Hauslaib Birthday Lurve
The TV Guide

Yesterday was my first full day here in NYC and it was a doozy of a good time. David’s parents are in town to celebrate his father’s birthday and his birthday (which is next weekend) and we spent most of the afternoon with them. First up, we went to see an illusionist/mentalist theater show called The Quantum Eye which was kinda fun … except for the part when I got dragged up on stage to participate. Long story short, the guy correctly guessed that I was “the murderer” based on my inability to lie (tho, I suspect the new blonde hair might’ve been a clue, too). After the show, we supped at an amazing Cuban restaurant called Guantamera. Seriously, the most amazing Cuban food I’ve ever had … I ate so much, it was embarrassing. Then we parted ways with David’s fam and made our way uptown to another birthday party for one of David’s friends named David (confusing, I know):

After a rousing game of Celebrity (which saddened me because there are people in this world who don’t know who Ethel Mertz, Professor Minerva McGonagall, Ayn Rand or Mary Todd Lincoln are) and healthy portions of baked ham (don’t ask) we got down to partying the night away. Oh yes, there were lots of Polaroid photos taken — some of them not really appropriate for public consumption.

Late last night, David and I decided to jet away on a spur-of-the-moment birthday trip for him at the end of the week … so if any of y’all are from or are familiar with Reykjavik, Iceland please send in your tips and/or suggestions. Wee :)

This afternoon, we’re gonna try and make it out to the Whitney Museum to see a Mapplethorpe exhibit and then … who knows what. Possibly snow shoe shopping or something … cuz, Iceland — here we come!

PS: I know this is HORRIBLY late but I also have to send out much Birthday Lurve to Pink reader Debbie from Albany, Oregon who celebrated her birthday this past Thursday! I am sending out all my pink love vibes to you today in the hopes that you had an amazing birthday this year … and, if ever I find myself in Oregon, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to meet you in person :) Happy Birthday, Debbie!!! xoxox

Go see the Aurora! I SO want to witness that first hand. You can apparently see them from Iceland so I would recommend it. It would be so freaking cool (and romantic as Dahlia suggests :P )
