‘Project Runway’: Designing For A True Fashion Icon
ATTENTION: "PROJECT RUNWAY" SPOILER ALERT WARNING

Last night’s episode of Project Runway really turned it out, I think. As we learned in the preview shown at the end of last week’s ep, the designers were challenged to design a look for a bona fide fashion icon — the amazing Diane von Furstenberg:

While PR usually does a great job bringing out the cool celebs for guest judging, they sometimes also inject a real moniker of actual fashion genius … having an ep devoted to a challenge where the contestants had to design a look worthy of Diane von Furstenberg‘s own collection was pretty remarkable to me. After the jump, find out who was in, who was out and who stepped up to prove that they are worthy to work with the likes of DmuthaeffinVF in the episode titled Double O Fashion

THANK JEBUS ABOVE! STELLA FINALLY GOT THE AXE! I just knew that her time would run out eventually and, to be honest, she lasted a lot longer than I thought she would. Personally, I think she managed to fly under the radar for far too long … only proving that there were actually worse designers than her on the show — a scary thought ;) LeAnne won her second challenge in a row … she has also been flying under the radar but in a good way. There is no way to deny her talent now:

You knew from the start that Stella was dunzo … they showed too much of her early on and when it was revealed that they would be working for DVF, well, I knew that Ms. Diane was gonna put an end to Stella‘s PR career. In the end, tho, she went out on her own terms … she created a look that was deffo Stella (a very vampiricly scary look, I might add) and she shouldn’t be ashamed that she got cut. In full leather gear, Stella went out with guns blazing … props to her. It pains me to admit that crazy Blayne did a great job … I kinda liked his outfit, in fact, I had a hard time deciding between his look and Korto‘s look as my fave. He may be out of his mind, he may be in love with Mary-Kate Olsen but he managed to put together a pretty cool look in last night’s ep. Dare I say that Suede has run out of steam? He may have won early on but his work has been going down the tubes in the last few eps … he may be the next to go I think. I love Kenley, her crying was kinda cute but she really didn’t rise to the challenge. Her print dress was very nice … but not enough. She did manage to sell the design in the judging process … she was able to shut Heidi‘s comments up and get the support of DVF — props to her. Joe, my boy Joe … this was BY FAR his ugliest design. I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come … cuz I would love for a Korto, LeAnne, Joe showdown at Bryant Park. I’m saying it now — for the record — I think Korto and LeAnne will make it to the finals … whether Joe will fill the final slot remains to be seen but I really believe my girls are gonna go all the way.

I can’t believe it, I’m actually excited about this new season … and it only took 8 eps for me to get there. Huh. So … what do y’all think?

PS: I’m looking forward to Nina Garcia‘s return next week … I’m not sure I can take more of the Ninalessness ;)

I just started watching it last week and I am a huge fan. I even bought season 2 because Im such a huge Santino fan. But yeah, it took me 7 episodes of weeding out the loosers to see some real potential with a select few. Now I will be watching! I cannot wait until next week ot see my 3 faves Daniel V., Jay & Christian!!
