Celebs Complete The ‘Nautica Malibu Triathlon’

J. Lo! Matty boy! Zach Morris!
September 15th, 2008

Despite an “ankle injury” that kept her from fulfilling the arduous duty of judging the Project Runway Season 5 Finale Fashion Show in NYC last Friday (which would have required that she, gasp, sit in a front row seat and judge designs), Jennifer Lopez was able to miraculously complete the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in Malibu, CA yesterday morning/afternoon with a time of 2 hours, 23 minutes and 28 seconds … imagine that. Here are a few pics from J. Lo’s triathlon run yesterday:

Jennifer Lopez had the support of several important men in her life as she successfully competed in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon on Sunday, finishing the race in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 28 seconds. The singer-actress was cheered on from the sidelines by husband Marc Anthony, who escorted her to a VIP area with his arm securely around her after she crossed the finish line, exhausted, but with her fists pumped in victory. In the VIP area, Lopez met up with Matthew McConaughey, who also competed in the triathlon at Zuma Beach. The actor greeted his former Wedding Planner costar with a big hug. And Lopez was accompanied along the way by her trainer Gunnar Peterson, who was not racing himself, but was there to help out. Lopez, 39, has been training for the event – her first ever triathlon – with Peterson and Self magazine editor-in-chief Lucy Danziger. In August, she appeared on Good Morning America, boasting a positive attitude about her workout regimen. “I feel great,” she said on the show. “I have more energy – [and] I’m proud of myself.” She also revealed that she would be raising money for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles … But for McConaughey, the event was all business. The actor (and fitness buff) had his game face on before the race as he stretched. Still, the actor broke his serious demeanor for a moment, though, when he spotted girlfriend Camila Alves – who spent some of the race time in the VIP area, holding son Levi in a baby bjorn. McConaughey left the line to give her a kiss and rub Levi before the swim began.

Whew! I’m so glad that Jenny’s “injury” was able to heal fast enough to allow her successful completion of this challenging triathlon. In the end, tho, her triathlon run was for a good charity cause so I guess I can’t give her too much grief ;) After the jump, and for Woot!s and LOLs, check out a few pics from Matthew McConaughey and (radomly) Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s triathlon runs …

First up, the Woot!s:

You can say what you will about Matthew the man but he does look good in rubber … looks even better not in rubber so … yeah. And, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Saved By The Bell’s Mark-Paul Gosselaar (who played the infamous Zach Morris) was also among the celebs who competed in the triathlon at Zuma Beach in Malibu, CA yesterday. Here are a few of his pics:

Yeah, I really wanted to post pics from a third celebrity contestant so it was either Mark-Paul or John Cryer … trust me, the Mark-Paul pics was the more attractive way to go ;) In any event, much congrats to all the contestants of yesterday’s Nautica Malibu Triathlon! I’m fairly certain I would never be able to complete such a grueling event so my hat is off to all of you! Well done!!!

Whatever…this wasn’t even a real Triathalon!!! It was a 1/2 mile swim and a 4 mile run! Why are people so impressed that J.Lo did this??!! I mean seriously…anyone could do all that if they trained for a month like she did!!

  5. CRex Says:

WHAT?? A half-mile swim and 4 mile run, plus a bike ride, took her 2 and a half hours?? She’s been supposedly working with a trainer for this, right? I’d be PO’ed by my time if I were her.

  6. Linnea1928 Says:

I’m so over J Lo. Everything lately about her has really turned me off. Whining about the attention Michael Phelps is getting? Blowing off Project Runway? Are you serious? Get over yourself honey! Who cares about her little “triathalon”?

  7. James Says:

Im just surprised that after she competed in the triathlon in Mailbu, she was able to make her Hubby’s birthday party at the Bowery Hotel in NYC by 9PM! Talk about tiring lol.

Not to mention the loud cuban/spanish music they were blasting kept me up way past my bed time :-p

  8. CC Says:

Actually, it is real triathlon. It’s called a sprint distance triathlon (there are also olympic, half iron man and iron man distances). It’s the “easiest” of the triathlons, but if you’re going from the couch to competing in a triathlon, it’s a great starting point.

  9. YankeesGirl Says:

What’s the big friggin’ deal?! I ran a 10 K (6.2 mi) in 52 minutes 5 WEEKS AFTER GIVING BIRTH to my son! Normal people do it everyday!!

  10. Tara Says:

Who knew Mark-Paul has such a nice tush (or maybe its a illusion by the suit).

  11. klate Says:

Swimming 800 meters (ie, half a mile), biking 18 miles and then running 4 miles is HARD. It is a “real” trialthlon. All of you saying how easy it is have obviously never tried it. Individually, yes, those things aren’t so rough. Tied all together it’s exhausting. Trust, I’m no JLo fan but those of you who are being so nasty should give it a whirl before you judge. Get of your damn high horse.

  12. MelMel Says:

J Lo did great and Matthew looks yummy. As does Zack Attack. I need him to do something with that fug hair though! <3

  13. April Says:

I can’t believe how different Zach looks after all these years

  14. claire Says:

I, too, noticed his ass. I love him.

  15. Auddie Says:

I second what klate has to say. These triathlons are not easy to do by any stretch of the imagination! Swimming in open water for 1/2 of a mile, 12-14 mile bike ride (probably hilly if near the beach) and a 3-4 mile run – definitely not for the light-hearted. Hats off to her for finishing and for raising money for a good cause.

  16. Michelle Says:

Hey Trent, thanks for posting the Mark-Paul pics! He filled out his running shorts nicely, I think. I love me some Mark-Paul so thanks for that!

  17. Steffanie Says:

Every time I see Matthew M all sweaty, I just can’t help thinking he doesn’t like to wear deodorant. But he’s still hot…

  18. Robin Says:

seriously…that distance is not really hard. NOT HARD.

  19. John Says:

Wow J-Lo is tremendously out of shape
