Who’s That Guy In The ‘Womanizer’ Video?

Last night, Britney Spears‘s new music video for Womanizer debuted to much fanfare and has been greeted with high praise from pretty much everyone who has seen it. Many folks (including myself) have been taken by the insanely hawt dude that is featured as the “womanizer” in the video … which led to a little investigation …

… his name is Brandon Stoughton and he is a model represented by the LA Models agency. He has been featured in campaigns for Calvin Klein and was even photographed by my friends Steph & Alek for their blog OhLaLaMag.com. Here are a few of Brandon‘s hot pics:

Wooooot! He is really one hot dude, yes? I wouldn’t mind seeing more of him, that’s for sure ;) And since we’re on the subject of his hawt performance in Britney‘s new music video, why don’t we take another look at Womanizer. After the jump, check out the video in full …

Prince Celebrates The Release Of His New Book

Prince was on hand at the Gansvoort Hotel in the Meat Packing District of NYC last night to play a celebratory concert for the release of his new coffee table book of photography/poetry/music/lyrics titled 21 Nights. 21 Nights features photography work by Randee St. Nicholas of Prince from his twenty one night residency at the O2 Arena in London, England last year. The book was released in bookstores last Tuesday (I already have my copy) and comes with an audio CD titled Indigo Nights/Live Sessions. Here are a few pics from Prince‘s performance last night:

Prince is always lookin’ for a reason to get his jam on and last night was no exception. I’ve been very fortunate to see the man in action at one of these scaled down, more intimate gigs and let me tell you, he turns the mother out. Now, about this book … I must confess that I am a bit disappointed with the photographic theme of the book. Some of the photos are amazing … but there are far too few of them. Some of the pics are of hotel hallways and empty Metro stations. I get that St. Nicholas is trying to tell a story with these photos (isolation, loneliness, etc.) but I was really hopin’ there’d be nothing but Prince within in the pages of this book. The CD is hot. It’s almost worth the price of the book itself. Die hard Prince fans (and completists) will not want to miss picking up this book. I don’t think, tho, that casual fans will be happy with it. I suggest you head on down to your local Barnes and Noble to look at the book before you buy it. I’m happy with my copy and am anxious to see the man live, in concert again.

Founding member of Marilyn Manson dies of an apparent drug overdose
Peace Out, Gidget Gein

Sad news to report for longtime fans of the band Marilyn Manson. Original founding member Brad Stewart, whose stage name in the band was Gidget Gein, was found dead in his Burbank, CA apartment this past Thursday. He was 39 years old:

Marilyn Manson’s former bandmate Gidget Gein has been found dead, according to reports. The bass player, whose real name was Brad Stewart, played in Manson’s band from 1989 until 1993, when he was fired and replaced by Twiggy Ramirez. He went on to make music with the band Gidget Gein and the Dali Gaggers, and later as Gollywood. Stewart was found dead at his home in Burbank, Los Angeles on Thursday (October 9) after a suspected drug overdose. He was 39. However, Los Angeles County Coroners Office have said they will not issue any further information until the musician’s family have been informed of the situation.

When the band Marilyn Manson was created in 1989, the band was called Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. Each band member was given a hybrid name of a celebrity coupled with a serial killer — Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson, for example. Gidget Gein was named after the fictional 60′s TV character Gidget (played by Sally Field) and notorious American serial killer Ed Gein. I understand that Gidget Gein was kicked out of the band in 1993 after band members grew tired of his drug problems. A heroin overdose around Xmas ’93 was the last straw … he was kicked out of the band and was replaced by Jeordie White aka Twiggy Ramirez (named after the model Twiggy and serial killer Richard Ramirez). As a longtime MM fan, I am very sorry to learn that drugs turned out to be his final downfall. I never got to see MM with Gidget as part of the band but I am pretty familiar with his work with the band’s early recordings. This news is just … sad.

