The Interview
Clay Aiken Opens Up, Comes Out To ‘People’ Magazine

People magazine has finally updated its official website with their exclusive Clay Aiken coming out interview (after news of this development spread like wildfire on the InterWeb late yesterday). Here are portions of Clay‘s monumental interview with the mag, the full interview can be read in this week’s issue of People which is due to hit newsstands today:

Following the Aug. 8 birth of his son Parker, singer Clay Aiken is following through on a promise he made to himself as a new dad: to publicly acknowledge that he’s gay. “It was the first decision I made as a father,” Aiken, 29, tells the upcoming issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday. “I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn’t raised that way, and I’m not going to raise a child to do that.” Aiken says he expects the news may overwhelm some of his fans. “Whether it be having a child out of wedlock, or whether it be simply being a homosexual, it’s going to be a lot,” said Aiken, who returned to Broadway last week as Sir Robin in Monty Python’s Spamalot. He adds that he hopes his fans “know that I’ve never intended to lie to anybody at all. … But if they leave, I don’t want them to leave hating me.” The born-again Christian singer also reveals how he told his mother Faye he’s gay four years ago. After dropping off his younger brother Brett, who was being deployed to Iraq, at Camp Lejeune, “I started crying in the car,” Aiken remembers. “It was dark. I was sitting there, thinking to myself. I don’t know why I started thinking about it … I just started bawling. She made me pull over the car and it just came out.” So what was his mom’s reaction? “She started crying. She was obviously somewhat stunned. But she was very supportive and very comforting.” Even now, Aiken admits, “She still struggles with things quite a bit, but she’s come a long way.” As for his own child, Aiken tells PEOPLE that Parker – who was conceived via in vitro fertilization with his best friend, music producer Jaymes Foster – will be raised in an environment that is “accepting and allowing him to be happy.” Says Aiken: “I have no idea if he’ll be gay or straight. It’s not something I’ll have anything to do with, or that he’ll have anything to do with. It’s already probably up inside the code there … No matter what the situation you’re in, if you’re raised in a loving environment, that’s the most important thing.”

People magazine will publish the full text of Clay‘s interview as well as the first photos of his newborn son Parker Foster Aiken in their new issue on newsstands today. Again, I must commend the man for stepping up and acknowledging his homosexuality to the world. It is not an easy thing for anyone, professionally this may hurt him, but I think he will be able to live a more happy and fulfilled life now that he is being honest, not only with himself, but with the world at large. Well done Clay … as I mentioned previously, I think his son will be a much better person now that his father is being totally honest about who he is :)

Yeah, I dunno who this guy is either but you gotta see this
Mark Foster Pays Homage To David Beckham’s Bulge

UK Olympic swimmer Mark Foster thought it would be neat-o to pay tribute to David Beckham‘s famous Armani Underwear ad by posing in exactly the same way, prominent bulge and all, in the pages of the new issue of the British magazine Now. Here, for your enjoyment, is a side-by-side comparison of the competing photographs:

As far as impersonations go, it is worthy of a gold medal. With his finely honed physique and effortless smoulder, Mark Foster’s attempt to recreate David Beckham’s notorious Armani advert is virtually flawless. And save for the odd grey hair, his likeness is all the more remarkable given he is approaching his 40th birthday. However, there does appear to be one particular area in which the swimmer fails to measure up to the England footballer. While Mr Beckham showed off a suspiciously large bulge in his own pictures, the 6ft 5in Olympian falls slightly short in that department. Either way, both sportsmen appear to have made use of some rather strategic padding during their respective photoshoots. Explaining his decision to strip down, Foster said: “I’m so used to swimming in a pair of trunks and being in next to nothing anyway, stripping to a pair of underpants isn’t a major issue for me. But I don’t see myself as a heartthrob – I’m just me.” The 38-year-old competed in his fifth Olympics in Beijing this summer although failed to win a medal after tumbling out in the early stages of the competition. However, he is currently appearing on Strictly Come Dancing where he is one of the favourites to win the competition with partner Hayley Holt. And while he has never spoken openly about his love-life he says of his most appealing qualities: “I can cook. Even though I went out on the first round of Masterchef, I can cook. I find cooking very therapeutic. I’m also very good at doing as I’m told. I’m pretty tidy, and by the end of this I’ll know my way around a dancefloor.” Whispers began to circulate after a giant 100ft high poster of Beckham was unveiled outside a San Francisco department store in June. Fans could not help noticing that he appeared more well proportioned than he did when pictured in a pair of skimpy trunks while on holiday in Italy two years ago.

I gotta say, I totes approve … I think that more dudes should pay tribute to Becks‘s sexy pose like this … whadda ya say? Who should be next?

