'Cuz you can eat for a good cause today :)
Have You Made Your Dinner Plans Yet?

Just a friendly reminder that today is a Big Day at Chili’s restaurants around the country … all proceeds from food sales today will be donated to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital which researches and treats pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases — and ALL patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family’s ability to pay. In order for St. Jude to be able to continue to treat patients who may not be able to afford their services, they need to raise much needed funds … which is where dining at Chili’s today comes in:

This is such an easy way for folks to help raise money for such a needy cause. What better way to give back then by enjoying a fun meal at Chili’s? I, personally, am a fan of their Chicken Crispers and I tend to pair that with a frozen margarita … MMMM :)

If, instead, you’d like to take a pass on enjoying a wonderfully delicious dining experience at Chili’s today, you can click HERE to make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital directly.

So … if you’ve yet to make your dining plans for today, may I suggest you consider dining at Chili’s? I know that I’d be much obliged and I’m sure the kids at St. Jude’s would appreciate it as well ;)

Deadlines are looming
Are You Registered To ‘Rock The Vote’?

Back in May we got to see Xtina Aguilera‘s Rock the Vote PSA, which she filmed with her baby Max Liron swaddled in an American flag, and just last week we saw a few pics of Xtina at a Rock the Vote event (Max Liron-less). Today we check out the official Rock the Vote poster along with a friendly reminder that deadlines for registering to vote are coming up. Depending on which state you live in, deadlines for registering to vote are coming up as early as this week:

This election is a very important one for our country, I urge you all to click HERE to find out what the registration deadline is for your state and to click HERE to find out how to make sure you are registered to vote in November’s presidential election. If things are ever gonna change in this country, we have to take action and make sure our voices are heard so that the change we so desperately need will come. If you don’t vote, you are letting other people decide what is best for you … don’t lose your power, you have to vote.

And since we’re on the topic of Xtina and her son Max, here are a couple pics of the cute couple stepping out together this weekend … I post these pics just to show how much Max has grown since May:

He is so big … and he looks a lot like his daddy Jordy Bratman. Cute! But anyways, to get back on topic … make sure y’all get registered to vote, y’all. We can affect change in this country … but we can’t be passive and hope it comes, we have to proactive and insist that it comes … and you can’t do that if you’re not registered to vote.

Takes the kids sightseeing in Athens
Madonna’s Grecian Formula

Here are a few pics of Madonna and her children Lourdes, Rocco and David Banda enjoying an afternoon of sightseeing together in Athens, Greece (in between tour stops on Maddy‘s Sticky & Sweet World Tour) over the weekend. Daddy Guy Ritchie was not along for the little family holiday (presumably, he was bizzy promoting his new movie RockNRolla elsewhere in the world) but it looks like a fun time was had by all nonetheless … behold:

It’s nice to see that her Madgesty toweled off before hittin’ the sights with her kids, she looks pretty good in these pics … tracksuit notwithstanding. I can’t believe how much notsolittle David Banda has grown just this year already. He looks like a little kid now. It’s nice to see that Madonna is carving out some freetime for her kids as she tours the planet … it’s great to see that mommy duty still takes center stage even while she is on a world tour.

Ever wonder how they smell?
‘Do You Believe In Fairy Tales?’

Paris Hilton is at it again … here is the first promo ad for her 5th, that’s right 5th, celebrity fragrance called Fairy Dust. Now, I dunno why any one person needs to have 5 smells on the market but … here you have it, Fairy Dust by Paris Hilton:

Paris Hilton’s fifth addition to her fragrance empire, Fairy Dust, won’t be hitting stores until the middle of next month, but the reality star is giving PEOPLE an exclusive first look at the new images from her print campaign. The ads for the pink peony, orange blossom, gardenia and vanilla creme scent feature a winged, wand-wielding Paris playing a real-life fairy, and ask, “Do you believe in fairy tales?”