The TV Guide

Yesterday was a mostly quiet day for me but it wasn’t without its minor stresses. For some as-yet unknown reason, the site went down for a short while only to come back and then go down again. Thankfully the wonderful tech folks who maintain my site were able to fix the problem and get the site working properly again. I’m not really good with tech problems (well, the stresses that come from tech problems, that is) so I decided to stay home near the computer to make sure everything go sorted out. Fortunately, everything did get sorted out but I had to miss out on seeing Duffy with Darion.

Instead, I spent my evening reading The Graveyard Book on my new Kindle e-book reader and waiting for the world premiere of Britney Spears‘s new music video for Womanizer. I’m bummed I missed the concert but … all in all, it was a nice quiet night.

A wedding, some NKOTBers and some bridesmaids
PITNB Readers, 101108

Here is this week’s batch of photos sent in by Pink is the new Blog readers — Jason from Windsor, Canada (a neighbor of Detroit, MI) sends in a pic from his wedding to his partner which took place last July. Same-sex marriage is legal in Canada and Jason wanted to share his happiness with all of us — Monica (my girl from my home state of Michigan) sends in a beautiful photo with her husband Kevin that was snapped at Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, CO — Erin sends in a pic of a breast cancer tailgate fund raiser called Save Second Base and was orchestrated by her friend Dave. The event raised money for the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation (Erin walked 60 miles in 3 days to raise money) — Megan sends in a pic of her group of friends (Katie, Megan, Jamie, Kate and Tanya) in the Step By Step t-shirts that they made for the October 4 New Kids on the Block concert in Chicago, IL — Aaron sends in a pic of a group of bridesmaids at a wedding that he photographed recently — Kat sends in a pic of the two of us from Disneyland last weekend where we ran into one another near the Alice In Wonderland Tea Cups Ride — I have to give a shout-out to all the Pink readers at Southwestern Law School:

First off, much love and congrats to Jason on his nuptials. It’s heartening to know that same-sex marriage is very legal in the country of Canada … but the US is getting there, too. Since Connecticut became the third State in the US to allow same-sex marriage, we are well on our way to securing marriage equality rights for all. Thank you all so much for your amazing photos. I am always so happy to see all the happy faces on a weekly basis. Keep ‘em coming and thank you from the bottom of my heart again :) xoxo

Xtina Aguilera Takes The Family To London

A fairly bundled up Xtina Aguilera and her son Max Liron were spotted making their way thru Heathrow International Airport in London, England this weekend … here are a couple of really cute pics:

I suspect Xtina and her family (hubby Jordan Bratman is with her and Max in London) have made their way to the other side of the pond in order to do some promo work for her new single and her album Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits. Yeah, Max is a little cutie … ain’t he just a doll?

The Photo Issue
Zac Efron Does ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Magazine

Entertainment Weekly magazine just released it’s Photo Issue (on newsstands now) and decided to put pretty boy Zac Efron on the cover of the issue. With his new movie High School Musical 3 ready to hit movie theaters (the first HSM sequel to show in movie theaters rather than on television) and his aforementioned “prettiness”, it seems like an appropriate choice for the mag. Here is Zac‘s EW coverphoto and a portion of the magazine’s coverstory on him:

