Mario Lopez won’t turn 35 years old until October 10 but that didn’t stop him from getting the birthday party started a bit early at The Bank nightclub inside the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV last night. Flanked by a bevvy of blonde beauties, Lopez‘s entourage of all guys, including brothers and cousins, took over a corner table in the VIP section and partied till the wee hours of the morning. I understand that shortly after midnight the DJ stopped spinning long enough to lead the packed club in singing Happy Birthday to the party boy as a flock of beauties presented Mario with a cake complete with sparklers (tho why “after midnight” I’m not entirely sure as his birthday is still days away). Mario was spied making out with a few ladies last night, so obvs he was partying as if it really was his birthday ;) After the pretty hawt shirtless pics of Mario Lopez that we got to see earlier this week, I think the least we can do is wish the man a happy pre-birthday!

Shock jock Howard Stern took his second stroll down the aisle in NYC yesterday when he married his longtime girlfriend Beth Ostrosky in a private wedding ceremony attended by close friends. The couple announced their engagement on Valentine’s Day back in February of 2007 and then earlier this year decided to change the wedding site from the Hamptons in NY to Manhattan. Howard Stern and his longtime girlfriend Beth Ostrosky were married in New York City on Friday night, according to guests who attended the celebration. The guest list for the wedding, held at the restaurant Le Cirque, included Joan Rivers, Barbara Walters, Billy Joel and wife Katie Lee, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman and Stern’s radio co-host, Robin Quivers. Stern, 54, and Ostrosky, 36, were joined in a ceremony officiated by Mark Consuelos, the husband of Kelly Ripa, who also attended. Billy Joel sang two songs, and Chevy Chase delivered a raunchy roast, said one guest. “Beth is the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen,” said Stern pal Dominic Barbara. (Ostrosky wore Marchesa.) “The vows were from each others’ hearts. It was gentle and soft and beautiful. People were crying.” After 11 p.m., Joan Rivers walked out holding a bouquet of cream roses. “I danced with Howard,” she said. “The wedding was fabulous, everyone had a great, great time” … This is the first marriage for Ostrosky and the second for Stern.

It’s funny to think about Howard Stern being sweet and romantic enough to woo a lady into falling in love with him but, as they say, every person has a perfect match … hopefully for both Stern and Ostrosky, this match is right one. I am not really much of a fan of Stern‘s but I suppose congratulations are in order. Beth Ostrosky strikes me as a nice lady and I wish them all the happiness in the world together.

Nothing very exciting to report on the personal front … I spent all of yesterday ensconced inside my apartment doing everything but cleaning up the mess I’ve made over the past week. I managed to “tidy” things up a bit but, meh, I just didn’t want to deal. I opted out of going out and instead decided to start watching He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Season One on DVD:

I’ve had the entire He-Man series on DVD for months but haven’t gotten around to watching them. I was a big fan of the series when I was little and watching the eps brought back a lot of fond memories. I distinctly remember when the show aired on TV in the early ’80′s … I would make it a point to be home promptly after school so that I could watch He-Man, Thundercats, G.I. Joe and other cartoons. I think it’s a bit sad that kids these days don’t have the same sorts of cartoon programming to watch. Kids TV these days is focused more on live-action programming (Hannah Montana, iCarly, etc.). The same goes for the toys … kids these days don’t necessarily want action figures, they’re all about iPods and cell phones. HMMM, I’m starting to sound like an old person ;) I must admit, I really cherish my fond childhood memories and watching these DVDs last night (and this morning) was a nice treat.

This afternoon, I need to get my butt down to Anaheim so partake of Gay Days at Disneyland. My friends Michael, Darion and Loy are prolly there already … we’re staying the night in Anaheim so that we can get in some Disney fun tomorrow as well. Should be fun :)

Pink reader Fanny gave me the head’s up that one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman, has embarked on a 9-city book tour where he is reading one full chapter of his new kids book The Graveyard Book in each city. Each in-person reading is being videoed for posting online so that everyone can get in on the fun:

Not only is he a master writer and storyteller but his ability to connect with his fans is unsurpassed. This is absolutely a wonderful way for everyone unable to see him on this brief tour to partake of the fun. I understand that Neil, at his Seattle, WA stop last night, also read aloud his poem Blueberry Girl which was written for the birth of Tori Amos‘s daughter Natashya Lórien (who was born on September 5, 2000). Tori fans know that Neil wrote this poem/prayer for her unborn daughter and it has never been released to the public (tho, it’s been reported that it will eventually be available for sale to raise funds for the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN). I would DIE if I ever got to hear Neil read that poem aloud. I am planning on attending Neil‘s LA stop on this book tour on Monday night, so mebbe I’ll run into any of you Gaiman fans who are able to make it out for the event. I’ve yet to pick up my copy of The Graveyard Book because I’m waiting to purchase my copy at the upcoming book reading. Those of you who are unfamiliar with Gaiman‘s work should really seek him out … he’s really one of my fave contemporary authors. If you’re lookin’ for suggestions, shoot me an email ;)

