Adam Goldstein seems to be recovering nicely
DJ AM Gets Back To Work

Superstar DJ Adam AM Goldstein returned to his weekly club residency at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas, NV this week just about a month after surviving a fatal plane crash in South Carolina. As y’all know, DJ AM and Travis Barker were the only survivors of a private plane crash that claimed the lives of 4 people. In the weeks since the accident, both AM and Barker underwent various surgeries and have each been released from the hospital. Clearly, AM is recovering nicely since he is, once again, able to get behind the DJ decks and resume his weekly nightclub residency in Vegas. Here are a few pics of the very happy DJ doing his thang Tuesday night:

ADAM ‘DJ AM’ GOLDSTEIN has returned to the turntables at Las Vegas’ PURE nightclub a month after he was almost burned alive in a plane crash tragedy. The Los Angeles-based music man has a Tuesday night residency at PURE, but he has been unable to make the weekly trip to Sin City since his near-death experience on 19 September, which left four people dead. He returned on Tuesday. Goldstein made a triumphant return to DJ-ing last week when he performed as support to rap mogul Jay-Z at Hollywood’s Palladium.

I gotta tells y’all … it’s a mighty awesome sight seeing DJ AM back behind the decks doing what he does so well. It is really amazing that both he and Travis Barker managed to survive such a horrible experience and I’m sure both men are happy to have a “second chance at life”. I imagine that neither man is interested in taking anything for granted any longer. I’m very happy to see that DJ AM is back to work already so soon after his accident. Welcome back, AM! We’ve missed you :)

One year is enough
Heidi Montag’s Fashion Line Is Dunzo!

Sad news for fans of Heidi Montag‘s line of clothing called Heidiwood … it turns out that Anchor Blue, the design house/discount clothing chain that created/carried Heidi‘s collection, has pulled the plug on the line and opted out of extending their contract to produce and carry the clothes. That’s it, y’all … time to pour one out and send a hearty Peace the Spork Out to Heidiwood:

Heidi Montag’s clothing line, Heidiwood, is no more. Anchor Blue spokeswoman Marla White tells us the label will not renew its contract with Heidi. She said contrary to reports that the line had been discontinued, the contract was only one year long and they were happy to leave it at that. “We just felt that the one year was a great year for both of us, and we’re looking into other options,” she explained. “We really found that we want to explore … what style really means to our girl … and that doesn’t necessarily mean a celebrity brand. It really means fashion and comfort, and we can really accomplish that with our own brand … We’re taking a completely new style direction and we’re very, very excited about it.”

No word yet from Ms. Montag on this development but I suspect she and her partner in crime Spencer Pratt have already plotted a new course of world domination. This news has to sting just a little, especially in light of the fact that her nemesis Lauren LC Conrad just showed her second clothing collection at LA Fashion Week just last week. Ouch! I, for one, will never forget the first time I laid my eyes on the Heidiwood line … it doesn’t seem like it was that long ago … er, mebbe cuz it was just this past April. And WHO could forget the Heidiwood: Club Collection?! And now … it is all … no more. This is very sad news, y’all. Where are young women to turn if they ever need to procure zebra print tube tops and micro short shorts? Back to the racks at Forever 21 for those poor souls. Devastating news.

Peace the Spork Out, "Kimmie"
Lindsay Lohan Gets AXED From ‘Ugly Betty’

E! News is reporting a breaking story concerning Lindsay Lohan this AM. According to E!, Linds has been somewhat unceremoniously fired from the ABC series Ugly Betty. You may recall that Linds signed on to appear on the show in a cameo role last season and has since re-signed with the show to develop her guest starring role into a more featured character this season. It is now being reported that Lindsay is unwilling to actually develop her Kimmie character into one palatable for the series and, as a result, has been axed from the show. She’s dunzo, y’all:

It’s true. Sources close to ABC’s Ugly Betty confirm to me that Lindsay Lohan has been cut from the show. “They don’t plan to have her back for more episodes,” says a high-level insider. “And they are cutting her out of the episodes they have already shot.” According to my sources, the main driving force for this decision is that Lindsay was not gelling creatively with the series. “She was not so interested in creating a character,” another reliable insider close to Betty tells me. “She was more interested in just playing herself, and that doesn’t work on a show like this with such heightened reality.”

LOL. I love that the criticism of Lindsay‘s performance on the show is that she is reportedly “more interested in just playing herself”. To be totally honest, I can absolutely believe this contention. I can also see how a parting of the ways might be better on both ends. I thought it was awesome that Lindsay was doing her guest role on the show last season but I was a bit surprised to learn that she would not only be reprising her role this season but would be appearing in a more featured capacity on the series. I just never pegged Linds as a TV person at this point in her career … not yet, anyways. It kinda sounds like it was fun for a while and then the job got in the way of more funner stuff. And really, the total elimination of her character from the show won’t adversely impact a thing. While it was cute to see L. Lo on the show, her Kimmie character had yet to really add to the series. Ah well … c’est la vie. I doubt either Lindsay or ABC will lose much sleep over this axing.

