Janet Jackson ‘Rocks Wit’ LA
Here are a few pics from Janet Jackson’s LA tour stop last night at the Staples Center on her just launched Rock Witchu Tour. I must admit that these photos, much like the first photos released from this tour last week, are terribly disappointing and entirely unsexy. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Janet (Miss Jackson, if you’re nasty) but the costuming on this tour is utterly ridiculous and the highly sexualized themes of sadomasochistic bondage in the show have not only been done to death before (like in the Velvet Rope Tour) but have also been done so much better in previous tours (like in the Velvet Rope Tour). Take a look:
Granted, I admit that judging a live concert tour merely on photos is not entirely fair but in all honesty, I’ve not seen anything thus far that has come close to impressing me. People magazine reports that Janet’s Rock Witchu Tour opened to rave reviews in Vancouver, BC last week and perhaps my opinion will change if and when I see the show for myself. David is a huge Janet Jackson fan so we may yet see the show somewhere along the way. I am impressed that Janet is performing 30 songs each night on this tour … but I just can’t get past the ill-fitting costuming. If any of y’all have seen the show already, please set me straight. I suppose I can reserve judgment, despite my disappointment with what I’ve seen thus far.

We all know Janet has her weight issues… And she had about 5 months to get back in “tour” shape. Which she failed to do… So therefore they have covered her up from head to toe and it looks awful.
A catsuit on someone who is not in the best shape does not look good. Example: Christina at the VMA’s.
I’m not saying I’m perfect… But it’s a total let down… And I think everyone is tired of the S&M gag. She’s done it over and over and over and it’s tired.
Did I mention she skipped over Seattle and Portland? I live in Portland and saw the opening night of the All For You tour.
She’s never done that before!! LAME!! I think that someone who has had two flopped albums and two cancelled tours to go along with those albums should not be pissing off fans…
I’m sure it’s a great show musically…

i went to the show last night in LA…my bff and i both agreed that the costumes were horrendous and that the whole concept of the show was a little confusing, but overall it was a pretty amazing show..i mean she danced her ass off and did the dances from the videos of each song when she performed them which was just amazing…all in all, b/c she has a great catalog of songs to choose from it was a great show…she only performed like 4 songs from the most recent album…
i saw her once before on the janet tour which was great but that was years ago and the fact that she can still hang and look good doing it (despite the hideous outfits and the bad hair) is commendable..

OMG! I was at the show last night and the show was AMAZING! Every hit you could want and she danced her ass off!

Iff costumes aside, the show was a non-stop ride of all her classic dance hits.
Janet kept the crowd on their feet for 2 1/2 hours with classic dance numbers (we all know that “IF” move), a sexy bondage simulation, and tons of pyro technics. Not an easy feat for most aging pop stars these days (sorry Madge).
The show was clearly dedicated to the fans and not to promote a recent album.
Definitely check out this show if you get the opportunity as it was one of the most entertaining concerts I’ve seen.

omg — what the fug is eating her head in that last pic? that hat looks like something that crawled out of her finger-in-a-socket hair. no doubt ms. jackson is talented, but would someone please tell that girl to fire her stylist (or, more likely, just get a stylist)?

Umm, I normally don’t comment on things like this, but the Art Direction and Costuming were HORRENDOUS. And it was so sad cos let me tell you, Janet was working the shit out! I mean, child she might not be in the same shape she was when she was 25 (who is) but she was KILLIN’ it. Full energy, full commitment, dope. Jaw-droppingly good.
Which is what makes the Art Direction and Costuming so sad. It’s like, this is our homegurl, who hooked her up with these whack ass designers?
Take a note from the Kylie/William Baker collabo please. Get a crazy talented gay who knows your history and make some beautiful magical shit.

I was at the show last night in L.A. and it was AMAZING! Now granted she was not in her “All For You,” Tour shape but that’s ok because she rocked it! Tons of dancing, all her hits, it was excellent! Go Janet!

Yes…please don’t judge this show strictly by the pics! I was there last nite, and the entire Staples Center was on their feet! Janet did an AMAZING job! She can still outperform kids half her age, and she’s so sweet and humble!
BTW, Britney was part of the audience last nite…

I’m never paying to see Janet live because I want something new, different, and not a rehash of a previous tour which, in itself, merely trotted out the same old dances. While I appreciate there are people who want to relive the glory days with Janet, I’d much more like to hear new remixes performed with new choreography. Just me.

It was one of the greatest “events” I have seen in a minute! She totally worked it out – u definitely will not be disappointed. Ok – so the costumes may not be the greatest, but she makes up for in other areas. Yes, this show is similar to her past shows with all the dancing and stuff, but it’s JANET. You forget all that stuff once you get up and dance non stop to every hit she packs in to her 2.5 hour show. She’s a little thicker these days, so she’s gotta keep things covered up. WORTH EVERY PENNY – U WILL LOVE THIS SHOW!

I saw the show in Oakland. I loved everything about the show including the outfits, I felt they were different, but Janet wore them well! The entire show was off the hook! Janet still is the queen of this shit! So to all ya’ll haters, Kick rocks!