Nicole Kidman is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Elle magazine. You may recall that we finally got our first look at Nicole‘s newborn daughter Sunday Rose earlier this week and while Sunday was lookin’ absolutely precious, Nicole — in her all black outfit — was not. Fortunately she looks much hotter in her new Elle magazine spread. Additionally, Marc Malkin of E! is reporting that Nicole is going to be honored by a true Hollywood legend at the upcoming Women in Hollywood Tribute event which is hosted by, you guessed it, Elle magazine. Nicole Kidman’s night at Elle magazine’s Women in Hollywood Tribute will be legendary—literally. None other than silver-screen legend Shirley MacLaine will be presenting Kidman with her award at the upcoming VIP gala. The 15th annual festivities taking place Oct. 6 in Beverly Hills will honor eight of the movie business’ most powerful and celebrated women. Along with MacLaine, I’ve also learned that Courteney Cox will present to Isla Fisher, while Mía Maestro will do the same for her best friend, Salma Hayek. Jane Fonda’s tribute will come from Kerry Washington, her costar from the New York City reading of Eve Ensler’s play Necessary Targets. The event’s host will be E!’s very own funnylady, Chelsea Handler. Also being honored are Halle Berry, Sigourney Weaver, Anne Hathaway and Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke. Their presenters have not been announced.

Angelina Jolie, who temporarily relocated her entire family to NYC earlier this week ahead of the New York Film Festival, made her first public appearance since giving birth to her twins (who were born on July 12) last night as she stepped out (sans family) to have dinner with Clint Eastwood (who directed her new movie Changeling) at Il Buco. Shrouded in one of her famous trench coats (mostly likely by St. John), Angelina looked divine as she made her way into and out of the restaurant:

Changeling will premiere at the New York Film Festival this week and is said to be Ange‘s attempt at Oscar glory. Having seen the movie trailer myself, I’m not entirely sure if the film is really up to par. Darion and I saw the trailer ahead of seeing Eagle Eye last weekend and I remember thinking it looked an awful lot like a Lifetime made-for-TV movie. In any event, it looks like post-baby rest time is over and Angelina is back to work. As I said, I think she looks great … even if the trench is a bit concealing. I’m sure she’ll be rocking something more revealing on the red carpet this week.

13 years TO THE DAY that OJ Simpson was found not guilty of the murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman back on October 3, 1995, a jury in Las Vegas, NV found Simpson guilty on 12 counts of armed robbery late last night stemming from a botched sports memorabilia heist in late 2007. Simpson‘s alleged conspirator in the robbery attempt, Clarence “C.J.” Stewart, was also found guilty on all charges … the men now face life imprisonment for these crimes. OJ Simpson, meet karma:

Former gridiron great O.J. Simpson was found guilty Friday of all 12 counts in the armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas, Nevada, casino hotel last year. Simpson, 61, and his co-defendant Clarence “C.J.” Stewart, 54, were charged with a dozen offenses stemming from the sports memorabilia heist. Stewart was found guilty of the same charges as Simpson. Simpson sat quietly and showed little emotion at the defense table as courtroom clerk Sandra Jeter read the verdicts. After the verdicts were read, deputies immediately handcuffed Simpson and led him out of the courtroom. Simpson and Stewart were charged with 12 counts, including conspiracy to commit a crime, robbery, assault and kidnapping with a deadly weapon … Simpson and Stewart could spend the rest of their lives in prison for these convictions. Clark County District Judge Jackie Glass set sentencing for December 5 … The jury of nine men and three women, none of them African-American, reached its verdict after 13 hours of deliberations Friday. Jurors heard from 22 witnesses over 12 days of testimony. Chief among the witnesses were seven of the nine people inside Room 1203 of the Palace Station Hotel and Casino for the September 13, 2007, confrontation … Prosecutors alleged that the men, led by Simpson, burst into the room, flashed a gun and threatened memorabilia dealers Bruce Fromong and Al Beardsley. The men then filled two pillowcases with Simpson trinkets, signed Pete Rose baseballs and Joe Montana lithographs. Simpson’s defense attorneys maintained their client was merely trying to retrieve personal photographs and other mementos that belonged to him. Neither Simpson nor Stewart testified during the trial. Instead, their attorneys savaged the motives of the other witnesses. Galanter said Simpson was a target of investigators from the very beginning. The case “has taken on a life of its own because of Mr. Simpson’s involvement,” he added. “Every cooperator, every person who had a gun, every person who had an ulterior motive, every person who signed a book deal, every person who got paid money, the police, the district attorney’s office is only interested in one thing: Mr. Simpson,” Galanter said … The most compelling evidence for all sides came from the audiotapes. For the prosecution, conversations taped by collectibles middleman Thomas Riccio took jurors from the poolside planning to the profanity-laced hotel room confrontation.

I’m not even going to go into my personal beliefs about OJ Simpson. I absolutely remember his trial back in 1995 and his horribly smug attitude afterward. I kinda had a suspicion that the man would end up getting into trouble again … and here he is, a man convicted on 12 counts of armed robbery, facing life in prison. Things tend to work out the way they’re supposed to … I really believe that. Whether or not Simpson gets sentenced to a life behind bars come December 5, I believe he will finally be punished according to his crimes … and it’s long overdue.
