Woot! I have some amazingly exciting Buffy news to impart today but first things first. Yesterday afternon, I met up with Darion on the West Side so that we could take a drive down to Redondo Beach, CA to dine at the amazingly delicious Chick-Fil-A. After we had sufficiently supped, we met up with Kirsten to catch a showing of the #1 movie at the box office, Max Payne. Now, it should be noted that it was not my movie pic (mainly because I am always disappointed by movies based on video games) but we decided to trust Darion on this one … turns out … we shouldn’t've:

I cannot even stress how horrrrrible this movie was. I mean … for an action film, you might expect action but that’s not what you get from Max Payne. The movie is just boring. Bottom line. ZZZZZZZZfest. Mark Wahlberg offers one facial expression the entire film and you spend all of your time trying to figure out what the hell is going on. The confusing story is so boring, tho, that you quickly lose interest and end up just hoping for amazing action scenes with cool special effects. Even then … nothing. Sure there are some FX but they were sparse and, IMHO, pointless. Heroes offers more exciting effects than this movie did. Throw in formulaic story-telling (with the classic villainy that allows the hero to escape and save the day) and you get a pretty worthless movie. I bet watching the video game would be more entertaining. Seriously, I can’t even give it a rating of poop sandwich cuz that would be too kind. Trust me, take a pass on this one. I couldn’t find one redeeming quality. It’s just … bad.
BUT .. the night was not a total wash. Last week, Pink reader John gave me the head’s up that Best Buy is offering free DVDs of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Cast Panel Discussion that was hosted by the Paley Center this past March. You may recall that I was very lucky to attend that panel discussion in person. On John’s advice, Darion and I popped in to a local Best Buy and, lo and behold, they did have them (on an endcap next to the BtVS DVD box sets). After the movie, Darion, Kirsten and I watched the entire 90 minute DVD — so awesome!

I know there were lots of fans who were not able to get inside for the panel discussion so I’m sure this DVD will be in high demand. My suggestion is to check your local Best Buy as soon as you can to see if they have the DVDs in your town:

The entire panel discussion is featured on this disc … it’s a must see for any Buffy fan. It turns out that my mug made it onto the DVD as well. In a few shots, you can see my profile in the audience:

I never thought I’d be happy to have such a recognizably big nose ;) In any event, Buffy fans should really seek out this DVD. I’m not sure if this Buffy Cast Panel video will be available in any other format … so get it if you can*.
*It’s worth noting that the DVD is Region 1 encoded so it will not play on DVD players outside of North America.
No plans for today … I’m gonna try and get out and enjoy the sunshine. The weather is still very beautiful here in SoCal so I wanna soak it up as much as I can.
