Kelly Taylor’s Babydaddy Revealed On ‘90210’
OMG! Please tell me that y’all watched last night’s ep of 90210. It took 4 episodes but last night we FINALLY learned the identity of Kelly Taylor’s babydaddy. Now, I realize that this is really only an OMG moment for fans of the original Beverly Hills, 90210 … but for those folks (me, included) this revelation is pretty monumental. On the premiere ep of 90210 we learned that Kelly Taylor (played by Jennie Garth) was the mother of a 4 year old little blonde boy named Sammy. In the second ep of 90210, we learned that Sammy’s father was an old high school fling who Kelly reconnected with 4 years ago — and along came Sammy. At that point, speculation ran wild as to who could be the father. The 3 main candidates were Brandon Walsh (played by Jason Priestly), Dylan McKay (played by Luke Perry) and Steve Sanders (played by Ian Ziering):

So as not to ruin the surprise for those of you who have yet to see last night’s episode (shame on you, btw) I’ll keep the revelation behind the cut. After the jump find out if Kelly Taylor’s babydaddy is Brandon Walsh (who Kelly dated quite significantly and almost married in the later seasons of BH, 90210), Dylan McKay (who Kelly fought over with Brenda Walsh all thru their high school days) or Steve Sanders (who Kelly dated before the Walshs moved to Beverly Hills, who has natural blonde hair and whose mother’s first name is Samantha) …
Cue the drum roll, please … Kelly’s babydaddy is … Dylan McKay:

I was literally on the edge of my seat thruout the entire episode. Every time Brenda Walsh (played by Shannen Doherty) came on the screen, I braced myself for the revelation (it was revealed that she would be the one to spill the beans on last night’s ep). So what the eff does this mean for the show? Will Dylan be making a cameo on 90210 some time during the season? He must! He must! He must! Here is video from last night’s ep where Brenda makes the babydaddy revelation:
I have to admit, I’m really only genuinely interested in the happenings of the Beverly Hills, 90210 alums on this show … the new kids are doing a great job (tho Shenae Grimes needs to chill on the make-up, she looks like she’s in her 30s most of the time) but it’s the old skool drama that keeps me comin’ back for more. Personally, I was really hoping that Steve Sanders would turn out to be the father … it was the choice that no one would be expecting (well, except for me) and it would’ve made for an interesting development. Ah well … Dylan’s the dad — and we know that broody Dylan never wanted to have kids so … there should be plenty of drama ahead. Yes? What did y’all think of last night’s ep?

I didn’t see the episode, but I’m SO GLAD it’s Dylan! Love him!!! I doubt Luke Perry will be making an appearance, though. :(

Hmmm…well Trent, I guess you’ve convinced me to watch the show from this point on. I wasn’t interested after seeing a few minutes of the pilot ep. However, this news is exciting to us “old timers” who grew up obsessed with all things Kelly, Brenda and Dylan. I completely agree with you – HE MUST, MUST, MUST make an appearance.
September 17th, 2008 at 6:45 am
the shipper in me wanted Dylan to be the father. But after the conversation between Brenda and Kelly in the first episode I was pretty sure the baby daddy was Brandon.
And like you, I only watch the show for the original 90210ers… I only care about Silver out of the new teens.

I think it was obvious. They are both beautiful and both had the most drama. I think it makes sense for them to have gone so far to have spawned. I’m happy for them though, even though Dylan isn’t there yet. Definitely sure drama is going to be full fledged from now on. So much could happen. Great episode :)

Boo! That’s SOOO ridiculous. They should have picked either Steve or Brandon. This ruins it for all of us who had a bit of hope that maybe Brenda and Dylan eventually got together (I admit that it was a long shot, but still).
September 17th, 2008 at 7:13 am
It was a great episode but I knew all along who the baby daddy was. Popsugar announced it on their website. The producers spilled the beans a couple of weeks before the show started. I think they were trying to get Luke Perry to join the show by making the annoucement.
September 17th, 2008 at 7:15 am
I’m sooo glad it was DYLAN. All signs were pointing to him…none of the other guys would ever leave Kelly to raise the baby herself! Only good old Dylan! lol

Luke Perry who?
my bet is he’ll be on the show after the ratings drop alittle. hopefully the producers have enough brains to know that a Dylan/Brenda/Kelly thing would blow everyone’s mind.
September 17th, 2008 at 7:44 am
The only parts of this show that are any good are the bits about the old 90210…. the rest of it blows chunks. I don’t see anyone talking about the new characters or new story lines… and why? Because it sucks.
September 17th, 2008 at 7:46 am
Well, I, too, am really only tuning in for the old 90210-ers. The only new kids are like are Silver and Dixon (sometimes). While it makes sense that Dylan would be the father, considering they left the show together…I don’t know it just feels weird. I know some are saying different, but I really don’t see Brandon, Steve, or Dylan leaving their son behind. I feel like they played the possibilites to keep people guessing and then delivered the most predictable. (If that makes sense). My vote was for Steve as it would’ve been the less obvious. Plus, Ian Ziering would be the most likely to show up again. lol But Steve wouldn’t do that to Janet and Maddie (I don’t think). As much as I’m enjoying catching up with the old gang, this is the second time I’ve been a tad disappointed in the way they’ve handled them. I was really bummed that Jackie went back to the bottle and is being such a terrible mom to Silver (much like she was to Kelly)…and now Dylan is doing what his dad did to him? Boo. I guess I am invested. ;)

