Vicki B. <3s Deadly Footwear

Yikes!
Saturday, October 18th, 2008

David and Victoria Beckham spent a bizzy few days apart from one another this week as each was embroiled in various product endorsement and product launch endeavors all across Europe. You may recall that Becks was bizzy in London peddling “healthy” fish sticks to British families while Vicki B. was jetting between Germany and Spain to launch the new line of dVb Denim wear at in-store appearances. But, at last, Les Beckhams were joyfully reunited in the UK last night and were seen enjoying a lovely dinner together in Covent Garden. VB was snapped wearing Spain a pair of killer high heel stiletto shoes at her in-store appearance in Madrid this week but those shoes pale in deadly comparison to the torturous-looking things she wore on her feet last night:

Another day, another pair of mind-boggling shoes for Victoria Beckham. But the former Spice Girl looked more like either a gladiator or a Bond villain when she stepped out for dinner with husband David last night in Covent Garden. Her towering, gold, gladiator-style heels came complete with a ring of spikes, reminiscent of Russian agent Rosa Klebb in the 1963 film From Russia with Love, whose stilettos concealed deadly spikes. Victoria’s reinvention as a fashionista since her move to Los Angeles has seen her publicly parading around in a range of gravity-defying, killer heels. Earlier this month she was snapped by photographers wearing, what was believed to be, her highest heels yet while out shopping with her family. And last month she wore a £3,300 pair of bizarre heel-less, thigh-high, black latex boots to the launch of her new perfume at New York department store Macy’s.

Yeah, no question that VB has a penchant for finding and wearing some of the most interesting women’s footwear out there. I’ll say this for the Posh one, she really owns these bizarre shoes of hers. Now the hair, well, I’m not sure I’m on board with this new look. I’ve said all week that her pixie short haircut works really well for her but I’m not a fan of this overly-gelled up-do she’s going for here. But, as a stylista, she needs to change things up as much as possible so I can’t really hate on her for taking these sorts of fashion risks. And suddenly, I’m fully aware that I have been championing Victoria Beckham’s sense of style all week long. Hmmm.

Madonna & Guy Ritchie Reach Divorce Settlement

Deal or No Deal?
Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Just days after the UK newspaper The Sun broke the worldwide story that Madonna and Guy Ritchie were announcing their divorce, the British publication newly reports that the divorce deal between the couple has already been struck and will be finalized soon. Considering The Sun was absolutely correct on the initial reporting of the divorce, I’m more inclined to believe this settlement report. According to The Sun, Guy will get $20 million dollars in cash and the couple’s British properties:

GUY RITCHIE will get at least £20million in cash and properties worth many more millions in his surprise settlement with MADONNA, it emerged last night. The 40-year-old film director gets the couple’s 1,200-acre country estate and a swanky London pub. The cash is to cover their London properties — a family townhouse in Marylebone, a ten-bedroom property next door and two mews cottages each. The total value will be around $60million — enough for Guy to walk away satisfied … Guy will also be happy to get the couple’s Punch Bowl pub in Mayfair and the Ashcombe House estate in Berwick St John, Wilts. Madonna, 50, on tour in the US, keeps her New York and Los Angeles homes without having to delve deep into her estimated £300million fortune. A source close to the couple told The Sun last night: “The negotiations were relatively painless. Guy knew what he wanted and Madonna knew what she was keen to keep. There was a spell when Guy was in a mood to dig his heels in, but he decided this arrangement seemed reasonable and a long battle over money would make life unbearable.” Madonna is being represented by famous divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton, who played a pivotal role in protecting SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY’s fortune from his ex-wife Heather Mills this year. Shackleton negotiated with Guy’s lawyers in a day of frantic phone calls. They are expected to reach a compromise over their kids — Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and David Banda, three … Meanwhile, we can reveal that Madonna went to New York in August to ask best pal GWYNETH PALTROW for advice on whether to save her marriage or get a divorce. She told actress Gwyneth she was considering staying with Guy because she is “terrified of being alone”. The source said: “They decided it would make sense to end the marriage before it became even more painful.”

As sad as I am to learn of Maddy’s divorce from Guy, this report of a quick and quiet settlement does not surprise me in the least. I absolutely contend that the couple will remain cordial and friendly thruout these divorce proceedings and everything from the money to the kids will be decided upon quickly and to each person’s satisfaction. Sad to say, in retrospect, I guess I can see how trouble may have been brewing between the two of them over the past months and mebbe years. I never expected this split to get ugly and it looks like it won’t. This may end up being the quietest, most friendly celeb divorce ever.