UPDATE: Pink reader Brooke gave me the head’s up that Page Six is reporting that Lindsay‘s firing from the show had more to do with unruly behavior rather than E!‘s report of disinterest in developing the character:

IT got so ugly on the set of “Ugly Betty” between Lindsay Lohan and the popular ABC show’s star, America Ferrera, that Lohan was cut from an agreed-upon six episodes to four. One production source said, “It was a mess. Lindsay would show up every day with an entourage of people. She smoked 24/7, and after she left, they had to repaint her dressing room it was such a mess.” In addition, Lohan “would obsessively cut pictures of herself out of the tabloids like she was creating some sort of scrapbook and refused to go on set until America was there – it was a power play.” One episode, titled “Granny Pants,” was about how Lohan, playing Betty’s high school nemesis, would “de-pants” Ferrera. But Ferrera exacts her revenge and pulls down Lohan’s pants instead. “Lindsay wasn’t wearing any underwear,” the source said … The pal blames Ferrera for any issues, saying, “America was mean to Lindsay. Producers give her too much power. Lindsay didn’t do the last two episodes because America didn’t like her and got her kicked off.” Ferrera’s rep would only say, “America is grateful to have had her on the show and thinks everyone should tune in to see how great the episodes are.” Lohan’s rep said, “Lindsay was scheduled for six episodes and is appearing in four but had a lovely time.”

Honestly, I call bullshizz on the Page Six report. While the more salacious of the two reports, I think the Page Six report is just trying to garner attention in much the same childish manner that was highlighted in their report. The bottom line is that Lindsay is Ugly no more.

What this may mean for the LA Galaxy
Is Beckham Planning A Permanent Move To Italy?

Yesterday we got the first wind of the rumored report that David Beckham might be playing professionally for the AC Milan soccer team for four months next year during the US soccer off-season. It was reported that Italy was eager to have him and Becks was considering the proposition. But today, the LA Times reveals that in the melee of this furious sports story, the LA Galaxy was not even aware of what was going on. The paper suggests that all this talk of the Galaxy loaning out Becks to AC Milan was going on without anyone cluing in the management team of the LA Galaxy. Additionally, the Times piece argues that Becks should not be loaned out to the Italian team but should instead sever his ties with the LA Galaxy and move back to Europe permanently for the good of both the Galaxy and David Beckham. Here are a few pics of Becks and his most recent Galaxy training session in Carson, CA this week:

If David Beckham wants to play for England at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa he needs to leave Major League Soccer right now. Not on loan, not for just a short training spell with AC Milan or any other European club that comes calling, but for good — his own good and that of the Galaxy. Ever since AEG sounded the trumpets in January 2007 and announced amid much boasting and fanfare that it had signed Beckham, the Galaxy has been nothing but a puppet in the hands of Beckham’s management team. Just how emasculated the club is when it comes to Beckham was again clearly in evidence Wednesday. Stories were pouring out of Europe that AC Milan was close to signing the 33-year-old midfielder to a short-term loan deal during the MLS off-season. “We are speaking with his agent, but we believe he will arrive for some months on a free loan,” said Adriano Galliani, AC Milan’s vice president. “Beckham has chosen Milan. Our squad is ultra-competitive and it will remain this way, but Beckham is something different and intriguing.” Media reports across the continent were feverishly speculating on whether this could turn into a full-fledged trade, with Beckham returning triumphant to take his place again among the game’s elite players in Europe and abandon the experiment of trying to turn MLS from a soccer backwater into a soccer hotbed. Big-name players and coaches were quoted. Pundits rushed to get their opinions onto the Internet, on the air and into print. And the Galaxy? The Galaxy had no idea what was happening. Beckham opted not to be available to reporters after the team’s training session Wednesday in Carson, and no Galaxy official had the clout or the guts to make him face the media. The front office never even issued a news release. Bruce Arena, who wears two hats as the Galaxy’s coach and general manager, appeared bemused by it all. “I’ve spent not a second of my day even thinking about it, to be honest,” Arena said. “On the surface, it sounds like an odd proposition. I don’t see where that benefits MLS or the Galaxy. I don’t know if there’s anything true in the rumor.” Arena says that as far as he understands soccer’s rules, a player loan has to cover the entire period between two transfer windows, in this case from January to June, meaning that Beckham would miss the first three months of the 2009 MLS season. “The first I heard about it was today . . . but I would think [given] the position the Galaxy is in and [the fact that] we’re rebuilding our team and trying to have a successful year, it would seem very odd to me if we were loaning out our top players at the start of the season. It would seem pretty odd to me to operate that way.” … The only word from the Beckham camp came from Simon Oliveira of 19 Entertainment. “David’s intention is to maintain his fitness and keep himself eligible for England selection,” Oliveira said. “He very much remains a Galaxy player and he would be in Los Angeles for the start of the 2009 MLS season.” … Said AC Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti: “For me, it will be a pleasure. Beckham is a serious athlete, a great professional.” … Beckham has long insisted that he wants to take part in the World Cup in South Africa and will do whatever is necessary to be on the England team. To do so, he has to prove that he still has what it takes at the highest level. That’s why a permanent move to AC Milan, if it can be accomplished, is in his best interests. As for the Galaxy, the Beckham circus could fold its tents and then the club could go back to being what it once was — competitive in MLS.

There appears to be a bitter tone to this LA Times piece … but considering that neither Beckham nor the Milan team actually denied anything seems telling. In the end, tho, the LA Galaxy does have Becks tied up in an iron-clad contract … one that they paid a lot of money for. I don’t think that they are interested in losing out on that investment. Whether that means they would not be amenable to the loan is another story altogether. While I can understand how David Beckham may want to prolong his professional soccer career in Europe, I don’t really understand why he would sign a multiyear, very lucrative contract with a US team and expect to still be able to play on European teams whenever he likes. At this point, the whole story is just rumor and conjecture. My guess is that if Becks is loaned out to Italy he will have to be back by the start of next year’s MLS season — or the loan deal won’t happen. If the LA Galaxy, who paid out all those megamillions, is stupid enough to loan out their star player at the cost of him missing out 3 months of US play then they are really very stupid, IMHO. There’s a lot of talk going on right now … we’ll have to see if any of it actually comes to mean anything.