I kinda figured it would be dylan, wasnt it about 4 years ago that he did an appearance on what i LikeAbout You?
September 17th, 2008 at 7:52 am
i am so totally psyched!!!! I love 90210!!! I am 36 years old and feel like I am 21 again watched. I still even call my girlfriends inbetween commercials. But now that i have a DVR it makles it even better!!!!! i LOVE LOVE LOVE 90210. ANd I love you too trenT!!!
September 17th, 2008 at 8:26 am
tammy – when he was on what i like about you…he didnt play dylan, he was just a handy man named Todd.
im not holding my breathe for him to show up on the show. they’ve been saying since day one none of the guys wanted to come on. but i wouldnt mind seeing it happen
September 17th, 2008 at 8:29 am
I didnt want to see the show at al.. that clip has me hooked now.. lol Thanks!
September 17th, 2008 at 8:37 am
I’m torn. Dylan never wanted kids, but he also had dad-related issues. So, I’m not sure how I feel about him being an absent father. Plus, I always wanted him to be with Brenda, damn it. Is it wrong that I’m still hoping that they’ll start up that triangle again? Ha.
September 17th, 2008 at 8:57 am
yay! i watched and was terrified to leave the room, even though i have tivo, for fear of missing the big moment. i was sure it wasn’t brandon cause kelly said in the first ep that the dad was someone she’d had a relationship in high school. kelly and brandon didn’t hook up until freshman year of college. in high school, brandon told kelly he thought of her as a sister. and i couldn’t imagine steve not being involved with his kid or kelly letting steve get away with being an absent dad, for that matter. now we just need to see if brenda ever got over dylan. woohoo!
September 17th, 2008 at 9:43 am
Well i thought it would be Dylan’s because i did not think Brandon would ever leave his child behind. That was not his personalty
September 17th, 2008 at 9:49 am
I have a question, I thought that Kelly couldnt have children when she was with brandon, did that somehow change? I could have just missed something along the way but if someone could answer that I would be so grateful! :) thanks!
September 17th, 2008 at 9:53 am
I always thought it was Dylan b/c when the first series ended, it made you think K&D were going to be together. Plus I don’t think Steve would have ever cheated on Janet and daughter Maddie, and like the others said, Brandon wouldn’t leave his child. I LOVE the new show, and still watch the original in Syndication..I am 30 years old and Love every second of it!!
September 17th, 2008 at 10:00 am
Boooo this show is sooo bad
September 17th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Dylan may have never wanted kids…but I was watching the episode where Brenda thought she could have been pregnant, and he was willing to step up. I find it really sad that some much has changed him that he would step up and be a man while a teenager, but not as a grown man?
September 17th, 2008 at 10:56 am
I too as hoping Dylan would not be the father. It’s just too obvious and typical. I was kind of hoping it was Brandon since I loved him and Kelly together. Ah well.
September 17th, 2008 at 11:27 am
Yes, the alum is who I watch the show for.. im a little surprised they revealed it so soon! Im not sure if I will keep watching now. hehehe. Dylan better come back atleast for an episode or two.. ya know what would be awsome.. if they did a “flashback” as to what happened between the two of them. Because when the show ended Dylan was ready to commit. I dont think Dylan would have left his child though.. not after all he went through with his dad! Hmm, maybe that is where Dylan is? In Protective custody with good old Jack McKay.
By the way, I thought about steve being the dad too.. but that would make no sense! Steve would never do that to Janet.. even if they got divorced.. kelly wouldn’t hook up with Steve… come on!
And Brandon, well Kelly and Brandon wern’t together in high school.. so it couldnt have been him either. Anyway, I’m glad its Dylan… and I really hope that means he will show up!
SO did anyone notice that Andrea’s “daughter’ Hannah, was in the first episode?!
September 17th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Is it possible that Dylan doesn’t know he’s a father? I pretty much figured it would be Dylan. Not that much of a surprise to me.
I see a lot of drama coming.
As far as the rest of the new kids, Naomi gets on my nerves, I can’t stand her acting style at all.
September 17th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
I would LOVE to see Luke Perry on TV again. I really, really, really, really, really want him to show up on 90210. Even periodically would be better than nothing. Maybe when he figures out how much we all want him he’ll give us a little something.
September 17th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
Molly,
“SO did anyone notice that Andrea’s “daughter’ Hannah, was in the first episode?!”
Sadly, yes, I caught that! :-)
September 17th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
I agree about watching it for the “alums”. That’s it for me. I dvr’d it so now I can’t wait to see it!!! Thanks for bringing back commenting Trent, I missed it from the old sight. :)
September 17th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Just an FYI: I saw Brian Austin Green on “Ellen” and she asked him about the new 90210 and if he’d ever consider making an appearance, if asked. He said something to the effect of “sure i would, if they asked me and i had the time, sure!” … then he said he hadn’t watched the new series yet but heard all the good news about it and then they went on to talk about his Terminator show.
