‘Hannah Montana’ Dunzo?
Could it be that Miley Cyrus has finally outgrown her professional relationship with Disney and is ready to put say Peace the Spork Out to the Hannah Montana role that made her a star? Well, according to a new report, both Miley and her daddums Billy Ray Cyrus are doing everything they can to get out of finishing the eps for this last season of the show as quickly as they can (ie. before the actual end of the season) much to Disney’s chagrin. Interestingly enough, there is another new report that claims that Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell is lookin’ to sign Miley up to play a young Carrie Bradshaw in a proposed “young adult” prequel series to SaTC … so basically, we’ve got good news/bad news sitch on our hands:

TMZ has learned Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus want off “Hannah Montana,” and their conduct has triggered a war on the set. Our spies on the set tell us Miley has bragged that she will get fired, making it clear she wants to focus on singing and not the show. For his part, Billy Ray has also made it clear that there is more money in singing than a Disney cable show. As a result, the father-daughter team has been showing up to the set ridiculously late, stalling production and infuriating cast and crew … Sources tell us Billy Ray has told people on the set that he and Miley will do 12 more episodes and then they are out. Disney was so pissed they called his agent, railing that Billy Ray and Miley were ingrates. Disney insisted that Billy Ray and Miley not only finish the 24 episode season — but Disney was adding six more episodes.
And now for the bad news:
Candace Bushnell, the creator of the smash TV series and movie Sex And The City, has suggested that Miley Cyrus play the role of a young Carrie Bradshaw in her planned prequel series. Currently working on a pair of novels focusing on ‘young’ Carrie’s time in high school, Bushnell has revealed that the teenage Carrie, “…did not follow the crowd – she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene.” She added that Cyrus could be perfect playing the teenage Carrie, who has been played as an adult by Sarah Jessica Parker in the TV series and on the big screen. Miley herself appears to be very keen on the role, telling TV Guide earlier in the year, “I’d love to do a younger, cleaner version of Sex And The City.”
While I wouldn’t mind very much if the Hannah Montana character died a quick and painful death, I am aghast that this Sex and the City prequel bullshizz is even being discussed. I’m not sure how valid this report is necessarily but I personally think a sanitized, young adult version of the show would be SO STUPID. WTF are they thinking? The whole idea is bad enough but casting Miley Cyrus, are they seriously out of their freakin’ minds? I really hope this wild talk is a total fabrication … I’m not sure my frail little heart could survive what I think would be the total decimation of SaTC. Please gods, let this never happen … please. What do y’all think … does any of this sound like a good idea to any of y’all?

Disney shows do not last more than 3 seasons. I think their limit for every show is 100 episodes. This is done on purpose so that they are constantly developing new shows for kids and creating new stars that will bring in more money. I find all of this hard to believe. Miley is still young and probably has no where to go after Hannah Montana. I am a big Miley fan, but I really don’t see her career going very far after Hannah Montana is over.

I think this young girl and her father are deplorable!!! While I have NO time invested in watching her on Disney, I know millions of young girls love her……….and Disney has invested a lot in her as an actress (including her pathetic father too). Seems that they are a bit ungrateful for what they have been given. I know that if she does it this way……….her career will most likely pay the price…….and it will be her fault as well as her pathetic father’s……so hopefully they won’t bitch too much……ugh…….

It’s still just an “idea” as you posted NOTHING is concrete… the damn author hasn’t even written the book yet! I don’t know why people are freaking out, the books may just suck and nobody will want to make a movie or a series about them.
As for miley leaving Hannah Montana I think it’s not such a good career move right now, her image has been tarnished the last few months, I’d stick with Disney and grow more of a fan base. She is following Hillary Duff’s steps, Duff left Lizzie McGuire too soon, look at her now: Her last album sold around only 300,000 copies in the US and her last two movies have been big flops.

I think you’ve hit it squarely on the head …

Edit: I just found out that Disney has a 65 episode limit for every show. That’s So Raven is the only show that went over this limit because it was the highest rated show for the Disney Channel, so it was extended to 100 episodes. As far as I’m concerned, Hannah Montana is reach that 65 episode limit and they should be done within a season or two.

This is all speculation; but if Candace B decides that Miley is right for playing a young Carrie, I’ll personally fly to NYC and have it out with CB! Miley, Jonas Bros, Demi and Selene..all this teeny bopper madness is pathetic. I think all of these kids MIGHT go on to better things, but for the most part, they’ve started too young and no one will care eventually. I definitely don’t see Miley maintaining a successful career after HM. It’s like anything else–you get too much of it, and it kills itself. This girl needs to go away!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Leave SATC alone!

If someone is really considering Miley to play a young Carrie Bradshaw, that someone is a moron. Miley looks nothing like SJP – not even close! Also, she is about the only actress in America who is more annoying than SJP as Carrie.

me no likey

I personally find Miley Cyrus very annoying and have never watched her show, but is she f**king stupid?!? She needs to ride this Hanna Montana thing as long as she can.

I think Miley has definitely made a name for herself with out all the Hannah Montana bull. Her CD sold well, and I may be 21 years old, but I still love me some Miley Cyrus. I think she’ll do totally fine, maybe even better, once she leaves Hanna Montana behind.
As for the SATC…I think the idea of the show itself sounds kind of dumb…and if it is supposed to be a young Carrie…shouldn’t the actress at least look a little bit like Carrie, Miley doesn’t. I’m sure she would be great in the role…but she does not look enough like SJP to play Carrie.