Most teenage heartthrobs insist that it’s actually a drag to be craved, day in and day out, by millions of underage girls. If we were to listen in on a cross-generational pinup guy support group (think: Shaun Cassidy, James Van Der Beek, the brothers Jonas), the litany of grievances would likely include the obliteration of privacy, the lack of fellowship with other dudes, and, worst of all, the assumption that they’re all a bunch of talentless knuckleheads. But Zac Efron, the current crown prince of the Tiger Beat set, takes a different approach to the experience. For him it’s not just a job, it’s an adventure. ”I’m always bobbing and weaving through alleyways trying to get to meetings, scouting out and looking outside doors and running around like Jason Bourne,” says Efron, who has emerged as a prime target of both the paparazzi and love-struck tweens ever since High School Musical became an international obsession almost three years ago. ”I’ve always loved secret agent movies, whether it be James Bond or Bourne Identity. Now I’m kind of living it” … Just weeks shy of his 21st birthday, Efron is plotting his route from teen phenom to adult actor. It’s a perilous path, littered with the failed careers of former pretty boys (anyone heard from C. Thomas Howell lately?), and Efron knows he’s got a tough hike ahead of him … Efron is plotting his escape from the teen scene by studying the winning playbooks of other young hunks who went legit. ”I would love to just sit down and talk with Leonardo DiCaprio and “Johnny Depp and pick their brains about their early careers,” Efron says, citing two recent actors who have made the leap from poster boys to Oscar contenders. ”They do it because they love it, not because they enjoy being famous. You have to have good foresight and be really careful. If you don’t adapt and learn at a very young age, you can really mess up” … As affable and easygoing as he likes to seem, Efron is also hyperaware of the precariousness of his position — and is happy to hide behind his buffed and polished Disney-trained media persona. He doesn’t swear and seems to sweat the potential fallout each time he offers an unfiltered glimpse of the smart, skeptical, archly funny guy underneath the admittedly bland facade. One minute he’s defending HSM’s whitewashing of adolescent angst, saying it’s good to present a ”why so serious” version of the high school experience. The next minute, when asked if he’s seen the current installment, he lets slip, ”I hope it’s better than the last one.” Then he panics: ”I didn’t mean that the way it sounded!’”

I mean, Zac is in a great position right now. He really does have the world at his feet. He has managed to stay out of trouble and has gathered the clout to pretty much steer his own direction. It always seems to me that if you manage to navigate the waters of a childhood star career (usually with Disney) then you manage to secure an amount of power that can really be used to your advantage. The trick is to use that power wisely. It remains to be seen if Zac will be one of the lucky ones but thus far he’s shown no sign that he might eff it all up. If he goes the Daniel Radcliffe route, then he’ll be set. Tho, it should be clarified that Radcliffe really has the acting prowess to make the transition very successfully into the adult world. I’m not sure that Zac is really up to snuff. But, he’s purdy and that will take him far … just how far is the question. After the jump, check out a bunch of photos from Zac‘s EW photospread …

The 4th Annual Respect Awards
GLSEN Knows R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Hilary Duff, Lance Bass, Jennie Garth and others were all on hand at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA last night for the 4th Annual GLSEN Respect Awards hosted by the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network. Darren Star, Disney/ABC Television and Lance Bass were the special honorees at last night’s event for their “commitment to all America’s students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression”. Here are a few pics from the red carpet last night:

It’s great to see Hilary Duff so proudly supporting this amazing organization. You may recall that earlier this week we got to see her new GLSEN produced PSA that encourages young people to Think Before You Speak in order to curb curb bullying or threatening language aimed at LGBT youth. I am such a huge supporter of the GLSEN organization. They work so tirelessly to bring together straight allies with the LGBT community in order to foster inclusiveness so that, together, they are able to work towards ending bullying and hatespeak aimed at targeted youth. The Respect Awards annually celebrate those folks who work towards that inclusiveness. I am constantly surprised and impressed with the strides that are made in acceptance and inclusiveness among different groups of people in this country. Even tho there are still those who fear and vehemently oppose the equality of all citizens, the country seems to be moving towards inclusion rather than exclusion. It’s a long process and it is slow-going at times but we are getting there. It’s just really exciting, y’all :)

The 10th Annual 'Save Lids To Save Lives' Event
Don’t Flip Your Lids, Save Them

Sheryl Crow was the musical performer at Yoplait‘s 10th Annual Save Lids To Save Lives event at the Wiltern Theater here in LA last night and was joined by various celebs, including David Arquette and the Sex and the City ladies Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. Here are a few pics from the event’s red carpet last night:

For the past decade, Yoplait has urged its customers to save the pink lids found on their yogurt bottles and send them back into the company who, in turn, converts those lids into a financial donation to breast cancer research. For each lid that they receive between September 1 and December 1, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure through their Save Lids to Save Lives program. This is an amazing campaign that really shows that the company puts forth a great effort to encourage people to donate to breast cancer research. Last night’s event was a celebration of this campaign and hopefully inspires more people to save those lids and to send them in. You can click HERE for more information on the program.
