Who’s That Guy In The ‘Womanizer’ Video?

Boy, don't try to front ... I - I know just, just what you are, are, are
Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Last night, Britney Spears’s new music video for Womanizer debuted to much fanfare and has been greeted with high praise from pretty much everyone who has seen it. Many folks (including myself) have been taken by the insanely hawt dude that is featured as the “womanizer” in the video … which led to a little investigation …

… his name is Brandon Stoughton and he is a model represented by the LA Models agency. He has been featured in campaigns for Calvin Klein and was even photographed by my friends Steph & Alek for their blog OhLaLaMag.com. Here are a few of Brandon’s hot pics:

Wooooot! He is really one hot dude, yes? I wouldn’t mind seeing more of him, that’s for sure ;) And since we’re on the subject of his hawt performance in Britney’s new music video, why don’t we take another look at Womanizer. After the jump, check out the video in full …

Prince Celebrates The Release Of His New Book

2 Funky 4 U
Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Prince was on hand at the Gansvoort Hotel in the Meat Packing District of NYC last night to play a celebratory concert for the release of his new coffee table book of photography/poetry/music/lyrics titled 21 Nights. 21 Nights features photography work by Randee St. Nicholas of Prince from his twenty one night residency at the O2 Arena in London, England last year. The book was released in bookstores last Tuesday (I already have my copy) and comes with an audio CD titled Indigo Nights/Live Sessions. Here are a few pics from Prince’s performance last night:

Prince is always lookin’ for a reason to get his jam on and last night was no exception. I’ve been very fortunate to see the man in action at one of these scaled down, more intimate gigs and let me tell you, he turns the mother out. Now, about this book … I must confess that I am a bit disappointed with the photographic theme of the book. Some of the photos are amazing … but there are far too few of them. Some of the pics are of hotel hallways and empty Metro stations. I get that St. Nicholas is trying to tell a story with these photos (isolation, loneliness, etc.) but I was really hopin’ there’d be nothing but Prince within in the pages of this book. The CD is hot. It’s almost worth the price of the book itself. Die hard Prince fans (and completists) will not want to miss picking up this book. I don’t think, tho, that casual fans will be happy with it. I suggest you head on down to your local Barnes and Noble to look at the book before you buy it. I’m happy with my copy and am anxious to see the man live, in concert again.

Peace Out, Gidget Gein

Founding member of Marilyn Manson dies of an apparent drug overdose
Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Sad news to report for longtime fans of the band Marilyn Manson. Original founding member Brad Stewart, whose stage name in the band was Gidget Gein, was found dead in his Burbank, CA apartment this past Thursday. He was 39 years old:

Marilyn Manson’s former bandmate Gidget Gein has been found dead, according to reports. The bass player, whose real name was Brad Stewart, played in Manson’s band from 1989 until 1993, when he was fired and replaced by Twiggy Ramirez. He went on to make music with the band Gidget Gein and the Dali Gaggers, and later as Gollywood. Stewart was found dead at his home in Burbank, Los Angeles on Thursday (October 9) after a suspected drug overdose. He was 39. However, Los Angeles County Coroners Office have said they will not issue any further information until the musician’s family have been informed of the situation.

When the band Marilyn Manson was created in 1989, the band was called Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. Each band member was given a hybrid name of a celebrity coupled with a serial killer — Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson, for example. Gidget Gein was named after the fictional 60’s TV character Gidget (played by Sally Field) and notorious American serial killer Ed Gein. I understand that Gidget Gein was kicked out of the band in 1993 after band members grew tired of his drug problems. A heroin overdose around Xmas ‘93 was the last straw … he was kicked out of the band and was replaced by Jeordie White aka Twiggy Ramirez (named after the model Twiggy and serial killer Richard Ramirez). As a longtime MM fan, I am very sorry to learn that drugs turned out to be his final downfall. I never got to see MM with Gidget as part of the band but I am pretty familiar with his work with the band’s early recordings. This news is just … sad.

Curling Up With A Good Electronic Literature Device

The TV Guide
Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Yesterday was a mostly quiet day for me but it wasn’t without its minor stresses. For some as-yet unknown reason, the site went down for a short while only to come back and then go down again. Thankfully the wonderful tech folks who maintain my site were able to fix the problem and get the site working properly again. I’m not really good with tech problems (well, the stresses that come from tech problems, that is) so I decided to stay home near the computer to make sure everything go sorted out. Fortunately, everything did get sorted out but I had to miss out on seeing Duffy with Darion.

Instead, I spent my evening reading The Graveyard Book on my new Kindle e-book reader and waiting for the world premiere of Britney Spears’s new music video for Womanizer. I’m bummed I missed the concert but … all in all, it was a nice quiet night.

A wedding, some NKOTBers and some bridesmaids
Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Here is this week’s batch of photos sent in by Pink is the new Blog readers — Jason from Windsor, Canada (a neighbor of Detroit, MI) sends in a pic from his wedding to his partner which took place last July. Same-sex marriage is legal in Canada and Jason wanted to share his happiness with all of us — Monica (my girl from my home state of Michigan) sends in a beautiful photo with her husband Kevin that was snapped at Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, CO — Erin sends in a pic of a breast cancer tailgate fund raiser called Save Second Base and was orchestrated by her friend Dave. The event raised money for the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation (Erin walked 60 miles in 3 days to raise money) — Megan sends in a pic of her group of friends (Katie, Megan, Jamie, Kate and Tanya) in the Step By Step t-shirts that they made for the October 4 New Kids on the Block concert in Chicago, IL — Aaron sends in a pic of a group of bridesmaids at a wedding that he photographed recently — Kat sends in a pic of the two of us from Disneyland last weekend where we ran into one another near the Alice In Wonderland Tea Cups Ride — I have to give a shout-out to all the Pink readers at Southwestern Law School:

First off, much love and congrats to Jason on his nuptials. It’s heartening to know that same-sex marriage is very legal in the country of Canada … but the US is getting there, too. Since Connecticut became the third State in the US to allow same-sex marriage, we are well on our way to securing marriage equality rights for all. Thank you all so much for your amazing photos. I am always so happy to see all the happy faces on a weekly basis. Keep ‘em coming and thank you from the bottom of my heart again :) xoxo

Xtina Aguilera Takes The Family To London

Cheerio, bitches!
Saturday, October 11th, 2008

A fairly bundled up Xtina Aguilera and her son Max Liron were spotted making their way thru Heathrow International Airport in London, England this weekend … here are a couple of really cute pics:

I suspect Xtina and her family (hubby Jordan Bratman is with her and Max in London) have made their way to the other side of the pond in order to do some promo work for her new single and her album Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits. Yeah, Max is a little cutie … ain’t he just a doll?
