be a hater but the “sultry” thing she tries to pull off ends up looking more trampy, I think. I dunno … am I totally wrong? Is this the Xtina that people want?

Lindsay Lohan & Samantha Ronson Take On NYC

Not by 'storm', more like 'puddle'
Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Word has it that Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson are planning on spending their Halloween on the East Coast this year since Sam has a DJ gig there tomorrow night. In fact, Lindsay and Sam have already made their way to NYC ahead of Sam’s Halloween gig and have been seen enjoying all the things that NYC has to offer … including the nightlife and the public transportation system:

No word on what L. Ron are planning to dress up as for Halloween but I hope they do something fun. By the looks of these pics, Linds looks like she’s over all the attention that she tends to generate whenever she goes out in public. It must be hard being a media darling when the media won’t stop following your every move. At least, L. Ron have each other and I know that Sammy will take good care of her. Hopefully they’ll rally and have themselves a very fun Halloween this year. Wouldn’t it be amazing if Lindsay dressed up as Sam and Sam dressed up as Lindsay for Halloween? What other fun costumes do y’all think they should dress up as?

MTV: The Next Generation

Music videos find a new home
Thursday, October 30th, 2008

In recent weeks, I’ve noticed a few comments here on the blog talking about state of music videos these days and how some folks find the need for videos unnecessary since networks don’t seem to air them on TV anymore. When Music Television launched in August of 1981, it revolutionized the way the world enjoyed music. Radio took a back seat to mini-music movies that were created for each new single released by musicians. MTV got people used to watching and enjoying music visually in a way that had never been done before. Then, in the ’90’s, MTV decided to focus more on original programing on their network letting music videos fall by the wayside (allowing other networks like Fuse to pick up their slack … but even those networks devote a lot of airtime to non-music video related programing). Today, you’d be hard-pressed to find one full-legnth 3 minute music video to watch on MTV at all. As a result, MTV is trying to take back control of the music video market by launching a new website at MTVMusic.com where their catalog of music videos can be watched online at any time:

The cable music channel, which debuted in 1981 with round-the-clock music videos but now primarily focuses on reality programming, has archived its video collection on a new Web site, MTVMusic.com. “For all of you haters out there griping about how MTV doesn’t play music videos anymore, here’s something to calm the waters,” according to a Tuesday blog post from MTV. “MTVMusic.com offers up a more in-depth library, including over 16,000 videos, “Unplugged” performances and exclusive MTV concert footage.” MTV promised to add more videos daily. It currently filters videos by most viewed, top rated and vintage videos (David Bowie, New Order, Duran Duran …). Users can also search by artist or song name. As of Wednesday afternoon, the “most viewed” videos on the site were Britney Spears’ “Womanizer,” Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing,” and Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Insert Rickrolling joke here.

While I would argue that NOTHING will ever be able to replace the amazingness of watching music videos on a TV network 24 hours a day, I think that this is prolly the next best thing. Once upon a time Polaroid cameras were all the rage … and now, digital photography has basically killed the instant film medium. It’s not better, necessarily, it’s just newer and more technologically advanced. The same thing happened to MTV … the public’s need (mind included) for shows like The Hills have forced the network to air that sort of programing instead of the music videos that made the network thrive. I’d argue that you can’t even call MTV “music television” anymore. But, again, this new site is prolly the best way to handle the problem. You Tube, as amazing as it is, is notoriously unreliable because unauthorized videos get taken down all the time. This new MTV site should offer all the videos we’d want to watch without the worry that they will be taken down. This is all very new so who knows if people will even care. I know that I, for one, like the idea of an online library of all the music videos in existence. Is this new site that? We’ll see. But, in the meantime, I’m gonna try and see if I can find any music videos on my actual TV to watch before they are all gone for good.

The David Has Landed

The TV Guide
Thursday, October 30th, 2008

As I suspected, yesterday was a pretty chill day for me. I did my best to tidy up and stock the fridge before David’s arrival last night. He ended up arriving early so we were able to spend some great quality time last night before we had to go to sleep … and by quality time, I mean we watched the Barack Obama 30-minute infomercial American Stories, American Solutions together … and then we watched the drama unfold on Top Design. He’s not as big a fan of the show as I am but I think he enjoyed it nonetheless. Try as they might, Top Design just can’t be Project Runway. It’s really hard to get excited about interior design. The drama that occurs between the contestants is kinda fun but … it just doesn’t have the same appeal. I’ve watched this season from the beginning so I’m totally invested to the point where I have to see it thru. I’m pulling for Nathan to win it all. This season ends next week.

Tonight, David and I have been invited to the opening night of Spring Awakening at the Ahmanson Theater here in LA, so we’re both very excited. We’ve each attended performances of the show on Broadway in NYC and I’m anxious to see it again. Should be fun.

Steph and Alek
arrive home from Paris, France tonight (for good!) and David’s sister Eden arrives from NYC for the weekend. It’s gonna be bizzy, bizzy around here this Halloween :)