soooo, maybe if they bring Donna back on for a few eps, they’ll bring David too!?!?!
And I knew it would be Dylan since they ended the original series with them together.
September 17th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
It had to be Dylan. Steve was happily married with a kid at the end of the original, and we all know Brandon is way to goody-goody to abandon his child! Bring on Luke Perry- I doubt he’s busy!
September 17th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
boooooooooooooooooooooooooo
September 17th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
I just find all this weird. I mean I am glad the old schoolers are on the show and all and I am by no means a Kelly/Dylan fan (I am a Brenda/Dylan and Brandon/Kelly shipper all the way) but this really does ruin the series finale of the original for the K/D fans. I mean Dylan seemed 100% committed to Kelly in the finale. I dunno it’s just weird. And cmon Dylan doing charity work? He would throw money at people but I cant see him actually contributing with his time haha.
September 17th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Chrissy – Brandon got Kelly pregnant at some point during or shortly after college, but she miscarried.
JeniLee – I am D/K all the way, and you’re right, it doesn’t make sense given the series finale. They were clearly together, and now we’re supposed to believe they drifted apart sometime within the next six years, only to hook up AGAIN, have a kid, and break up AGAIN. That is silliness. Only Pam and Tommy Lee are that unstable.
September 17th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
thank you julie :)
September 17th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Unfortunately the surprise was ruined for the Canadian audience. Stations were showing that clip in the week leading up to the episode as a teaser. It didn’t take much to assume that Brenda accusing Kelly of still being in love with Dylan + the big reveal of Sammy’s father = Dylan is a daddy.
September 17th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
though they didn’t show much of it…did anyone else notice ethan’s house looks very much like the old walsh house??? the door, the entrance, the staircase, the living room….
September 17th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
I was so glad that it was Dylan! I like you and other commenters only watch for the originals. I really want Luke Perry to make an appearance but I’m not holding my breath.
September 18th, 2008 at 12:12 am
I know he played Todd…its just they did tie in some coninuity into WILAY, so I figured it would be good humour to tie it back into 90210
September 18th, 2008 at 11:30 am
I am loving this show!
I think the new characters are great! I mean the Annie/Ethan/Naomi thing is nostalgic to the Brenda/Dylan/Kelly drama. I think that Naomi’s mom is going to end up with some drug/alcohol addiction or suicide attempt and/or actually commit suicide and then her dad’s mistress will move in full throttle. And what about a reunion with Kelly and Jackie?
Whether or not any of the other old-timers resurface, I think that it will be an awesome show! Although, I would love to see them all reunite for a high school reunion or something…that would be a great episode!
I expect great things from this show…just like the first! I am hooked on 90210…AGAIN!
September 18th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
I knew it would be Dylan! Brandon Walsh would never be an “absentee father” nor would Jim & Cindy Walsh live so far away from their only grandchild.
Steve is married (to Janet) and they have a child… so that would have been pretty melodramatic. I also think that Steve would have wanted to be involved… he always carried a flame for Kelly. Unless they wrote it in as an illicit affair or something?
Dylan was the only choice. And he and Kelly were working on things in the series finale….. The only thing I don’t really think works is that Brenda mentioned that she came back to Beverly Hills to see them when Sammy was born. Would she really have been so excited to see her ex-boyfriend’s baby? I’m not sure….
September 18th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
I thought it would be Dylan from the get-go but in an interview with E! I believer Luke Perry said that he was not interested in appearing on the new show and he would just rather leave the past in the past and move on.
September 19th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
@ Jenn
“Annie/Ethan/Naomi thing is nostalgic to the Brenda/Dylan/Kelly” ?!
PUH-LEEZ! Ethan couldn’t shine Dylan’s shoes if he wanted!
March 24th, 2009 at 11:40 am
wow i’m not happy at all that Dylan is the father!! I grew up with the old 90210 and started watching the new one just for the original ones on there. I remember very well how Dylan and Kelly got together and thought wow what a great friend Kelly was! Kelly wanted Dylan from day one ever since Brenda hooked up with him. if u dont remember the slumber party episode. I guess in my book friends dont steele boyfriends when your suppose to be best friends. also howthey portray Brenda on the new 90210 they make Kelly look like the good guy and Brenda like the bad? expecially when kelly made that comment to brenda about how old habits dont die hard or something like that.. I thought what a hypacrite.. the new show forgets the kelly made her move on dylan… kelly was better with Brandon… all kelly and dylan did was fight when they were together anyways????