Not that I’ve actually smelled any of them but of Paris‘s now numerous smells, I quite like the ad campaign for this one. I must admit, I do vastly prefer the promo ad campaign for Britney Spears‘s fragrance Fantasy (which looks similar to this ad campaign), I think this is a good way for Paris to go. That Can Can thing she tried with her last fragrance didn’t do it for me. Still … can Paris Hilton pull off the innocent fairy thing? Does this ad campaign resonate with any of y’all?

Legacy?
Matilda Rose Inherits Heath Ledger’s Estate

People magazine is reporting that Matilda Rose, the only child of the late Heath Ledger, will be the sole heir of Ledger‘s estate … which has been determined by Ledger‘s next of kin. While I find this wholly appropriate, I cannot help but think on this as a sad, bittersweet development in Matilda‘s very young life. There is a snag, tho … TMZ is reporting that the life insurance company that insured Ledger‘s policy is opening their own investigation into his death to determine if he died by accident or by suicide … if suicide, they will not have to pay out the premium. Blah. What a sad, gross scenario this whole thing has become. Here are a few really supercute pics of Matila out for a stroll on the streets of NYC this weekend, lookin’ as cute as can be … thankfully, she’s too young yet to know what any of this stuff means:

Heath Ledger’s family has decided to donate his entire estate to the late actor’s daughter, Matilda Rose. Two years before his little girl was born, the Dark Knight star – who died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in January – signed a will leaving his fortune to his parents and sisters. But Ledger’s father, Kim, says they have decided that all the money should all go to 2-year-old Matilda (the actor’s daughter with ex-girlfriend Michelle Williams). In fact, he tells PEOPLE, that was the plan “from the moment my boy passed away.” “There was never any question about the fact that Heath’s estate would go to Matilda,” he says, confirming a report in Australia’s Sunday Times. “Never a question. We are very close to Michelle and Matilda” … Although some reports have valued Ledger’s assets at up to $20 million, Adelaide accountant Mark Dyson – an executor of the actor’s estate – has refused to state the amount Matilda will inherit.

It’s unclear if the premium to be paid from Ledger‘s life insurance policy is included in his estate … which could significantly affect Matilda‘s inheritance:

The company that wrote Heath Ledger’s $10 million life insurance policy is being sued after claiming the actor’s death might have been a suicide, even though officials concluded it was accidental. Lawyers for Ledger’s daughter say it’s a transparent ploy to avoid paying the money. ReliaStar Life Insurance Company wrote the policy in June 2007 — six months before Ledger died. The beneficiary of the policy is a trustee who would hold the money for 2-year-old Matilda. Instead of paying the $10 mil, ReliaStar set out to investigate whether Ledger took his own life, despite the fact that the New York City Medical Examiner ruled the death accidental. TMZ has obtained a lawsuit, filed by Matilda’s trustee, claiming ReliaStar (owned by ING Americas) has acted in bad faith by not promptly paying the $10 million and by wrongfully prying into the life of Heath Ledger after his death. Sources say lawyers for the insurance company have claimed Ledger’s death was “suspicious” — possibly suicide, which would nullify the policy. The company alleges in its answer to the lawsuit, “ReliaStar is entitled to investigate Plaintiff’s claim to determine if the ‘Suicide’ provision is applicable.” That provision states, “If the Insured commits suicide … we will pay only the amount of premiums paid to us.” ReliaStar’s lawyers have informed Matilda’s lawyers they intend to take the depositions of Mary-Kate Olsen, as well as the masseuse who was at Ledger’s home when he died, Ledger’s colleagues on his last film, his agents, doctors, psychologists and others. Lawyers for Matilda believe the insurance company is trying to scare and shame them into submission. They believe ReliaStar is trying to drag the process out, for what could be years, to avoid paying the money. We’re also told ReliaStar believes Ledger may have lied on two questions on his insurance application — specifically, whether he was taking prescription drugs when he filled out the application and whether he ever used illegal drugs. In its answer to the lawsuit, ReliaStar claims it can contest the policy if Ledger lied on the application and it was a “material misrepresentation.” Sources tell us Ledger had a prescription for Ambien when he filled out the application, but Ambien was not in his system when he died, nor were any illegal drugs. Lawyers for Matilda’s trust claim ReliaStar is flagrantly violating California law, which prohibits insurance companies from re-examining insurance applications after the policyholder dies. In the lawsuit, Matilda’s lawyers say they received a letter from ReliaStar, asking them to identify “all physicians who attended to [Ledger] and all hospitals or institutions where [he] was treated since 1996.” Matilda’s lawyers say the request blatantly violates the law. An official for ReliaStar told TMZ, “No decision has been made on the claim.” But lawyers for Matilda’s trust believe ReliaStar should have already paid and, according to the suit, is acting “maliciously, fraudulently and/or oppressively … depriving plaintiff of the insurance policy benefits.”

