ATTENTION: 'THE HILLS' SPOILER ALERT WARNING
‘The Hills’: In The Dumps

Welp … it looks like Lauren LC Conrad‘s curse with the mens continues as another one of her romantic interests got thrown to the curb in last night’s new ep of The Hills:

Last night’s ep was partially about LC breaking off her very brief romance with new castmember Doug Reinhardt but it was also partially about laying some groundwork for Whitney Port‘s new spin-off TV series which is to be set in NYC when it eventually debuts … oh yeah, there was also some partial hawt half-nudity in last night’s ep, which was a nice addition cuz, honestly, it was the only thing that kept me awake long enough to watch the entire show. After the jump, find out out all the deets (and take another look at the insanely hawt male model that flashed on the screen for about 10 secs.) from last night’s ep titled Better Off As Friends

Look like an old married couple already :)
Ellen & Portia DeGeneres-de Rossi Hit The Beach

Here are a few pics of newlyweds Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi out for a nice stroll along the beach together in Malibu, CA over the weekend lookin’ as if they’ve been married for 50 years already (Ellen‘s hat doesn’t help). The couple, which strolled hand-in-hand, happened to come upon dad Gavin Rossdale and his firstborn son Kingston James (who were also spending the afternoon together at the beach) along the way … check it out:

I swear to all things adorable, I really love Ellen and Portia together. They make such a great couple and they *always* look so happy and content when they are together. They are the perfect portrait of what love looks like. They compliment one another so well and I have a very good feeling that they are going to be together for the rest of their lives. Seeing these two find happiness together gives me hope that true love can actually exist in Hollywood. Hands down, they are one of my fave couples ever … they are truly an inspiration.

Your ROFLOL of the day
Paris Hilton Bites The Hand That Photographs Her

In what can only be described as the most ridiculous thing that I have *EVER* heard of in the entire history of my hearing things, I feel compelled to pass along this jarring bit of information gleaned from the musings of Paris Hilton. The girl who made a career out of chasing flashbulbs and doing anything and everything to garner the attention of the paparazzi for years and years has come to the conclusion that the paparazzi are “annoying” and is trying to make us believe that she is “fed up” with their presence in her life … like, seriously:

Paris Hilton is fed up with being followed by paparazzi — but has vowed to keep her cool with them. The sexy socialite and hotel heiress — who is one of the most photographed women in the world — says she is constantly taunted by shutterbugs who try and get her hot under the collar — but she always resists the temptation to lash out. She explains, “It is annoying when they are always showing up at your house. I think it is fine at like a movie premiere or an event when they are supposed to be there. But when it is every single day it just gets really tiring. There is nothing you can do about it. They want you to lash out at them so I never do. I have never done that and I never will.”

OK, I can kinda buy that even Paris Hilton is capable of growing up just a little bit and I find it feasible that she can settle down enough to maintain a fairly normal romantic relationship with Benji Madden but the mere thought of Paris Hilton shunning any attention from the paparazzi is just … madness. I mean, seriously, WTF? In actuality, Paris Hilton is probably the single pioneer of the modern paparazzi movement and the notion that she is no longer interested in their attention is … insane. I shant believe it, I vehemently refuse to believe it and I will not spend another second thinking that this could possibly be true by any stretch of the imagination. Nope.

Lunch = Lurve?
Kirsten Dunst & Justin Long Couple Up

Last week we heard that Justin Long, newly separated from Drew Barrymore, had moved on from his recent break-up to couple up with Kirsten Dunst (the couple were spied “making out hardcore” at Sunset Junction here in LA) and now the new duo have been photographed together at the Chateau Marmont engaged in a steamy act of … eating together. Cue the romantic music, we’ve got ourselves a new Hollywood couple, y’all … meet Dunst-in:

I must admit, I’m pretty surprised that Justin has moved on with Kirsten so soon after his break-up with Drew. Word on the street is that Justin was fed up with Drew‘s “excessive drinking” and that was the reason for the split … which sounds suspicious if you consider that Justin and Kirsten, sorry, Dunst-in‘s first sighting together was in a margarita line at a bar. Ah well … here’s hoping that Cupid’s arrow hit more squarely for the new lovebirds and that they find happiness together forever and ever … or, at least until the end of the year.

Shave and a haircut, two bits
Casey Aldridge Gets His Hair Did

While his babymama Jamie Lynn Spears and his newborn daughter Maddie Briann were chillin’ around McComb, MS with grandmammy Lynne Spears over the weekend, good ol’ boy Casey Aldridge was bizzy beautifying himself at the local barber shop. Here are pics of the just buzzed Casey making his way out of The Barber Shop (inventive name) over the weekend, showing off his stylist new look:

You know what, the look is simple and it works for Casey. The boy wears baseball caps about 98% of the time (which is a good thing because he doesn’t look all that great when he’s not wearing the cap). I may give the boy grief and I may have my suspicions that he might be a cad but, on the real, he seems like a regular, good ol’ kid. He works hard, appears to be sticking by his new family … I can’t imagine that it’s an easy life, no matter who his in-laws are. I’m not sure if there will be a happily every after for Casey-Lynn but, so far, he’s hangin’ in there … that has to count for something.

