Lynne Spears‘s new book Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World won’t hit bookstores until September 16 (a date I have circled in red marker on my calendar) but we now have shocking new information (at least to me) coming out today that is said to be revealed in this book. Apparently, Lynne makes some very surprising revelations in her new book about Britney Spears‘s young life … revelations that, quite honestly, I find unbelievably sad:
Britney Spears’ mother is set to lift the lid on the troubled singer’s life – with revelations that she was drinking at 13 and lost her virginity the following year. Lynne Spears claims Britney was drinking not long after joining joined Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club, a U.S. variety television show. Mrs Spears also says her daughter lost her virginity aged 14 to an 18-year-old high school football player soon after she quit the programme. The sensational revelations were leaked to the National Enquirer ahead of the highly-anticipated publication of the memoir, called Through The Storm: A Real Tale Of Fame And Family In A Tabloid World. A source has told how Britney was dating the football star while at school, and how her mother encouraged the relationship because she thought it would make her more popular. The budding singer spent a lot of time at her boyfriend’s house and eventually lost her virginity there. Her mother later admitted she regretted allowing her to date an older boy but still allowed her to share her bedroom with new boyfriend, Justin Timberlake. Mrs Spears was said to be sure the teenagers were having sex. She did not raise any objections because she thought Britney was in love and Justin was good for her. The book also reveals that she knew Britney, then 15, was experimenting with drugs when she went to Los Angeles to record her breakthrough album ‘Baby One More Time’. She thought she was going through the typical teenage problems, but they seemed to be more than that, when the singer was allegedly caught boarding a private plane aged 16, cocaine and marijuana was found in her bag. Britney was caught by her mother drinking alcohol as young as 13 but she reportedly didn’t mind her children drinking as long as she was there. She appeared to have little control over her daughter’s party lifestyle, and by the age of 16, Britney was frequenting bars in New Orleans with her brother Bryan, who is five years older than her … A source said: “Lynne’s book does a lot of soul-searching on the mistakes she made raising Britney and Jamie Lynn. She says if she had known helping her daughter Britney follow her dreams would cost her her soul, she would never have done it.”
I am having a hard time believing that Mama Lynne would actually make these kinds of revelations in any book that she writes (or has ghostwritten for her) … to admit to being OK with her 13-year old children drinking alcohol “as long as she was there” to supervise is very surprising to me. Now, we won’t really know what the content of Lynne‘s book is until the book is actually released … I do believe the bit that her book focuses on her reflection and soul-searching over decisions she made while parenting her young celebrity daughter, tho. I am very anxious to get my hands on this book so I can read Lynne‘s words, for better or worse, for myself.

I’m sorry but I just don’t believe it. Who would say these things in a book? Especially, if you already have a bad reputation for being a bad mother. That would just be suicide.

Those are some pretty sensational claims. While I don’t have trouble believing that Britney was sleeping around and drinking as a young teenager, I doubt that Lynne would be stupid enough to admit those things in print.
After all that Lynne and Britney have been through in the past year or so, Lynne would not do this to betray Britney’s trust! Like others, I highly doubt this..
It may well be true. If it is true, the revelations may be her way of acknowledging to Britney and the public that her lack of parenting contributed to Britney’s downward spiral and Jamie-Lynn’s own adolescent struggles. Perhaps she sees it as a cautionary tale to those who choose to be their kid’s friend instead of parenting for whatever reasons.
Why would she publish something like this? You would think that if this REALLY happened, the media would have said something a lot sooner. I just don’t believe it. I think that if it did happen, the media would have jumped on it in a heartbeat because they are about everything else with celebs! I dunno, it very well may be true, but what does Justin have to say about what she said about him in the book?
I still love Britney Spears because it seems as if everyone in hollywood had a past. She’s still #1 in my book and I’ll love her no matter what and I know if this would have happened to someone like Miley Cyrus then Miley’s fans would still be behide her 100%. So I’ll stand by Britney!

I hope that this story isn’t true because if it is, it would be disgraceful on Lynne’s part. Obviously I wouldn’t judge Britney about any of the actual info, but the bigger issue would be that her own mom sold her out and leaked extremely private details of her life to sell more books. I’m sorry but I would disown my mother if she did something like that to me. I’ll hope it’s a fake story. Good grief, hasn’t this poor girl been through enough already?!
the drinking thing doenst suprise me. i grew up in a pretty well off neighbor hood and all the “best” parties i ever went to in high school, theparents were there and didnt mind us drinking as long as they were there. they “prefered” it saying “you’re going to do it anyways… i might as well be here to supervise”. i had friends whos parents let them drink wine or sip on their daddys beer at parties.. but its not like they were getting smashed at age 13. the rest is hard to swallow that a mother would write this about her daughter… we’ll see how this all pans out… im buying the book for sure
I am not going to say I believe or don’t believe her mom. I will say in Louisiana and in other southern states, it is normal for 13-18 year olds to be drinking and going out… they have drive thru liquor stores for goodness sakes!!! What else can you expect. It is a different lifestyle.
whether this is true or not, i don’t think she should reveal any of these to the public. it seems like shes selling britney for a quick buck she knows she would make because duhhh, its britney. if these are true, then ya, she really is a bad mom cause right now, i think she shouldnt be revealing any negative past of brit brit, she should just be helping her get more and more better!
What kind of a mother is she – first for allowing her child to go largely unsupervised and to drink and do drugs and second, for airing the dirty laundry for the world to see. She’s just like Dina Lohan (allowing her daughter to drink and do drugs instead of being a parent), but worse because unlike Dina (who tries to squash bad rumors about Lindsay), Lynn Spears is the one who is spreading them. Brit’s mother did say after Jamie-Lynn fell pregnant, that she was “never late for curfew”. This sounded incredibly naive and like a woman who prefers to live in a state of denial. I’m sorry – but I do think Brit and Jamie-Lynn’s parent’s are responsible for the paths of their daughter’s live’s. Britney saved her parent’s (who were bankrupt) with her first hit and if I remember correctly – the father had a drug problem. When you allow a young girl to date an older guy – lets face it – his main goal is to get in her pants.