Miley Cyrus is NOT Carrie Bradshaw…. in addition i think to make that concept work they would have to hire an unknown to play the character.

She is biting the hand that feeds her if she is truly thinking about leaving Disney before her contract is up. Didn’t Disney propell her to her current “star” (using that term loosely here) status? And give her her first real job in entertainment? She should finish out her contract like a professional would, then go on to make bland pop music. Most of the actors-turned-pop stars who have come out of the Disney machine finished their contracts with the Mouse before going all slutty-hoe right??
Also, truth be told my 8 yr old step sister loves Hanna Montana, but when I refered to her as “Miley Cyrus,” she had no clue what I was talking about. Kids like her character, yo.

I think this is just a way to bring down Miley and try and make Demi and Selena more popular. Like Lana said disney wants to constantly create new stars and if all people talk about is miley then there wont be any new stars thats why demi and selena are being pushed on us by jonas brothers cuz really thats how those two are even relevant.
September 22nd, 2008 at 11:07 am
Random fact, the Aladdin tv show also broke Disneys limit on how many episodes a series get because it was so popular. Why its not on dvd yet, puzzles me greatly.
Anyway I’m not a Hannah Montana fan, but think its a little silly for Miley to walk away from it too soon. It’s what has made her bank account so huge. And since we all know what happens to most child stars, she should make the most of her fame now.
September 22nd, 2008 at 11:29 am
I think Miley Cyrus needs to revamp her “team”. Get new management, reasses her goals and take her career forward in a new/positive- learning from all the other girls who’ve been eaten alive by their own oversized egos. At this point, even with her few misteps, she could really break the mold and change the game. She’s just in too damn of a rush to be a grown up. There’s usually a heavy price to pay for that…Chill out for a sec, Miley…DAMN!

More money in singing eh you moronic hillbillies? Yeah.. umm pretty soon people won’t be buying into the whole Miley Cyrus: SINGER! thing anymore… she’s getting older, getting far too big headed… and if a friend of mine showed me this youtube video of her and several AMAZING singers singing for a charity benefit the other week. Mariah, Beyonce… Yeah Miley did NOT fit in at all. In fact her ’singing’ parts were the worst, and ruined a pretty decent song. She’s not great, she’s not even good. She’s a teenager who could probably vie for the top post in a school talent show, and that’s it.
Actually Miley, you have more money in acting like a spoiled brat and yelling at your fellow cast. Singing? Wow… clearly her singing has shattered their common sense.

I don’t know about Miley playing the young Carrie but I think that Candace B. should put the whole SATC thing to bed. It’s time for some new characters and new stories.

Disney has a 65 episode guideline for all the shows they create and air. Some make it to the 65 mark before being canceled despite it popularity (e.g. Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens, Adventures of the Gummi Bears). Due to the popularity of certain shows (and petitions) some shows run past the 65 guideline and run anywhere from there to 100 episodes ( e.g. That’s So Raven, Kim Possible, Suite Life of Zack and Cody).
I find it hard to believe that Miley and her father will endanger their relationship with Disney while Hannah Montana remains a current running series past the 65 episode guideline. (Especially when they fought so hard to save face over the Vanity Fair photo controversy.)

ugh, i hope this does not turn out to be true. i love SATC but i think doing a “prequel” is dumb. and miley cyrus playing carrie bradshaw-FUCK NO!!!!
September 22nd, 2008 at 1:48 pm
I really don’t care about Hannah Montana so it doesn’t make a difference if the show stops. But there is no way it would be a good idea to have Miley play Carrie! Carrie is awesome and Miley is pretty much lame.
September 22nd, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Miley Cyrus is a joke that needs to be stopped.
I heard they really are doing a teenage prequel NOVEL…
September 22nd, 2008 at 3:12 pm
I hate both ideas. CB is just riding on the coattails of the movie and Gossip Girl. Leave Carrie alone…we don’t need to see her as a teen. We met her at just the right time…as an adult. As for MC playing a young Carrie Bradshaw….are people on crack? For a start, Carrie isn’t a southerner. And even as a teen we can assume Carrie was cool. Which Miley Cyrus is not, although my 8yo would argue.
September 22nd, 2008 at 3:24 pm
“A younger, cleaner version of Sex And The City” ?
How was she even allowed to watch it since she’s not even 16, yet?
September 22nd, 2008 at 5:04 pm
i think it’s great miley is growing past being just a disney star .. good for her. i also heard she’s working with stylist kira plastinina who’s also a young mature talent .. checked out her site and loved it! (www.kiraplastinina.us)
September 22nd, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Words cannot describe how bad of an idea it would be to have Miley act as a young Carrie. In fact, I feel as though that would be an insult to the entire SATC series itself. PLEASE find someone else.
September 23rd, 2008 at 5:20 am
CB is writing a SaTC prequel novel.
I haven’t heard anything about a TV show/movie, though.
But if she does make one (which, I don’t think she should) Miley should be on the bottom of the list of actresses to play Carrie.
September 23rd, 2008 at 8:10 am
If any young actress should play the teenaged Carrie Bradshaw it should be Dakota Fanning! Her features aren’t as trong, but she has the acting chops to be a young Carrie.