The littlest Spears pops up in Mississippi
It’s A Mad, Mad, Maddie Briann World

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Maddie Briann, first born daughter of teen parents Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge, out and about … and when she had been spotted in public, she’d been completely covered from sight. In fact, we’ve not been able to see Maddie‘s cute little face since her photospread in OK! magazine came out in July … but at last, here she is. Here are pics of Maddie with her mama JL and with her grandmama Lynne Spears out and about in McComb, MS over the weekend:

OK, even tho it’s pretty impossible to tell for sure, it looks to me that little Maddie is starting to look more like JL now. Her little profile really does make her look just like her mother. Casey-Lynn have been doing a pretty good job of keepin’ their newborn baby underwraps since her birth, which is a bit surprising considering that they agreed to have their weeks old baby appear in magazines sold around the world. In any event, I’m glad to see that things appear to be going well for the family. Last we heard, there was a rumor that JL had “left” Casey to live at home in Kentwood, LA with her mother Lynne Spears … seeing her back in Mississippi is an encouraging sign that things are still on track for the young family … good for them!!

Kicks off his bid for the presidency in fine Democratic style
Barack Obama Spends Labor Day In Detroit

In a Democratic tradition that goes all the way back to the campaign of Harry S. Truman, Senator Barack Obama made an appearance in Hart Plaza right in the heart of Detroit, MI to participate and speak at the Labor Day parade which took place there. Sarah, Mark and I had planned on attending this rally in Hart Plaza to see Sen. Obama speak but because of how late Sarah’s birthday party ran the night before (and because of my tight travel schedule) we were unable to attend. Here are a few pics of Obama in my hometown of Detroit yesterday morning:

Barack Obama cut short a Labor Day speech to an expectant, fired-up crowd at Detroit’s Hart Plaza, offering prayer instead of political punches to acknowledge concerns about Hurricane Gustav. “There is a time to argue politics, and there’s a time to come together as Americans,” he said in deference to distressed and evacuated gulf coast residents and a storm that threatened great damage but lost power as it slammed into Louisiana. In his first Detroit appearance as the Democratic presidential nominee, Obama surely disappointed many in the crowd — estimated at more than 20,000 in Hart Plaza and another 10,000 just outside along Jefferson Avenue — with less than 10 minutes of remarks, although people appeared forgiving. Many had waited hours in lines that snaked around buildings to see Obama after the annual Labor Day parade. U.S. Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan stirred their anticipation in speaking to the crowd before Obama arrived, comparing the event with John F. Kennedy’s Labor Day speech in Detroit during the presidential campaign of 1960. Obama apologized for his brevity and urged compassion and togetherness. He held a moment of silent prayer and asked for donations to the Red Cross. “I want all of us to remember that when we show solidarity with those folks in Louisiana and Mississippi and Texas and Alabama, that we are expressing the true spirit of the labor movement. Because the idea behind the labor movement is that you don’t walk alone, you’re not by yourself. “Each of us are vulnerable by ourselves. … But when we are unified, we come together in a more perfect union.” Still, Obama managed to serve up pro-labor sentiments, telling the crowd that he supports federal legislation that would make it easier for workers to unionize. In a lighter moment, he sang a few bars of Aretha Franklin’s “Chain of Fools,” while the singer looked on from the crowd. “I’m a labor guy, I believe in the labor movement,” Obama said. “It’s important to have a president who doesn’t choke on the word union. I believe we need a Department of Labor that believes in labor.”

Never fear y’all, I am not planning on regular political coverage, I just really wanted to go to this rally and would’ve made it downtown to Hart Plaza had Sarah’s birthday fun ended at a reasonable hour ;) After the jump, check out a short video of Sen. Obama singing Chain of Fools to the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin, who was in attendance at yesterday’s Detroit rally …

The TV Guide
Labored Day

So, because today is a travel day and I need to be on a play for the next 6 hours, I will not be able to update the site with anything gossy prolly for the rest of the day … but it is Labor Day today, the US holiday to celebrate not having to work so I guess it’s a bit apropos that I’m hindered from work today. I am on my way to the airport right now but I want to first share a few fun pics from Sarah’s birthday party that we enjoyed yesterday afternoon/evening/night/all night long:

Sarah’s birthday is this coming Thursday the 4th but she threw her party this weekend before so that I could attend. We, natch, had an absolute blast … the afternoon BBQ with the fam was really nice, the impromptu dance party in the kitchen was insane and the late night gabfest in the basement/by the firepit in the backyard was the perfect way to end the day. Quote of the night came from T-Pain by way of Nicole: “Are you the freak that I ordered?” “Oh yeaaaaah.” I had an amazing time this week, it went by so fast. I’m looking forward to unpacking my suitcase, no question, but I have to send out all my love to my friends, family and all the folks here in the Detroit area for always taking such good care of me. I’ll be back, xoxo