It Takes Lindsay Lohan & Samantha Ronson To Tango

Yesterday we saw pics of Lindsay Lohan on the set of a magazine photoshoot at a private residence in the Hollywood Hills (on the same day that word came out that Linds confirmed that she and Samantha Ronson are “together”) and I noted that she spent an awful lot of time on the phone in between takes. I guessed that she might’ve been chatting with Samantha … it looks like I was right. Here are new pics of Lindsay and Sam at that private residence … dancing together in between takes:

OMG … I love it. Clearly these two were meant to be together … happy and content, L. Ron make such a supercute couple. I just love these two together … I sincerely hope they stay together forever :)

3 months early, to be exact
Nick Hogan To Be Sprung From Jail Early

Nick Hogan finally has a reason to wake up in the morning … it is being reported that homeslice is going to get an early release from his 8 month jail sentence after earning credits for good behavior. You may recall that Nick Hogan (real name Nick Boella) was sentenced to serve 8 months in jail back in May after pleading “no contest” to the felony charge of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury (he was behind the wheel of a tragic car accident in August of last year that almost killed his former best friend John Graziano) … but it looks like Nick will only have to serve 5 months of his 8 month sentence:

Hulk Hogan’s son Nick Bollea is getting out of jail nearly three months early with credits for good behavior and working, PEOPLE has learned. Bollea, who has been serving an eight-month sentence at Pinellas County Jail in Clearwater, Fla., for reckless driving that led to an accident with injuries, is due to be released Oct. 21. The early release follows standard procedures for all inmates. “They automatically get credits towards early release, and if they don’t do anything bad while they’re here, they get to use the credits,” says a jail official who did not want to be identified. Bollea was sentenced for his role in a car accident last year in which his passenger, 22-year-old John Graziano, was seriously injured. Bollea’s sister, Brooke Hogan, tells PEOPLE that she is looking forward to her brother being released. “I’m not sure where he’ll live. I think he’s going to do his own thing,” said Hogan, who was attending the anniversary party for Strike Miami, a ritzy bowling alley in Miami. Graziano’s lawyer George Tragos of St. Petersburg, Fla., said he is not surprised to hear that Hogan is getting out early. “It’s standard procedure,” he tells PEOPLE. “There is no way for us to impact his release date, that’s not within our control. It’s a formula worked out by the sheriff.”

While I realize that this is “standard procedure” for all inmates I guess I just don’t understand why criminals can’t just serve out their entire sentence. After all, they have been judged to be at fault for their crimes, they are sentenced to a certain amount of jailtime … why can’t they just have to serve out their entire sentences? I understand that John Graziano is still hospitalized in a vegetative state since last year’s accident … when does his sentence end? I’m not sure if any of this is really fair … but it is, apparently, justice.

While Palin was 'celebrated' she was 'crucified'
Lynne Spears Says Jamie Lynn Was Treated Unfairly

Mama Lynne Spears is opening up to Newsweek magazine about the unfair treatment that her family received, and her daughter Jamie Lynn Spears in particular, after news came out that JL got pregs at 16 as opposed to the treatment that the Palin family received when news broke about Bristol Palin’s teenage pregnancy. Lynne calls foul that the Palins were “celebrated” by being forthcoming with their news (well, mebbe not totally forthcoming at the start … they were forced to admit the pregnancy after political blogs started putting the pieces of the story together) while Spears was “crucified” for her admission. Here is a portion of Mama Lynne‘s interview with Newsweek magazine:

Lynne Spears says the public had a “totally different reaction” to the teen pregnancies of her daughter Jamie Lynn and Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol. “It’s as if [Sarah Palin] became celebrated,” Lynne told Newsweek. “I mean, the mother, Palin, was celebrated for this. Every woman in the world has applauded her strength and her convictions and poor little old Jamie Lynn, you saw how she was crucified – everybody did, firsthand,” Lynne said. “I just feel like it’s been a very hypocritical situation.” In December, Jamie Lynn, the star of Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101 was 16 when she announced her pregnancy. She gave birth to daughter Maddie in June at the age of 17. In August, Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, revealed that her 17-year-old daughter is expecting and engaged. “Do I promote teen sex? Of course not,” Lynne told Newsweek. “Do I promote teen pregnancy? Needless to say, of course not. But when it happens, you deal with it and you do the best you can do. Jamie Lynn has done beautifully with what she’s done,” Lynne said. “Could every other teenager do what Jamie Lynn has done?” asked Lynne. “No indeed.” Lynne also rebutted criticism that Jamie Lynn glamorized teen pregnancy. “We don’t want this said, ’cause this would be glamorizing, but I will tell you a secret: her baby does sleep all night,” Lynne explained. “What do you think about those apples? Maddie is the best baby I have ever seen,” Lynne added. “She is like a little angel. She’s so contented. She laughs and she coos and ahead of herself with her stages. But of course we can’t tell that because then we would just glamorize it more.” Lynne, the author of a tell-all memoir titled Through the Storm, told Newsweek that she “really can’t give advice” to the Palin family. “Everybody’s situation is different,” she said. “I would never tell anybody else what to do with their child. I would never attempt to make them think I knew more about their child. Even if they were to ask, I would tell them dig deep, what do you think?”

You know, I noticed this same sort of thing myself … while I don’t consider both situations absolutely identical, I can absolutely sympathize with Lynne‘s contention that her family was treated more unfairly. I, personally, was very surprised at how applauded the Palin family was by their own conservative political party. It has been my estimation that social conservatives are the ones to start throwing stones first whenever a public figure suffers a very public human fault like this … and yet the Palins were celebrated for their “strength”. The Spears family, tho, were vilified and horribly criticized in comparison. I see her point and I think she has a valid one. Do y’all think that there was a disparity in fair treatment between the similar family situations? If so, is it justified?
