History Lesson
David and I had grand plans to check out the bar scene here in Reykjavik, Iceland last night … unfortch, our horse riding adventure from earlier in the day ended up getting the best of us. As the day/night wore on we got more and more sore … and tired. We ended up crashing underneath our insanely warm and comfy down blankets and pillows. At least we woke up refreshed and much less sore today :) We spent the early part of today in town doing a bit of shopping, pausing to snack on delicious Icelandic hot dogs (called pylsurs) and then spending some time at the National Museum of Iceland. Here are a few pics of our day today:

A portion of the museum was hands on so we were able to dress up as vikings … I think we look pretty hawt, no? I also kinda loved the wool hat with built in porn ’stache … I think I like having a ’stache — too bad I can’t grow one :( In about an hour we have to make our way to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa for some much needed pampering … oh man, I have been dreaming about this since I got here. Woot! I can’t wait. Tomorrow is our last day here in Iceland … I am gonna be very sad to leave … I just love it here. Are there any kind Icelanders out there who are lookin’ to adopt a cute and faithful blogger? Shoot me an email, serious inquiries only please :)

I’m so glad you’re having fun. You have actually gotten me interested in Iceland. I would have never thought to go there on vacation or anything like that. It seems like a fun place to visit. I’ll definitely consider it now. I love the pictures. I feel like I was there. :)

Come to Iceland … I promise you’ll love it. It is so beautiful here, the people are so nice and the culture is totally fascinating. From NYC, it’s a shorter flight than to either London or LA. I am so coming back some day … prolly in the summer where they enjoy 24 hours of daylight :)

Did you fly out of JFK? Did you use a travel agent, or do everything yourselves? Thanks Trent, I’m trying to convince my fiance to go on a pre-honeymoon adventure in February (or even Valentine’s day!)

Did fly out of JFK on Icelandair, did everything ourselves … but I recommend buying your tickets in advance of more than 5 days … we paid more for the last-minuteness. All the tour stuff you can book online, if you have any specific questions, shoot me an email and I’ll try to answer as best I can.

So glad you got to try the pylsurs! I crave them sometimes…sorry you are having such rainy weather. Last time my husband and I went it was quite rainy too. We spent alot of time indoors at my grandparents house drinking coffee. Next time come in June, the midnight sun is so nice. In any event, the Blue Lagoon can be enjoyed in all kinds of weather so I hope you have fun there.

I so want to go to this place now. You could become the national travel director for Iceland. You already got one person to want to go..and I am sure there is a bunch more who want to go after reading about your adventures!!!

My best advice is to buy all the beauty products they offer at the Blue Lagoon! You will miss them once you are home!

11 years ago my husband and I flew to Europe with Iceland Air, because they had the cheapest flight and a very long layover in Iceland. We were traveling with a 2 year old and having 2 shorter flights helped us keep our sanity.Anyhow, since we had 6+ hours between flights we took the bus(courtesy of IA)to the lagoon and both my son and I went in for a dip.Loved it!!! and it helped us all to be more relaxed on the 2nd flight.
Hope you had a good time………

You are seriously making me want to visit Iceland. Besides, it’s where Bjork is from so what’s not to love? Did you pick up a tour package for this trip? If you did please share.
