Dylan McKay Returns To ‘90210’ Tonight
At the risk of offering a very spoilery spoiler for tonight’s episode of 90210, I have some amazing news to share … which, I guess has already been shared by the title of this post. I apologize for my excitement but this, well, is just so exciting — they said it wouldn’t happen, we were told it wasn’t going to happen but … Dylan McKay will be making a return of sorts on tonight’s new ep of 90210:

But that’s all I want to say about this startling and very exciting revelation out here in the open. After the jump, check out a preview video of Dylan’s return to the world of 90210 …
OMG! Brills! Even if Luke Perry doesn’t want to make a physical appearance on the show that doesn’t mean that his presence can’t be interjected into the storyline. I love it! I have to agree with the Pink readers who have been commenting on 90210 posts lately, I too am watching the spin-off mainly for the bits that involve the old characters. Producers need to keep the old Beverly Hills, 90210 drama comin’ … cuz I can’t get enough … am I right?

You are so right, when is Dylan going to come to his senses?

I’m so with you, Trent! And seriously, Luke Perry needs to get over himself and go back on the show- unless he is too busy doing guest spots on other tv shows…seriously, I don’t get why any of them wouldn’t go back, even for just an episode or two.

Love it!!! I agree its the only reason I watch! Come on LUKE!!!
And when Brenda and Kelly were “talking” during the revealing of Sammy’s Dad I loved it! They put in just a dash of Old School Brenda and Kelly Biochy! Perfect!

I wonder if Luke is saying no but really said yes and just wants to surprise us. I cannot get into the show simply because there is not enough old 90210 which is why I’m watching the reruns on the Soap channel. You know how you know you are getting old? You find yourself siding with the parents. “No, Brenda, it was wrong for you to go to Mexico with Dylan without our permission!!”

I agree 100%! I think most people are tuning in to see the veterans…

I totally agree! I couldn’t care less about the new characters. I want to see more Brenda and Kelly drama!!!

Dude, you are right on the money. The only reason I watch and only reason I am interested in the series at all!
September 30th, 2008 at 10:38 am
same reason i watch the show, to see the old caracters :)

Ditto that….is the video a youtube link? I’m thinking so ’cause all I see is a big white box. Darn youtube being blocked at work…*sniff* how am I supposed to be productive? ;)

While I am enjoying the show and storyline around the new characters, my main reason for watching is also to see the original BH, 90210 cast members and their storylines. I would just die if Dylan did a guest spot. Then all we need to Brandon and my life will be complete… =)

awesome

II agree that the veterans are the only reason to really watch this show.
I posted my thoughts on another blog when asked what I thought of the show after the first episode aired.
Here’s what I said…
I’m not a huge fan of it… Unfortunately when they re-make shows, it’s never the same for me…
When something becomes such a huge success on it’s own, it’s difficult to bring it back with a newer, fresher spin. I watch re-runs of Bev Hills for the nostalgia. And when someone tries to re-create what I’ve already become accustomed to, I’m not excited about it.
Remember when Saved by the Bell was such a big hit and we embraced the cheesiness of it? We loved that Zack and Kelly were always off and on and Screech was such a rampant geek? It’s the same way I feel about Brenda and Dylan and a young David Silver.
When the kids from SBTB got older, they created Saved by the Bell: The new class. It still had Mr. Belding and Screech but it just wasn’t the same and the show eventually fizzled. However, when they brought back most of the original gang for Saved by the Bell: The College Years…it was a success and even spawned a movie (Zack and Kelly’s Las Vegas Wedding).
This is exactly how I feel about 90210. It leaves me wanting more of the same characters and drama. Hopefully Dylan will return and be Kelly’s baby daddy and Brenda can get insanely pissed and re-create some of the original love-triangleness that they once had. Maybe Brandon will return and mentor young Zuckermann while fighting Dylan for Kelly. Maybe Donna will return and be….well, Donna. Otherwise…this show will fizzle also.
Just my 2 cents and honest opinion

I guess I am the only one so far to say I enjoy both aspects of the show. Old and new.

I thought I was the only one who DVRed this show so I could skip all the parts that Kelly and Brenda weren’t in! I find all the new characters boring and honestly, there are too many of them. Also, why did they make Erin Silver– sorry, “Silver”– a brunette? She was a little blonde girl on the old show. She looks nothing like Jackie OR Mel (or David, for that matter). I would have found it so much more interesting if she was a little mini-Kelly…
I’m hoping against hope that Dylan and Brandon will show their faces once again, but hello, isn’t everyone wondering WHERE ARE DAVID AND STEVE??????? Brian Austin Green has to start doing something relevant again or Megan Fox is going to pull a Hilary Swank on him. And we all know Ian Ziering is still in great shape and would love to be back in the limelight. I would even be excited if Valerie came back! She and Brenda could totally bring it on. And it has to be said. It seems not quite legit to have a 90210 without Tori.

I hope the “older” generation comes back! They’ll make it so much fun!

I love it! I’m so loving the old school drama. I know many of the actors feel that they have moved on from 90210 but they shouldn’t discount where they began. I would love to see Dylan return. If anything it could show how far Kelly/Dylan/Brenda have come since their old love triangle days. The perfect season ender would be for Dylan to suddenly pop up in person. Of course I would love to see Donna, Brandon, Steve, Andrea and David all together on screen again one more time. High school reunion anyone?!

That’s so exciting!!! But I have to admit I don’t really watch the new one for the same reasons – only care about the old characters, and am also extremely annoyed by Shenae Grimes. To me, she will always be the self-righteous bitch from Degrassi.

I’m nervous for 90210… and am scared that the ratings will continue to drop with Shannon’s exit tonight and Luke’s hesitation to return! There’s only one solution… bring back Andrea! haha But seriously… there are many “Beverly Hills 90210″ fans who are watching for the sole chance that some original tidbits could pop up!
Bye Brenda… and please come back soon!!!

He wasn’t on last night, but they mentioned his name non stop. I’m with the other commenters. I like to see the old timers. Who cares for these bulemic newbies? LOL

Add another for the old crew. I only watch the parts of the new show that concersns Brenda and Kelly. Why don’t they just have another show with the original characters? I really don’t see them working on any other projects–I did see Luke Perry on Law and Order the other week and got chill bumps. I just love the original 90210 and I watch it on Soapnet every night. I was so happy when it was revealed that Dylan is the father of Kelly’s son. I don’t like the new characters. In with the old and out with the new I say!!

uuugh!! all I could focus on was how disturbingly skeletal Annie and Silver’s arms were…YIKES…
but the Kelly/Brenda spat at the end really got me going! BRILLS!