I thnk it’s safe to assume any any insurance company is gonna do whatever it can to keep from paying out premiums, so this comes as no surprise. Whether or not they are able to build a case that benefits them, tho, is another question. In the end, who is the final arbiter? If ReliaStar determines that they don’t have to pay out … who has the final say? Again, I’m glad that little Matilda is too young to comprehend any of this stuff. She is such a little doll, the spitting image of her late father. My heart goes out to her because despite whatever money she may get in the end, it will never be enough to replace the absence of her father :(

But not before a lovely dinner with her kids here in SoCal
Britney Spears Makes Her Way To The Big Apple

Britney Spears caused a bit of a sensation at LAX Airport here in LA yesterday morning (as she usually does wherever she goes) as she made her way to NYC, where she arrived late last night. But before Brit Brit flied the friendly transcontinental skies, she went out for a lovely dinner with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, as well as her father Jamie Spears and small entourage on Saturday night. Here are pics of Britney and her family making their way out of Wolfgang Steak House in Beverly Hills, CA Sat. night:

It should be noted that Brit & Co. ate at the Wolfgang Steak House owned by Wolfgang Zwiener and NOT Wolfgang Puck (which you may recall has some … interesting … art on the walls). And here are a few photos of Britney‘s grand arrival at LAX Airport and then her arrival at JFK Airport in NYC:

I understand that Britney has made her way to NYC in order to take care of some biz to promote her new single Womanizer (which debuted last Friday) and album Circus (which will be released on December 2). I wouldn’t be surprised if she made her way to the East Coast to shoot a few photoshoots, mebbe film some video, possibly schmooze some record execs … you know, typical popstar stuff. I am really excited for the coming months … I understand that Womanizer will be available for sale on iTunes on October 7, giving it enough time to marinate on the radio and in cyberspace so that folks will go wild when it is finally released for sale. The track is sure to go straight to #1, I’m absolutely certain. Wee … it is so great having Britney Spears back on the scene … working! Keep it up, Britters, we are so with you.

Sooo busted!
Heather Locklear’s Arrest Caught On Film

Yesterday morning TMZ broke the news that Heather Locklear was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of driving while under the influence … this morning they provide photos of Heather‘s actual arrest — from Breathalyzer to handcuffs to mugshot — which, even if she never has to actually pay for her crimes, should be detrimental to her attempts to win custody of her daughter away from ex-hubby Richie Sambora. Click HERE to see the pics:

TMZ has obtained photos of Heather Locklear’s DUI arrest on Saturday near Santa Barbara. The actress looks somewhat dazed as she’s taken into custody. But after taking a closer look, she could have an interesting defense. A resident called authorities after allegedly seeing Locklear driving “erratically” in a parking lot. But the CHP didn’t see her driving — she had pulled over on her own accord before they got there. There are reports she was arrested for driving under the influence of prescription medication — but we’re told the tests are still being analyzed. As we posted yesterday, no alcohol was involved. The bottom line — Locklear has a lawyer with a Ty Cobb batting average, Blair Berk. Especially given that deputies apparently didn’t see her driving, look for a plea bargain and very possibly a reduced charge — e.g., reckless driving. By the way, check out the huge rock on her finger. She was apparently staying at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito with Jack Wagner.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure since the police have no evidence that Heather was actually driving while under the influence of whatever it is she may have been under the influence of, the prosecutor is going to have a tough time getting anything substantial to stick. Plea bargain looks they way to go … which is pretty much what I predicted yesterday. Also, I gotta say that I’m pretty disturbed by the photo of the police officer taking a cellphone photo of Heather getting arrested … can they actually do that? Are police officers allowed to take photos like these (which can be sold, for example) while they are on the job? Just wondering. In any event, altho Heather will prolly not have to serve any sort of real punishment for this arrest, I’m sure these photos will come back to haunt her. Is that enough to keep her clean? I guess time will eventually tell.

