Bryan Abrams Of Color Me Badd Busted!
Here’s a bit o’ news for those of you who remember the early ’90s with nostalgic fondness … Bryan Abrams who used to “front” the group Color Me Badd has been arrested in Oklahoma City, OK on assault charges. Now, I realize that some of you young’ns may not have any idea who Bryan Abrams or Color Me Badd is but those of us who grew up in the 90’s remember that they where the shizz back in the day. It’s a real shame that this is what has become of Mr. Badd:
If you’re under the age of 25, this story probably won’t mean jack to you. Bryan Abrams, one of the singers in the terribly awesome R&B band Color Me Badd, was arrested in Oklahoma City last Friday on charges of domestic abuse and assault and battery after allegedly threatening to kill his girlfriend. According to NewsOK.com, Abrams allegedly punched the woman in her nose and verbally threatened her by saying, “I’m a kill you! You and me! You and me!” Abrams is said to have had slurred speech and talked in “random sentence fragments.” Abrams is still behind bars, being held on a $4,000 bond.
Yikes! This sounds pretty scary. If true, I hope they keep his ass locked up for some time to come. It’s kinda hard to believe that it’s been 17 years since Color Me Badd first came on the scene. They hit it big with their first single I Wanna Sex You Up (which was first featured in the movie New Jack City) which then led to a string of hits (like All 4 Love, I Adore Mi Amor) from their debut album C.M.B. I remember Color Me Badd were regularly featured on the MTV dance show Club MTV which was hosted by Downtown Julie Brown (surely, many of you don’t even realize that MTV used to not only air music shows but used to air music videos as well) — Wubba Wubba Wubba! I believe the group guested on an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 and I know for a fact that they toured with Paula Abdul on her Under My Spell Tour (they even did a song with her on her third album Head Over Heels) … my, how the mighty have fallen. I was like 10 when this came out but I totally remember it! Mainly because I was plastered to MTV when they actually did play videos!! So crazy it’s been so long!!!

Oooooh! I just saw that “90210″ ep the other day. At the end Kelly brings CMB to the Peach Pit to surprise Donna, who earlier in the day found out her mom was cheating on her dad. It was so cheesy… but so fabulous in that acid washed denim 90’s kind of way!

sounds like he was drunk. i remember on that “boy band” show on mtv (should i admit i ever watched it????) he was struggling w/sobriety. so sad :(

trent this is why i lurve your bolg so much, you always have these great stories about pop bands from the past. totally remember the ep of 90210 when they were on! i think i even saw them in concert at six flags or something when i was like 12!! ah those were the days… :) thanks for taking me back to the good ole days!!

Hey ya’ll ‘Color me badd’ is the total inspiration for Andy Samberg and JT’s famous “Dick in a box” Awesome SNL video…Those guys were super big inthe 90’s

That. Was. Awesome. Color Me Badd was the first concert I went to when I was 10 years old. I went with my older sister and her friends when one of her friends couldn’t come. I thought I was soooo cool:)

I grew up in OKC. I remember being in a club once (this was probably a good 5 years after CMB was relative) and this dude… the one who got arrested… tried to get my phone number. Eww!

Huge fan.. I must say very disappointing. although if you watched Man Band you can cleary see Bryan is full of emotional problems.. Sad… I always loved him.
