Jennifer Hudson Is Gettin’ Hitched!
UHHHH … whut? People magazine is reporting that Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson has gone and gotten herself engaged. Firstly, I had no idea that she was even seeing anyone seriously enough to be close to marriage. Secondly, I about fell my ass onto the floor when I learned who her new fiancée is. Did any of y’all watch the VH-1 “romantic competitive” reality TV show I Love New York (which was a spin-off of Flavor of Love, which was a spin-off of Strange Love, which was a spin-off of The Surreal Life)? If so, you might recognize J. Hud’s new hubby-to-be as the contestant who vied for Tiffany New York Pollard’s affection. On the show his name was Punk … in real life, apparently, his name is David Otunga:
Jennifer Hudson and boyfriend, David Otunga, have gotten engaged, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I can confirm that Jennifer got engaged to her boyfriend David on Friday night in L.A.” says the rep. Otunga, who is known as “Punk” from the reality show I Love New York 2, popped the question with a Neil Lane diamond ring on the Dreamgirls Oscar winner’s 27th birthday. The couple, who have been dating less than a year, both hail from Chicago.
I must admit … I’m shocked, y’all. I would’ve thought that J. Hud was worthy of someone better than one of Tiffany Pollard’s cast-offs. “Dating less than a year” has got trubs written ALL over it. I’m sorry, I’m usually very positive about these sorts of things but … I can only see wreck and ruin in the future for J. Hud and Punk. I mean … really?! No, I just can’t see this one working out. Am I wrong?

For no reason whatsoever, I have a very soft spot for Ms. Hudson. My gut feeling is that he will not treat her like the treasure she is.

Doesn’t sound good. But, from the one half of an episode I saw with “Punk,” he seemed sweeter and more genuine than the others. Maybe it will work? I just hope he has something going on for him besides “reality” actor.

From what I saw on the show, Punk was one of the nicest and genuine dudes on the show. I think they’ll be fine together. My parents actually dated for only 6 months when they got married, and they’ve been married for 20 years thus far! It could work, even in hollywood.
I wish them both a happy marriage. <3

I have to admit I ended up watching the last half of I Love New York 2 and honestly, Punk (err, David) appeared to be a genuinely sweet and stand-up sort of guy, very down-to-earth. That said though, I remember wondering on more than one occasion why such a nice guy would be on such a show to begin with! Weird weird weird… ah well, good luck to the both of them, I hope David treats Miss Hudson right!

I must admit that I watched I Love New York quite regularly…it was a guilty pleasure! Punk was actually one of the really nice guys on the show, from what I remember he went to law school and was a practicing lawyer…so I never quite understood why he felt the need to go on VH1 and search for love with Miss New York/Tiffany. He seemed to have a lot going for him, so hopefully this will work out! I really like Jennifer Hudson and I hope her life is fabulous :-)

I heard her say in an interview that they’ve been dating since they were 18. That’s like seven or eight years now. I’m happy for her.

Yeah, I have a bad feeling about this one too. I really like her and wish her the best, but that doesn’t sound promising. Keep looking, Jennifer, you can do better, though I’ve heard, by standards usually on those shows, he wasn’t bad.

I just think, shes forgotten were she came from. Before her fame she was soo in love with her first boyfriend, now leaving him for all these other famous people. That is not cool at all. How many people has she dated since her fame? and now shes getting engaged only dating the guy less than a year?! I use to like her, but it seems the fame has gotten to her head. I think she just does all this for extra attention. Whatever works..I guess..

I THNK THIS IS A GREAT THING AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DONT KNOW…theyre BOTH from Chicago….He graduated pre-med from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign AND ended up going to Harvard. He took a job with the prestigious Sidley Austin law firm. (That’s where President Obama met wife Michelle.) So hes not after Jennifers money or fame as for his fame well hes getting into the WWE yes I said the WWE, because wrestling is one of his passions. I THINK THEY MAKE A GREAT COUPLE…. Otunga was at her side when she was reeling from the murders of her mother, brother and nephew. Jennifer thanked Otunga in her Grammys speech, and sang “You Pulled Me Through.” They both have a lot going for themselves as well as for each other….. im sure they’ll stay together for a life time…..