Those Broadway lessons are paying off
Katie Holmes Gets ‘Stone’d

You may recall that Katie Holmes was snapped shooting scenes for a guest starring stint on the Jonny Lee Miller fronted ABC series Eli Stone back in July and we can now, at last, see the result of all of her hard work. The new season of Eli Stone doesn’t debut until October 14 but I have seen the show before and, by the look of these minorly spoilery screencaps, I believe that Katie will be featured in one of the Eli Stone‘s trademark fantasy musical numbers:

Katie Holmes is bound to set pulses race with this steamy performance on an American television show. The 29-year-old showed off her sultry side as she went back to her TV roots – guest starring in Eli Stone. She had her work cut out for her – playing the role of a nonprofit attorney that required her to tap into her singing and dancing skills. But the mum-of-one appears to have taken it in her stride. In scenes reminiscent of the musical Chicago, she cut an elegant figure in skintight black with long black gloves, striking poses that showed off her shapely form. Co-star Natasha Henstridge told People magazine that the actress was “super gracious and lovely”. “And statuesque and gorgeous,” she added. And Stephen McPherson, president of ABC Entertainment, described Katie’s performance as “exquisite”. Eli Stone is a comedy-drama about a lawyer, played by British actor Jonny Lee Miller, who is suffering from an inoperable brain aneurysm that causes him to have realistic hallucinations.

Aww … it’s so great seeing Katie do fun stuff like this cuz, you know, I always fear that hubby Tom Cruise doesn’t like to let her have any sort of fun out of his sight in any capacity. It looks like she did a great job … but might there be more TV in the young actresses future? Any fun guest starring stints y’all think she should tackle?

Original or extra crispy?
ChRihanna Can’t Get Enough KFC

Here are a few photos of secret lovebirds Rihanna and Chris Brown feeding their fast food addiction at their fave restaurant Kentucky Fried Chicken. Clearly, the couple didn’t want to be spotted together but it remains unclear whether they were trying to keep their secret loveaffair from being detected or if they were just embarrassed that they got papped at KFC again:

You know what, I ain’t even gonna front … I can appreciate these two’s lurve for KFC … they got the bomb popcorn chicken and those potato wedges? MMM MMM. That’s some good stuff right there. Sometimes I’m in the mood for their mash potatoes and gravy and I dip the popcorn chicken in the gravy … yeah man, that shizz is the bomb. I actually can’t even hate on Chris and Ri Ri for spending so much time at KFC … in fact, I think I know what I’m having for lunch today. Mebbe I’ll see them there.

The TV Guide

So, I finally made it back home, safe and sound, from my recent world travels. I awoke today to a very bright and sunny day … and it’s warm, too! The last time I saw the actual sun was on our last day in Reykjavik, Iceland … cuz it was cloudy and rainy the entire time I was in NYC this week. As much as I miss my boo, I’m glad to be home again in the warm SoCal sun.

I plan on doing as little as possible for as long as I can … but tonight, I think I’m gonna make my way out to a Juliana Hatfield booksigning event at Book Soup here in LA. You may recall that I really enjoyed reading her new book When I Grow Up so I’m curious to hear her talk about it in person tonight. Later on, Darion and I are gonna try and catch a movie so … yeah, it’s really great to be home again.
