The Project Runway Season 5 Finale Fashion Show took place in Bryant Park this morning to close out New York Fashion Week and Heidi Klum made a stunning announcement at the start of the show. Apparently, due to a foot injury, the celebrity guest judge (whose identity we found out HERE) for this season’s Finale Fashion Show had to pull out of doing their duties:

As y’all know from THIS post, Jennifer Lopez was reported to be the celeb guest judge for today’s Finale Show but apparently had to pull out and be replaced by the amazing and dependable go-to guy Tim Gunn:
Jennifer Lopez has said “auf Wiedersehen” to Project Runway. After agreeing to judge the Bravo hit’s upcoming finale, she has dropped out due to a foot injury, Heidi Klum announced at Friday’s Project Runway fashion show in New York City. Mentor Tim Gunn will fill in and vowed to be unbiased.
Boo! As if this last Bravo season of Project Runway needed another nail in its coffin, this has to go and happen. I smell a rat. I mean, how bad can J. Lo‘s injury be if she was out partying all night last night? She don’t need to stand in order to judge a runway show. Seems shady to me … mebbe, perhaps, Lifetime had Tonya Harding whack her in the ankle with a metal pipe to sabotage the Finale Show taping? In any event, I fully trust that Tim Gunn will do an impeccable job judging … this, I believe, will be the first time he has ever acted as judge rather than mentor. He will, no doubt, bring a very unique voice to the final judging as he is the only person from Project Runway to see the collections as they were being created in the past few weeks. Interesting. He’ll do an amazing job, I have no doubt.
BTW: I do not know for sure who the finalists are … and I’m gonna do my best to stay unspoiled as long as possible, please refrain from talking about who showed at Bryant Park this week if you choose to comment below. Thanks :)
UPDATE: OK! magazine reports that J. Lo‘s trainer is denying that she suffered a food injury:
At the opening of the Project Runway finalists’ show in Bryant Park during Fashion Week in NYC Friday morning, Heidi Klum announced that the much buzzed about appearance by Jennifer Lopez as a guest judge on the season finale will not be happening. “Jennifer Lopez was going to be our guest judge, [but she] cancelled yesterday due to a foot injury,” Heidi told the audience. Despite Heidi’s comments, Gunnar Petersen, Jennifer’s trainer, denies any mishap, telling OK! “No injuries, all good.”
HMMMMM. Shady, shady … I wonder if we’ll actually find out what the real deal is. It’s cool, Tim rules … holla atcha boy!

talks about a “former B list pop singer and now sometimes actress who used to be a mainstay at fashion shows around the world” being missing because she’s in rehab. i cant really see j.lo in rehab (unless it’s some sort of post-partum depression thing) but it IS food for thought. some people thought it might be mandy moore.

i think bravo is totally sabotaging PR this season – they’re not even keeping the guest judges a secret! revealing the challenges/eps before they happen! they’re begging us to be bored. and i don’t blame them. lifetime won’t be the same :(
La Diva probably got up with a hangover. I feel that it’s just like her to pull a move like this. Perhaps Bravo didn’t grant her usual long list of backstage demands such as an all white dressing suite… I’m just sayin’

Shame on J. Lo!! I read today that she is still going to be in a marathon to raise money for some charity…….uh, hello………FOOT INJURY……how can you then justify a marathon?!?! Something is so not right about this!! But I love Tim Gunn……..so too bad so sad for J. Lo………bleh!
Ok, I have to say that after being at the PR finale show this morning (no spoilers, don’t worry) seeing Tim Gunn walk out onto the runway and accepting the position of guest judge was one of the most incredible and emotional moments I’ve ever seen on Runway. To see Gunn standing next to Klum on that runway was a tribute to the city that so graciously welcomed a concept that over five drama-laden seasons have changed the way Americans access fashion. Hat’s off to the producers (ahem, and Klum) for selecting this legendary icon, as we New Yorkers pay our respects, shed our tears, and say our good-byes to Project Runway.
Maybe because JLo doesn’t know what she’s talking about when it comes to fashion? She looks good all the time because of her stylists! She didn’t want to look stupid. PLUS, she can’t really make a decision on her own. She doesn’t want others to be angry with her, so how can she decide who would win a big time designing contract? She knows she’s not worthy.
Don’t hate. I envy La Lopez’s wardrobe, but I don’t buy her as this big time multitasker. Sorry.
LOVE that Tim is going to be the final judge!! And, I hope I get to hear him refer to someone’s design as “a sad sack” one more time before this season is over. Holler atcher boy, Tim!
good! i love that Tim is the guest judge. Its always been his and Michael Kors that know the real fashion!!!!!!!!! and have good taste. (love Heidi as well…. shes the best)
And I’m also glad that that i won’t have to listen to fake as j.HO fat ass all through the episode!!!!!!! she don’t know nothing about real fashion,…. she’s just a droid!
